Dark Magic
Dark Magic
Vinorca Jona POV
“Then touch me. Show me how much you hate me yet want me.” The words slurred past my lips, my chest heaving.
My ass pressed against the hard table, legs wrapped around his torso, and the position left me achingly close. His crotch practically ground against me through our clothes.
“You’re going to throw me into a rut if you keep leaking these pheromones, bunny.” He dropped his head to my shoulder.
I opened my eyes and let the tears fall, heat consuming me from the inside out. “Ru...t?” I fumbled over the word, but it was all I could manage. With every sensation in my body going wild, it was a miracle my senses were even remotely intact.
“My mate.” The word came out as a growl as he sucked at the side of my neck.
“Ahmh.” The moan tore from me as his saliva and tongue eased the fire under my skin.
Dante’s hands slid beneath my top, fingers grazing my bare waist before pinching lightly. My mouth, which had been desert-dry moments before, flooded with saliva at the touch.
As if his hands were my salvation and I was desperate for every second of it.
“More. I want more.” The whisper broke from me, raw and shameless. “Give me everything. I want you in me, under my skin.” Tomorrow might bring regret, but right now, nothing else could satisfy this need clawing through me.
“I’m on the verge of losing control, Vin.” His hand slid higher, slipping under my bra, and his large, cold palm cupped my breast.
His fingers gripped it firmly, kneading like I was something he needed to hold onto. His tongue and teeth continued their assault on my neck, and I arched into him.
“Then lose it. I already have no control left.” My breath hitched as his grip tightened. “You said I’m your mate. Then claim me.” The irony wasn’t lost on me.
The whole situation was a mess. I had two wolves, one claiming I was his mate, the other denying it entirely. But in this moment, none of that mattered. I was in heat, which meant my she-wolf had surfaced, and Dante was her mate.
“Shit. Yeah, you’re my mate.” Dante pulled back from my neck, and disappointment flared through me as the warmth of his mouth vanished. At least his hand still held my breast in that firm, possessive grip.
I looked into his eyes. They were entirely yellow now, glowing with primal intensity. His wolf had taken control.
“Mate.” The word rumbled from him, deeper and rawer than Dante’s voice. “I’m Lufi. Dante’s wolf. And your wolf’s mate.” His voice washed over me, deeper than Dante’s but somehow soothing, like the peace I’d been chasing my entire life had just poured over me in seconds.
“My wolf’s... mate?” The question came out breathless, my voice still unsteady and jumping all over the place.
“Nice to meet you, mate.” He squeezed my breast again, then leaned in and kissed my cheek. Soft, almost reverent.
If I hadn’t already been flushed red from the heat, that kiss and the tenderness in his tone would’ve done it. I was certain I looked like a tomato.
“You’re sweet,” I purred.
“Totally. Dante’s a dick. I’m a distinguished gentleman.”
“Haa…” A laugh escaped my lips, the easiness kicking me hard enough to bring a sliver of relief.
“I’m jealous that he made you laugh.” The words pulled me from my thoughts, and Dante’s eyes had returned to normal, his original red.
I grinned. “Jealous of your own wolf?”
“Even the air you breathe makes me jealous somehow, and here you are laughing for that prick.” He rubbed his thumb over my nipple, stimulating me.
“He sounds like a sweetheart,” I said, breathless. “Can’t say the same about you.”
He narrowed his eyes and pinched my nipple, drawing a groan from my throat. “I may be a prick, but that doesn’t stop you from groaning or moaning for me.”
“Tell me one thing, Dante.” I didn’t know why I wanted to ask this now, in this situation, but I wouldn’t get a better chance. It was something I needed to know.
“Ask me, Vin.” He kissed my nose, looking at me softly with those red eyes. My heart beat a thousand times faster.
“How did the papers you faked about being the adopted son of my family show you as my stepbrother and not my adopted brother?” My head was a mess of puzzles. The question felt out of pocket even to me.
Dante blinked, visibly shocked. “Really, Vin? You want to ask this when we’re in this situation?”
I nodded. “I’ve always wanted to ask.”
“I faked that I was your father’s son with another woman, and that your parents adopted me to hide his infidelity.”
My eyes widened. He’d really done that. Made my father out to be an arsehole cheater when he’d been such a devoted husband.
Anger bubbled inside me, cutting through the heat.
“Then how are you still Alpha?” If he’d faked everything, how was he still the Scout family’s son?
“I told them your parents sold me to the Scout family so I could be the Alpha. Our parents were close, and mine needed an heir since they couldn’t have kids.” He answered it as if nothing was wrong with the words he’d just spat out.
He didn’t even respect his own parents. Nothing good could come from him, not after knowing how he’d ruined my father’s reputation and even his own family’s.
The question still stood: how had nothing ever come out? Ten years, and not a single soul knew? How?
What kind of dark magic had he used to hide such a thing, even though it was a lie, a massive, filthy lie?
“I know what you’re thinking, baby bunny.” Dante tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. “After I got the adoption sorted, I killed every single soul who knew the truth. Not a single being left alive to spill.”
