Chapter 31 Darrell’s Mate
“This is not the right place for this, Hayley.” Alara insisted, her grip on Hayley’s hand strong and unshaking.
She turned to Iris, and seeing that she still had her eyes on him, she took a deep breath.
“Don’t say a word to him, Iris. Let me handle this, okay?” She pulled Hayley backward.
“Sit down.” She ordered, and Hayley obeyed reluctantly.
Mia could no longer remain quiet.
“Who is that?”
“That’s Olsen Sanders, Iris’s ex-mate. Those are his two friends, or rather, his puppets.” Alara grunted, taking a deep breath.
Mia turned to Olsen, staring as he walked up to them with a wry smile.
His black curly hair crowned his perfectly chiseled face, his hands swaying as he moved, seeming like he was trying to display his expensive wristwatch.
His yellow eyes shone brightly as he moved, sparking with arrogance and pride.
His cohorts followed him behind, keeping a close distance.
“Ladies?” He bowed, placing his right hand on his chest without getting rid of his wry smile.
When he eventually lifted his head, he turned to Iris, he sighed heavily, inching closer to her.
“Iris? How are you?”
“What do you care?” Hayley asked with a scowl, struggling with the urge to get up.
Olsen turned to her, snarling silently.
“I wasn’t talking to you, Hayley. You stay out of this.”
“That’s not going to happen.” Hayley finally pushed herself up from her seat, matching the height of the male werewolf.
Olsen’s friends were eager to step in, but he stopped them.
“Don’t waste your time on her, guys. We don’t want her lustful step-brothers coming after us,”
Olsen’s friends backed down, growling at Hayley.
He returned his eyes to Iris, ignoring Hayley’s presence.
“Can I have a word, baby? We need to talk.”
“We have nothing to talk about, Olsen.” Iris gave a quick response, and Alara nodded.
Hayley sniggered at Olsen, sneering at him.
“I am glad you heard that, Olsen. Now I think it’s time for you and your boys to leave. This lounge has been fully booked and paid for."
Olsen huffed, and then he took a deep breath, staring Hayley in the eyes.
“I am not leaving, Hayley. What are you going to do about it?”
Hayley growled, clenching her fists tightly.
She turned to Alara, and as expected, she urged her to remain calm.
Alara stood up, and then she moved closer to Hayley.
“Let me…” She whispered, and as soon as Hayley moved out of the way, she stepped forward, forcing a smile.
Standing in front of Olsen, she sighed heavily, forcing a smile.
“Oh wow!” Olsen scoffed, smirking at Alara.
“I didn’t know that Alpha Russell’s kid sister was here with us. My bad.” She turned to his friends, still holding onto his wry smile.
“Guys? Alara is here with us. We are graced with royalty.”
“That’s right.” Ethan nodded, sniggering loudly.
He was as pesky as Olsen, and they had similar features.
Same hair, same height, and even the same color of eyes.
He looked at Iris, and then at Mia.
“Chiron?” He nudged his other friend, his eyes still fixed on Mia.
“Look at that damsel. I don’t think I have seen her around.” He inched closer, gawking with wide eyes.
“Hello, Miss.” He waved, but Mia ignored him, pretending like he hadn’t heard what he said.
Chiron stared at Mia, and to be certain of what was registered inside his mind, he inched closer to her.
“I know her…” He muttered, taking another step forward.
Mia looked at Chiron, but his face had not even the smallest ounce of familiarity.
She cleared her throat, turning to Alara.
Just then, the bartender returned with a tray, and sensing the tension in the room, he walked slowly, his hands shaking nervously.
He was particularly concerned about Olsen, reminded of his past encounters with him.
He made a quick move, attempting to drop the tray and walk away, but Olsen stopped him.
He swallowed hard, watching as Olsen grabbed a glass from the tray and gulped.
Olsen smacked, nodding with a wry smile.
He dropped the empty glass on the tray and waved the bartender to move.
The terrified young man hurried to the table, dropped the tray, and scrambled away, holding onto his breath.
Mia thought that the short distraction was going to be the end of the inquisition, but Chiron resumed at once, inching closer to her.
Then he pointed to her, nodding in conviction.
“Yes! It’s you!” He turned to Olsen, expecting to see a reaction from him.
“Don’t tell me you don’t recognize her, Olsen.”
“No, I don’t.” Olsen shook his head, turning to Mia.
“Should I?” He stared at her for a few seconds, and when he was still unable to recognize her, he returned his eyes to Chiron, demanding an explanation.
Chiron cleared his throat, and then he lowered his finger.
“That’s Mia Coleman. Alpha Darrell’s mate.” He blurted, his voice firm and unwavering.
Ethan scoffed, turning to Mia.
“No way. It can’t be.” He wanted to doubt, but Chiron’s expression was too firm.
Mia’s heart beat faster, especially with the eyes staring at her, including the ladies.
She swallowed hard, feeling the tension that gripped her.
Olsen had his eyes on Mia the whole time, and when he was finally ready to break his silence, he took a deep breath, turning to face Chiron.
“How sure are you about this?”
“I am very certain, Olsen. The last time I was at Willow Pack for a deal with the Alpha, I saw Mia with him, and the Alpha introduced her as his mate.”
Mia’s heart skipped a beat, and suddenly she remembered Chiron’s face.
“That was a year ago.” She thought, but it didn’t matter at that moment.
Alara was the only one who doubted what Chiron said, she turned to Mia, demanding clarification with her eyes.
“Chiron is lying, right Mia?” She begged to get a no for an answer, staring into Mia’s eyes.
