Chapter 67 Big sister

Chapter 67 Big sister
Ciara

“Looks like it’s raining coronations.” My mother said as she walked into the room, holding a letter. I rolled my eyes as I tried on my dress for any last-minute adjustments. I was finally going to take over the throne tomorrow. Thanks to my mother, none of the elders opposed, and the villagers remained unaware of the illegitimate son's existence.

“Is it someone important?” I asked.

“Well, the pack used to be important. These days Silver Pack is just a child's toy.”

“Did you say Silver Heart?” I motioned for the servant girl to unzip my dress. She quickly did so and I noticed her hands were shaking. It made me happy knowing that I instilled fear in those around me.

“Yes. The first son was made Alpha today. I didn’t even remember because we have been swamped. Yours is tomorrow.”

Oh, that was today? Elijah’s brother was made the Alpha. I wonder if some part of Elijah was jealous.

“And the wedding?” I asked. My source had informed me that the two occasions were happening on the same day. It made me happy knowing that Lara was finally going to be out of our hair. Even though Elijah was angry at me, his anger wouldn’t last long.

“I don’t know about that but the invitation says wedding and coronation so I guess it worked out,” Mom replied. The smile on my face stretched even more. It couldn’t get any better than this. My little tip-off to Jacob about Lara’s whereabouts solved my problem and mom didn’t even have to step in as usual.

“Hmph.. I wonder if Elijah is on his way here.” I put on my casual dress.

“After what you did?” Mom asked jokingly and I smiled.

“Elijah may look tough-headed but he’s the softest man I know. He will be here, I promise.” I said confidently.

I felt a little bad for betraying his trust but Elijah and I went way back. He understood why this coronation meant to me and I knew for certain he would be here tomorrow.

Someone knocked on the door and I was about to send the person away when the head maid barged in. She was my mother’s closest confidant so neither of us took offense. Plus she looked like she had seen a ghost.

“L..Luna.” She stuttered. “I just saw that woman enter Elder Randall’s house.”

By that woman, she meant the wench who gave birth to my father’s son. It was the evening before my coronation and she was making such a visit. Turned out that she wasn’t as dumb as I made her out to be.

“Any idea if she has visited anyone else?” My mother asked.

The head maid shook her head, “I contacted a friend of mine in Elder Ragnor’s house and she said that they were expecting a visitor. The servants were all expected to keep quiet about it.”

My mother laughed but I knew it meant danger. “So they are all plotting something behind our backs.”

“We won’t let them,” I said with a sadistic smile on my face. My mother squeezed my hand in affection and nodded in agreement.

“Announce a meeting with all the elders this instant. Convey how urgent it is that they all attend or it will be deemed treason.” She ordered. Her head maid nodded quickly and slipped out of the room hurriedly.

I headed straight to my closet and changed into my trusted pants and combat boots. I safely attached my dagger to my waist and tied my hair up.

“Time to finally pay my brother a visit.”

“Don’t kill him just yet.” My mother said but she had a mischievous smile on her face.

“I’ll try not to.”

We heard a soft gasp in the room. The servant girl from earlier looked petrified as she stood in a corner with my dress in her hands. I had completely forgotten about her. From the look of things, she was abreast of the entire situation.

I walked closer to her, taking one of my ceremonial long hairpins from the table.

“What’s your name?” I asked her sweetly. She didn’t notice the hairpin in my hand as she hugged my dress close to her.

“Lana, your highness.” She replied fearfully.

I narrowed my eyes at her name. Even if I considered sparing her, her name sounded too much like Lara’s and it pissed me off.

“Well Lana, I need you to go and tell my father that I’m going to lead this pack whether he likes it or not,” I told her, brushing her hair with my fingertips.

“But how do..”

I stabbed her in the neck with my metallic hairpin. Her mouth was wide open as she tried to breath but it was too late. Blood gushed down from her neck and I used my other hand to drag my coronation dress away from her hands before it got stained. Her legs gave out and she slid down to the floor while bleeding excessively. The sight made me sigh in satisfaction. Killing was really therapeutic.

“Shouldn’t you be on your way now?” My mother asked impatiently and I nodded while wiping my hand on Lana’s dress.

“On my way,” I said before giving her a quick kiss on her head. I didn’t have to bother about the body in my room. Mother dearest had it covered.

I got on my horse and headed to the far outskirts of the village. Mother had found the wench’s house which my father had beautifully built for her and her son. He had even placed guards there in case an enemy attacked. Little did he know that I would be the one here. I got to the house and saw the guards there already. At the sight of me, they instantly knelt in respect. That was more like it.

“Is the boy in?”

The head guard looked at me in surprise before nodding his head. That reaction made me know that he knew the identity of the boy. I headed inside and saw a child run towards the front door.

“Mama?”

The smile on his face instantly dropped when he saw it was me. He looked at me curiously but I was too frozen to react. The boy before me was a splitting image of my father. One would even wonder if his mother’s DNA played any role at all.

“Who are you?”

The longer I looked at the boy, the more my anger heightened. I could imagine how much my father must have loved this boy. Not only was he a boy but his replica. Oh father was never going to leave his throne for me if he was alive. Not when this boy existed.

“Well, I’m Ciara. Do you want to go somewhere fun?” I asked, squatting to his eye level. He looked at me suspiciously before grinning.

“Yes!” He threw his hands up in victory and I smiled. I took his hand and headed out of the house. The head guard looked at me unsure but I equally smiled at him. He seemed to slowly calm down.

“Tell his mother that his big sister took him to play,” I said and the huge man nodded.

We were going to play a game of hide and seek.
