What's happening?
ALICIA'S POV
“Where have you been?” Finn asked, a worried look plastered all over his face.
“Uhm… about that, you shouldn't worry about me.” I scoffed casually trying to regain my breath.
“Are you sure about that Licia? Why are you panting?” He asked again and all these questions were threatening to drive me insane!
“I said, I'm fine, don't worry about me!” I replied unaware of the fact my voice was loud. Loud enough for anyone to hear, but he didn't care about that, his attention was rather fixed on something else, he scanned my body which made me nervous and uncomfortable and before I could say ‘jack’ he took steps forward, his gaze buried on my neck region and within a nanosecond I saw his expression drift, he tightened his cheekbone and forced a smirk. I rolled my eyes, who was he trying to fool? I was no kid.
“What's wrong?” I ask, pulling out my phone from my bag and texting Vanessa. I hadn't seen her since I arrived at the venue.
“I should be asking you that. Miss.” His response was nonchalantly, causing me to lift my gaze to him.
That's strange.
“Huh?”
“While I'm out here working about you it seems you had the perfect distraction backstage.” He sneered.
“What does that even mean?” I asked, curious. Somehow I sensed he had seen or noticed something that made him jump to such conclusions.
“Are you denying the fact you were back there having fun with the triplets?” He snapped, really loud.
I motioned for him to reduce his voice as some group of girls walked towards us.
“Hi Finn! You look so handsome.” One of the girls yelled.
“Oh my gosh, is that Finn? The famous Finn? Can I get a selfie?” The second girl asked.
“Hey girls, what's up.” He smiled and seeing that I had to force myself to wear a happy look as well.
“Can we take selfies with you? If she doesn't mind.” The third glanced over at me. Envy was written all over her face and I forced myself to smile again.
“Sure, you can go on.” I say, shifting away from them.
It took forever for them to be done and I finally got some alone time with Finn.
“What were you saying about the triplets?” I queried.
“Your neck says it all.” He scoffed.
“Mind your business Finn. That's my personal life!” I growled.
“That's exactly what I'm doing, minding my business! You wanted the triplets away, why then are you fcking them.”
“Finn!” I yelled.
“Look, I don't care about your personal life but if you want this to work and for everyone to believe it. You've got to make it real. Not sneaky.” He spat and for the first time in a while, I really did feel bad. I wanted to say something but he walked away.
“Finn.. where are you going?” I whispered.
“Away from you.” He scoffed.
~
Everyone gathered at the center of the event, I looked around nervously, no sight of Finn nor the triplets.
I didn't like the fact Finn and I were already quarrelling on our first day! I'm still pondering and thinking about how best to apologise to him when a group of guys leaned forward to me.
“Hello pretty girl, are you alone?”
I try to ignore them and shift to another spot when one of them grabs my hand.
“I could make you feel good.” He whispered and I felt self control loose it graps on me.
I punched him hard on the face and tried to run away but the other two circled me immediately.
“Leave her alone.” I heard Finn's voice from the background and instantly the boys trembled and ran away.
He drew close to me, his mood much brighter than before and I felt guilty for the incident that had happened earlier.
“Thank you.” I mumbled. “Also I'm sorry…” I added.
“It's fine, Licia. Shall we toast to a new friendship?” he leaned forward, and picked up a glass of champagne from a tray.
I reached out to pick mine but the waitress accidentally spilled the drink, I managed to escape my dress being stained in the process and I heaved relief, picking the glass of wine nearest to my reach.
Finn and I toasted and gulped the drink down in a fleet.
As I gulped it down, I noticed a foreign presence around me. I had this weird feeling someone was watching me. Someone not so far… I turned around and scanned the entire area but there was no one there.
“Is there a problem?” Finn asked.
Just as I was about to talk,
the lights suddenly went off and I began to feel my head spinning.
