Chapter 5 Obliged
Russell pulled out at once, growling in annoyance.
He was yet to get satisfied, but that didn’t matter at that time.
The lady looked back at him. “Why did you stop?” She was already getting to the climax, screaming so loudly without minding Mia’s earlier presence.
“I told you to shut the door!” Russell pulled his pants and was about to zip up when she grabbed his hands.
“We are not yet done, Alpha Russell. Don’t tell me that you want to leave me high and dry because someone saw us.” Nelly frowned, attempting to separate Russell’s hands from his pants.
The Lycan King pushed her away. “Don’t forget why you are here, Nelly.”
Nelly Rowland was 25 and his Personal Assistant.
For two years, their office romance had lingered, transmigrating to the Lycan castle under the disguise of continuing unfinished work.
But it was more than a pleasure for Nelly even though she knew that the cold Alpha had already stated it clearly that he was never going to have anything to do with her or anyone.
Grumbling, she adjusted her skirt and buttoned up to cover her cleavage.
“Who was that?” She couldn’t ignore the fact that she had never seen Mia in the castle, and since she wasn’t dressed as one of the servants, it meant that she could be a rival.
Russell ignored her, but she was persistent.
“Who is she, Alpha Russell?”
“No one of your concern.” Russell pointed at her heels. “Pick them up and wait for me in the living room downstairs.”
That was an order Nelly couldn’t refuse to obey, seeing the Alpha’s stern look.
She grabbed her heels and stomped out of the room.
Russell was drenched with both sweat and guilt.
“This shouldn’t have happened.” He sighed with a vexed expression.
“But you let it happen.” Tristan scolded, growling inside his head.
“Go after her. She is ours.” His wolf suggested, but his last words didn’t make sense to the Lycan King.
“What do you mean by she is ours?”
“Just go and make sure that she doesn’t run away! She is shaken.”
Russell obeyed, grabbed his shirt, and strode along the hallway until he arrived at the room where Mia was kept.
Surprisingly, she was seated on the chair and was already finished eating.
“I thought you would try to escape just like you did last night.” Russell was too ashamed to face her, but she made things easier by not even bothering to look at him.
Mia just stared at the wall and remained silent.
The Alpha cleared his throat. “I am sorry that you had to see that, Mia. That was careless of me.”
Huff! “Why are you explaining yourself? Did you do anything wrong?” Mia finally turned to look at him, and he had nothing to say.
He just looked away slowly, wondering why his heart was beginning to beat faster.
“I wanted to ask if you needed anything.” He finally found something to take over the awkward moment.
“I don’t need anything from you.” Mia’s tone was swift and cold.
She stood up and lay on the bed. “I think you should go back to your mistress before she begins to think that you left her to be with me. I want no trouble.” She grabbed the duvet, covered herself, and faced the wall.
Russell stared at her for a while before he left, shutting the door behind him.
He met Nelly seated in the living room just as he instructed.
She had resumed her role as his Personal Assistant, going through the documents inside the files on the table.
“Good morning, Alpha Russell.” She was always good at pretending in front of the guards and servants, but even if they suspected that anything was going on between them, they wouldn’t dare to even whisper.
Russell didn’t bother to respond. He just sat next to her and grabbed the cup of coffee from the servant awaiting his entrance.
He took a sip. “How many meetings was I supposed to have today?”
“Two, Alpha Russell.” Nelly handed him two documents. “One with the Transcorp Company representatives, and the other with the new investors.”
“Hmm.” Russell went through the documents and nodded.
“Ten years of managing the biggest company in Luna City, and I am still not getting used to this.” He tutted, dropped the documents on the table, and leaned backward.
“What next?” He asked, but before Nelly could answer, Alfred walked into the living room.
“Welcome, Elder Alfred.” The guards bowed, acknowledging his position as the head of the Lycan council.
He stood in front of Russell, glanced at Nelly who avoided his eyes, and scoffed. “I would like to speak to the Alpha.”
Nelly adjusted, but that was not enough.
“Alone!” Alfred added, and she walked out of the living room alongside the guards and servants who left at his signal.
“What have I done this time, Uncle?” Russell asked, seeing his countenance.
Alfred sighed. “Alpha Darrell has declared Mia a rebel.”
Russell arched his brow. “Why would he do that?”
“She is his mate, Russell. Declaring her an enemy of Willow Pack dismisses any claims she has over him and allows him to marry anyone he chooses.”
Russell clenched his fists, growling inwardly.
“Do you think I should interfere, Uncle? Alpha Darrell is under my authority, and as the Lycan…”
“No…” Alfred disagreed before he could finish. “That would only create an internal dispute, and we don’t want that.”
Russell sighed. “So what do you suggest?” He was open to hearing Alfred’s opinion, but he was taking his time.
“She is now your obligation, Russell. For the crimes that you committed against her, you will make sure that she gets better and lives the rest of her life happily and without pain or misery.”
Russell had always been fond of running away from responsibilities, but it seemed fate had tied him to that one.
Alfred was stunned when he accepted what seemed like a challenge to him, but someone walked in before he could speak.
It was the Beta, Marcus, and he looked like there was trouble.
