Esmeralda

Eliza's POV

The following day arrived with a shimmer of sunlight breaking through the clouds, a hopeful contrast to the anxiety swirling within me. Rylan, Rio, Enzo, Ed, and I gathered in the training yard, our chosen space for the first lesson with Esmeralda. The air buzzed with anticipation, and I could feel the energy from my mates, each excited to begin this new chapter.

As we stood together, the vastness of the courtyard loomed around us, adorned with ancient stone and vibrant greenery, a reminder of our heritage. My heart raced, and I could see that nervous energy mirrored in the eyes of my mates.

"I can't believe it's finally here," Rylan said, his fingers brushing mine. "We're about to make history."

"I hope she's everything they say she is," Ed mused, crossing his arms as he scanned the surroundings. "We need a mentor who can challenge us."

"I'm ready for any challenge she throws at us," I asserted, trying to channel my determination into a solid anchor against doubt. I wondered what this Esmeralda would look like. I prayed she would be patient with me, at the very least.

Just then, the palace doors creaked open, and a figure emerged. I saw my brother smiling as she laughed and joked with someone. It was her. Esmeralda stepped forward, her presence commanding yet calm. She was wrapped in flowing robes that whispered with every movement, her silver hair cascading like a waterfall down her back. Her eyes sparkled with ancient wisdom, and I felt an overwhelming respect wash over me. She was beautiful , and even my quadruplet mates were blown away by the sight.

"Good morning, dear ones," she greeted, her voice melodic. "Today marks a critical point in your journey."

"Thank you for being here, Esmeralda," I replied, my throat dry with excitement and reverence. "I am ready to learn."

"Good luck, sis!" Alex called out as he headed back indoors.

"Learning is not just about skills but understanding oneself," she stated, her gaze piercing my soul. "Tell me, Eliza, what do you feel when you pool your energy?" She got straight to the point, causing me to glance at my mates, who all gave me that same encouraging smile.

I hesitated, searching for the words. "It's like a storm inside me. A mixture of fear and excitement, like I'm on the brink of something powerful."

Esmeralda nodded, a knowing smile crossing her lips. "Power, my dear, is a balance. It can't solely be about battles and defences. First, we must cultivate our core. Are you prepared to dive into your innermost self?"

Nods of determination from my mates encouraged me onward. "Yes, I'm ready." I wiggled my fingers at my sides and bit my lip.

"We can do this!" Jasmine reminded me.

"Boys, perhaps you can leave us to our first lesson," Esmeralda said, raising an eyebrow as the quadruplets clumsily stood up and walked away. I giggled at the sight of them, unsure of what to do. "We cannot have the princess being distracted."

"Then, let's begin." She turned her focus back to me, and I allowed her to lead me through the lessons she had carefully planned.

The lessons that day were unlike anything I had ever experienced. Esmeralda guided me through the delicate intricacies of energy pooling—how to visualize my strength, harness my body's currents, and manifest them outward in controlled bursts.

We spent hours practising, and with each attempt, I felt the rhythm of my energy synchronizing with my breath. Esmeralda pushed me and keenly observed as I struggled and triumphed with my small victories.

"Remember," Esmeralda reminded me during a break, "this practice is about understanding—not just control. You must learn to listen to your energy, feel it, and respect it."

As Esmeralda finished speaking, I nodded intently, her words echoing within me. I felt a sense of connection to her, a sense that she genuinely understood the turmoil brewing within me.

I took a deep breath, focusing on the lesson at hand. Esmeralda guided me through various exercises, teaching me to visualize my energy, harness it, and manifest it in controlled bursts. With each attempt, I felt my body synchronizing with the rhythm of my energy, and with each step forward, I felt a sense of confidence growing within me.

The sun beat down the courtyard as the day wore on, casting a warm glow over the scene. I felt the heat radiating off the stones, but Esmeralda merely smiled, gesturing for me to continue. Her patience and guidance were a balm to my anxiety, soothing my fears and doubts.

I closed my eyes, feeling the flow of energy within me. It was like a storm, a turbulent mix of excitement and fear, but Esmeralda's words still echoed in my mind: "Remember, this practice is about understanding—not just control. You must learn to listen to your energy, feel it, and respect it."

I focused on the sensation, letting it wash over me. The fear and excitement dissipated, replaced by calm and clarity. It was as if I had finally found a key to understanding the mysteries within me.

I took a deep breath, and with a newfound confidence, I opened my eyes to meet Esmeralda's gaze. She smiled, her eyes sparkling with ancient wisdom.

"Eliza, you're a quick learner," she said, her voice full of warmth. "I think you're ready for the next step."

My heart skipped a beat as she gestured for me to follow her. I nodded, my excitement building, and I trailed behind her as she led me to a secluded corner of the courtyard.

"What's the next step?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me.

Esmeralda's smile grew wider. "We're going to explore the depths of your inner self. Are you ready?"
