Chapter 4 Her Safety
The first flicker of dawn surged Mia back to consciousness.
She had seen a lot of things while she was still unconscious, but it was hard to tell if they were just nightmares or visions.
All they did was remind her of the pain she had to endure.
She groaned, struggling to find a comfortable posture to ease her pain.
“Good morning.” Russell was seated in front of her on a chair.
He had kept watch all through the night, and nothing else mattered to him except restitution.
Mia had not forgotten that the Lycan King killed her parents. “What are you doing here?!” She created more space between them, scowling and wary at the same time.
“Easy, Mia. You will hurt yourself.”
She was about to ask how the ruthless Alpha knew her name, but remembered that it was boldly inscribed on her necklace.
That was the moment Russell realized how enchanting she was, staring at her ocean blue eyes which were the same as her mother’s.
Her raven black hair cascaded like a river down her shoulders, glittering under the rays of the early sunlight.
She had the perfect face, and also the most carved slender body.
“What are you staring at?!” Mia snapped, irritated by his long gaze.
Russell took a deep breath. “You were just a child when it happened. I never thought that you would grow to become this beautiful.”
Snort!
Mia glowered.
“You are not just a ruthless killer! You are also a pervert!” Mia didn’t care about the rule that everyone knew.
The Lycan King was to be shown utmost respect by everyone who belonged to the Northern territory consisting of Willow Pack, and three other Packs.
The fact that he was way older and complimented her was enough to make her detest him the more.
“I am sorry. I was just trying to be nice.”
“You forgot to be nice when you killed my parents!” Mia barked, grabbing the duvet to cover her thighs which the short dress failed to reach.
Russell felt the inclination to explain, but he wasn’t sure if she was going to listen.
“I was young and wild, Mia. I was just twenty, and was rebelling against my father after my mother died.”
Mia wanted to hold onto her resentment and ignore him, but it was hard not to listen to know what happened to her parents.
So she looked away but kept paying attention.
“I was given a task at the Eastern Territory to wipe out an entire Pack for their defiance.” Russell sighed heavily, but the cringe still gripped him.
“My soldiers and I killed everyone except you, Mia. I couldn’t do it, so I brought you back to the Northern territory and took you to Willow Pack. Your mother begged me to give you a note before my soldiers dragged her away. It read…”
“I hope she finds me when she grows older.” Mia recited the exact words that had never left her mind.
Tears trickled down her face, and she sniffled.
She had hoped to find her mother someday, but realizing that she had been killed by Russell and his soldiers crushed her hope.
“I am sorry, Mia. I was only acting under instructions. The fate of the Northern territory depended on it.”
“When can I leave this place?!”Mia cared less about his apology.
She realized that the door was locked, and that made her a bit apprehensive.
“As soon as you are okay, Mia.” Russell gave an unsatisfactory response, and she needed more details.
“When exactly?”
“Relax, Mia. I am not going to hurt you. I just need to make sure that you are in a healthy condition before I let you go. It could take a couple of days or weeks.”
“So you are keeping me prisoner?” She squinched her face in annoyance. “You can’t keep me prisoner, Alpha Russell. I want to go home!”
Russell sighed. “You have no home, Mia.”
Mia arched her brows. “I have a home!” She insisted, but that only made the Alpha smirk.
Russell grabbed a file from the floor, flipped it open, and began to read. “Mia Coleman. Turned twenty yesterday, and dumped by Alpha Darrell Walker after she found out that her sister was pregnant with his child.”
He shook his head in empathy, but there was still more.
“Found by her adoptive parents at their doorstep when she was probably five. Mia is yet to shift, but has shown tremendous improvement in her ability to sense things around her. Finished top of her class in college, and currently an intern in the Walker Company.”
Russell closed the file and kept it back. “I am sure that role no longer belongs to you.” He kept his smile, but Mia was provoked.
“Just within a few hours, you have dug up all the information about me.”
A knock came, and Russell moved to unlock the door, letting in two servants carrying a tray and a dish.
They carefully placed them on a table close to the bed, bowed, and left in a hurry.
“Your food is ready. You must eat, Mia.” Russell opened the dish, revealing the delicacy that had the sweetest aroma.
Mia gave the impression that she was afraid that the food and even the cup of coffee and glass of water could be poisoned.
Russell scoffed. “I didn’t kill you when you were little, Mia. What makes you think that I will kill you now?” He stood up and pointed at the things on the table.
“If you want to avenge the death of your parents, you need all the strength you can get. Killing me won’t be that easy, Mia.” He left the room, closing the door behind him.
Mia was hungry, but her enemy had set a table before her.
She turned to the door, and seeing that it was unlocked, she couldn’t ignore the urge to walk out of the room.
Holding onto her balance, she staggered along the hallway with the intention of moving to the staircase.
But a sound stopped her.
She couldn’t ignore the female voice that seemed to be in pain.
Her eyes were barely open, but she located the exact room, thinking she was in trouble.
The door was halfway open, so she pushed with both hands.
Her eyes beheld what she wasn’t meant to see.
“Yes, Alpha Russell! Deeper!”
The painful scream was that of pleasure.
Russell was banging a blonde lady about Mia’s age on a blue couch in his bedroom.
They were so engulfed in the euphoria that they didn’t realize that she was standing right there.
Russell’s hard and long cock made her swallow hard, eyes bulging as it rammed the lady from behind.
Then they saw her, but before Russell could react, she had already fled.
