Chapter 30 The Table
“Oh my!” Alara gasped, covering her mouth with both hands.
“I always knew that dude was no good for her.” She sighed heavily, hastening her steps to the table.
She sat next to Iris, and then she pushed closer and hugged her.
“My sweet friend! I am so sorry!”
Iris left her arms spread, and then she turned to Hayley and shook her head in disapproval.
Her eyes glared until she saw Mia, and then they glittered with curiosity.
“Who is that?” She asked, returning her gaze to Hayley.
Knowing who she was talking about, Alara decided to answer the question.
She slowly pulled away from the embrace, and then she turned to Mia with a smile.
“Come sit.” She waited until Mia and Hayley were seated before she cleared her throat and spoke in a low tone.
“This is Mia.” She paused for a few seconds and continued with a whisper.
“She is my brother’s mate.”
Iris widened her eyes, turning to Mia.
“What did you just say?” She returned her eyes to Alara, begging for conviction.
Alara chuckled, nodding her head slowly.
“I almost didn’t believe it until I heard them.” She chuckled coyly, and the other ladies turned to Mia, their stares causing her to look away.
Hayley chuckled, winking at Mia. “How is he, Mia?!” She asked, pushing closer to Mia.
“I heard Alphas are not just stronger in combat, they are also stronger down there…”
“Hayley?!” Iris called out, both her eyes and voice cautioning Hayley.
“What” Hayley arched her brows, having no remorse until it finally hit her.
“My bad.” She said shamefully, looking away.
Alara grabbed Mia’s hands and waited until she was looking at her.
“Pay no attention to Hayley, Mia. She is a wild slut, little winder she has been claimed by her three step brothers.”
“Well…” Hayley grunted, in search of the right words to defend herself.
“You can’t blame me. My step-brothers are hot, and they take very good care of me. I don’t think I would want anyone else to enjoy all of that package. Especially the one down there.” She laughed, ignoring the stares she got from Mia and Alara.
Mia stared at Hayley for a while, and then she shook her head in disbelief.
When she noticed that Iris was quiet and withdrawn, she turned to her, leaning close with concern.
“Iris?” She called out, but Iris was lost in thought.
Alara’s attention was drawn at once, and turning to Iris, she cleared her throat, inching closer to her.
“Don’t tell me you are thinking about that fool.” She grunted, and then she grabbed Iris, adjusting her to face her.
Iris bent her face to the ground, sighing in despair.
Alara grunted, and then she pulled her head up.
“Hey! Look at me!” She forced Iris to keep her head straight, staring her in the eyes.
She paused for a while, and with a low tone, she remarked, “He is not worth even a single drop of your tears. You are a damsel, and you deserve nothing but the best. He is not even up to half of it.”
Iris nodded, and then she forced a smile.
But it only lasted for a few seconds before it was drained by anger and sadness.
“Cheer up!” Hayley said to her, and then she looked around.
“Where is that bartender? I think we need to get this party started.” She sighed the young man in a white shirt with folded sleeves, and instantly, she waved at him.
As the bartender approached, she turned to Iris, gesturing to her.
“Look at him, Iris. He is hot!”
Iris took a glance, and then she scoffed.
“He is Human, Hayley,”
“And so?” Hayley arched her brows, and when she saw the look of displeasure on the faces of her friends, she scoffed.
“He may be human, but he is hot. Look at those brown eyes. I could do with some of his blood.”
She had to be quiet the moment the bartender got closer, but she didn’t want to get rid of her smile.
“Welcome, ladies.” The bartender said with a smile, looking at them one after the other.
“What would you like to have?”
“We will start with three shots of tequila each,” Alara said, and Hayley nodded.
“Get us a bottle of whiskey, two bottles of vodka, and some ice.” She added, and when Mia was about to object, she shook her head.
“No, Mia. We are not doing that tonight.”
Mia sighed, watching as the bartender walked away to get their order.
“This is not going to end well.” She muttered, taking a deep breath.
She turned to Iris, and seeing that she had been staring at her for a while, she was forced to look down at her own neck, wondering what she had been staring at.
“I love your necklace, Mia. It must be quite expensive.” Iris pushed forward and touched the pearl necklace, her smile expanding.
Mia chuckled softly, reminded of the story behind the necklace.
“Thank you, Iris. Alpha Russell gave it to me.”
“Oh…” Iris nodded, surprise etched on her face.
Hayley’s attention was drawn to the necklace, and astounded by its beauty, she nodded in admiration.
“Now this is what I call an Alpha who knows how to take care of his mate.” She said calmly, and then she turned to Iris.
“I am definitely naming my son after the Alpha. He must be this sweet.” She expected to get a reaction from Iris, but seeing that she was mute and vexed, she took a deep breath, staring with curiosity.
“What is it, Iris?” She asked, but there was no response.
Then Alara grunted, looking in the same direction as Iris.
“Not tonight.” She grunted, clenching her fists tightly.
Hayley moved her eyes to the entrance of the lounge, and seeing who everyone had been looking at, she growled, getting up at once.
“What’s he doing here?!” She asked, her tone laced with anger.
She made a move, but Alara quickly grabbed her hands, causing her to grunt.
