Kael’s pov

I stared at the image of my wolf staring back at me as I gritted my teeth in anger. I clenched my fists ready to punch the mirror, but I knew that would make Selene worry, and I didn’t want that to happen.

I calmed myself and then looked at the mirror, “you’re not going to break me. I am the alpha of a very strong pack. I don’t need you or anyone to tell me what to do.”

My wolf chuckled. “If you are the alpha, then act like it. Stop acting like a child being led by whatever pheromones that Selene has over you.”

I folded my arms and stared at it. “This is the last warning, stay away.”

It shook its head, then slowly dissipated as I turned on the tap cupped some water in my palms then splashed them over my face. 

I let the cool water calm my raging breath before looking at my reflection in the mirror. I felt calm. I felt relaxed. 

All I needed to do was go out there and win her over. That was all I needed to do. I wasn’t going to stop myself from having the best time of my life with Selene. 

With renewed vigor, I opened the door and got out as I saw her placing a couple of plates filled with food on the dining table.

I got there, placed my arms around her waist and kissed her from behind as she chuckled, turning around to face me.

I looked at her lips, slowly inching to kiss her before she put her finger on my lips to stop me.

“You have to eat first.”

“Why are you stopping me?” I asked as she shrugged. 

“You pushed me away, remember. You wanted to kiss me and then something happened and now I don’t want that to happen again. How about you eat and then later we can discuss more about where you want us to go from here.”

I don’t argue but sat down and started to eat while she sat across from me, taking a cup of tea.

I looked at her. She was beautiful, just the kind of woman that I needed.

Sexy, hot, and she had the aristocratic nature around her. 

“Why are you truly here Kael?” she asked as I looked away from her. 

“I am here to apologize.”

“And?” 

“And bring you back to the pack.”

She raised a brow, “you bringing me back to the pack is not going to work.”

“But why?” I asked, dropping my cutleries in a noisy way before clasping my hands over the table. “Please come back.”

“No,” she shook her head. “I have had enough Kael. I am tired. I have tried to talk to you. I’ve tried to be on your good side, I have tried everything I can for you. I just can’t go back to my old life where I am being ignored on a daily. I’m trying to build something for myself here.”

“Baby, I know that I said I wasn’t going to force you to come back with me, but it’s very important you do.”

“And why would I do that?”

I knew this was a long shot, but I was going to try it out. If I told her how I truly felt, maybe she would forgive me.

“Because… I love you.”

Those words hit her like a shock as her eyes widened. Then slowly she got her composure back, which had her keeping her cup down with a clank.

She looked at me this time, her brows furrowed. She was angry. 

“You love me?” She asked as I nodded.

“I do.”

She scoffed looking away from me, “you love me and you still had to go for that Omega.”

“Oh for the love of the moon. I didn’t go after her for anything romantic. It might be this alpha feeling within me that wants me to protect everybody.”

She chuckled, getting to her feet. “Do you think me a child?”

“What did I say that is wrong?” 

“Kael, listen to me, you’ve been treating her differently from how you treat other people. Do you know how many people went missing while you were out there looking for the Omega? Do you know how many people have gotten missing in the pack in the past few days? I’ve seen the reports. I went ahead to check if this was an alpha thing or this was just you liking her, then I found out that it’s not an alpha thing. Sure alphas have a dedication to their pack, but you on the other hand, how you treated your omega, it was too suspicious for me to just let go like that.

“So what are you saying?” I asked, laying back in my seat and folding my arms. “You’re saying that because of her you’re going to destroy what we have?”

“Of course not,” she rounded the table to stand before me. “I’m saying that because of her we don’t have anything, that is what I’m saying. Because of her what we have is ruined. Because of that Omega, the life we were trying to build is destroyed so maybe go back to her.”

“She’s not a distraction, she is something different. She is someone we can use her powers for good. She brought me back from the dead. Remember, all I need to do is know how she did it and then see if we can use her as a weapon for our pack, that is all.”

She raised a brow and I could tell she didn’t believe me, but I slowly got to my feet and put my hands around her as my hand slid down to her waist. 

“I love you. I want you to know that and stop thinking about the omega. Stop thinking about the pack and think of only us.

From her eyes, it was clear she didn’t trust me, but I was about to show her that she could trust me.

Slowly, I put my lips on hers ws we kissed.

My hands grappled her waist even more, pulling her into me before she tried to steady herself but ended up falling against the table which had an open bottle water spilling water over me.

I chuckled and looked into her eyes. It was clear what was going to happen next.
