Chapter 38
Chapter 38
Rosalina's Point of View
I woke up shocked to see Kane, Kelly, and Dr. Sally. I immediately knew that I was in the hospital. "What happened?" I asked, trying to remember.
"Rose, you are awake. I was so worried," Kane said as he placed his hand in mine. He placed his hand on mine, and I gasped when I felt the pleasurable sparks go through my body. They were stronger than before. I could feel worry, love, and thankfulness. I looked at him and figured out that those were his feelings.
Kane smelled better than he ever smelled before, like sandalwood, cinnamon, and vanilla. I could smell it all day. Then, a word kept being said in my head. "Mate!"
"How are you feeling?" Kane asked
"I feel okay," I said, and then I started to remember what happened before I passed out. I remembered being upset with Kane and arguing with him. I remember the headache that I had and the pain that went through my body. Then I passed out.
"Rose, I know this might sound crazy, but you shifted for the first time," Kane said
"How could I shift into a wolf? Is it because we are mates?" I asked.
"No, you can only shift if you were born a werewolf," Dr. Sally said
"So, you are telling me that I am a werewolf? I don't see how that is possible. My mom is human," I said. Kane and Kelly looked at each other. Then Kelly and Dr. Sally left the room, leaving me with Kane. We were silent for a while, and then Kane spoke
"Do you remember everything that happened?" Kane asked
"Yes, I remember we were arguing and I got really upset, then my head started to hurt really bad. After a while, my whole body started to hur,t and then I passed out," I said
"You shifted before you passed out. That is why you started to feel pain all over," Kane said
"So, if I shift again it will be painful," I asked. If that was the case, I didn't want to shift again.
"No. The first shift is always the hardest. We normally prepare for our first shift at a young age but you didn't get to do that. That's why you passed out after shifting because you were not prepared, but it will get better now. You might feel a little discomfort on your next few shifts but then you won't feel anything. It will become natural for you to shift," Kane said
"I just don't understand how I am a werewolf. My mom never told me anything about this. How did I shift?" I said
"Well, that is something I needed to talk to you about. Dr. Sally ran some blood tests and found that you had wolfsroot in your system," Kane said
"What is that?" I asked confused
"Wolfsroot is an herb that is poisonous to werewolves. It can even cause someone to lose their wolf if they take it for a long amount of time. Dr. Sally believes that you had been taking for a long time but stopped, and that is why there was only a trace of it in your system," Kane said.
"I have never taken it before. I've never heard of it until now," I said, and Kane just looked at me. For some reason, I could feel that he was worried he would hurt me.
"What's wrong? Why are you worried?" I asked, and Kane looked at me.
"You can feel my emotions?" Kane asked
"Yeah, ever since I woke up," I replied honestly
"It must be because you have shifted. Our bond is getting stronger now. Can you feel the matebond?" Kane asked
"I keep hearing a word in my head. Mate. Its because you are my mate," I said
"Yes, your wolf senses me as your mate. That is why you are hearing that word in your head," Kand said.
"Why are you worried?" I asked him again.
"I believe your mom is the one who gave you the wolfsroot so that you wouldn't shift," Kane said
"No, that is impossible," I said, and then I became quiet. I didn't want to believe that my mom would do that. Would she keep something like this away from me? I know she wasn't the best mom in the world but would she hurt me like that? I hoped not but in the back of my head I wasn't so sure.
"Rose, I know you don't want to believe this, but I have a feeling I am right. I think she didn't want you to learn that you are a werewolf, so she gave you wolfsbane. You just recently stopped taking it because there are still traces of it in your system. Is there anything you haven't taken since your mom left?" Kane asked, and that is when it hit me. There was something I had stopped taking right after my mom left. I just nodded my head.
"What is it?" Kane asked
"My diabetic medicine. My mom had me take it every day. She even reminded me to take it since she left, but I haven't taken it because I have been feeling better since I stopped," I said, and Kane frowned. "They weren't for my diabetes, were they?" I asked
"I don't think so. Werewolves don't get diabetes," Kane replied.
"I can't believe this. She lied to me," I said. Why would my mom do this to me? Why would she lie?
"Do you still have them?" Kane asked
"Yes," I replied
"We need to give them to Dr. Sally so she can run some tests on them," Kane said
