Chapter 29
Rosalina's Point of View

"Lina, get down from there," Kelly said as she helped me get off the chair that I was dancing on. We had been to the party for over two hours, and after the four daiquiris I had, I was having fun.

"This is so much fun, Kelly. Thanks for talking me into going to this party. I wouldn't have come if it weren't for you. Let's get another one of those Daiquiris," I said. I started to walk toward the bar to get another drink, but Kelly stopped me.

"No, you don't need anything else to drink. How about you drink some water and sober up a little before we head home? If Kane sees you like this, he will kill me," Kelly said

"Okay," I said, and we headed to the backyard.

"The fresh air will do you some good," Kelly said, and we sat at a table. There were a lot of people swimming in the pool. I noticed there were some couples kissing in the pool. I looked away, not wanting to see that. My mind instantly went to Kane. I wondered what he was doing at that moment. I missed him so much. I sighed and took a sip of the water Kelly had handed to me.

"Yeah, drink all of that water. I will go and get our stuff. You stay here, okay?" Kelly said

"Okay," I replied, and Kelly left. I sat there thinking about Kane. He was so handsome. I just wanted to... Wait, I need to stop thinking these types of things. It wasn't like I would be able to have him. Not only was he my stepbrother, but he was way out of my league. He would never look at me the way I looked at him. Even if by some magical chance he would see me as anything but his stepsister, my mom would kill me if I even thought of going there with him.

I got off the stool and walked over to the pool. People were swimming, and I could tell they were having fun.

"Do you want to swim?" I turned around to see Nichole and some other females standing by her.

"No, I can't swim," I slurred.

"Really, how about I teach you?" Nichole said and then she pushed me into the water.

"Help," I called as I tried to swim but couldn''t keep my head above the water. Suddenly someone's arms were around me. I was so happy when the person got me out of the pool. I looked up to see Jason standing in front of me.

"Are you okay?" Jason asked

"Yes, thank you," I said and he looked at Nichole.

"What the fuck were you thinking, Nichole? Why would you push her into the pool?" Jason asked

"I was just playing with her. I didn't know she couldn't swim," Nichole lied

"Lina, are you okay? What happened?" Kelly asked as she walked over to me

"We were just playing and she fell into the pool," Nichole said

"No, you pushed her into the pool," Jason said. Everyone that was outside was looking at us watching the show.

"I told you I was just playing around. I am sorry Lina. I thought you could swim," Nichole said.

"Lina, what happened to you? Why are you so wet?" I looked up to see Kane walking over to me. He took his jacket off and put it around my shoulders.

"Kane, I didn't think you were coming," Nichole said but Kane didn't pay her any attention.

"We should get you out of here. Let's go home," Kane said

"Okay," I replied. "Thanks for saving me," I said to Jason

"It's not a problem," Jason replied with a smile. Kane put his arms around my shoulder and we walked away. I didn't miss the way Nichole glared at me as I passed her.


Prince Jason's Point of View

"Why would you push her into the water?" I asked Nichole.

"I didn't mean for her to get hurt, Jason. I told you I was just joking around. Why are you so worried about her anyway?" Nichole asked angrily

"The party is over. Everyone needs to leave," I said

"What? Jason," Nichole said, but I just walked away. I knew everyone was disappointed as they left, but I didn't care. I was angry that Rosalina got hurt, and I thought I knew why I cared so much about her, but I would have to talk to my parents about it.

I took the elevator up to their floor. "Mom, Dad," I said as I closed my eyes. They were in the living room making out. I was sure if I hadn't come any sooner, they would have been having... I don't even want to think about that.

"Can you two not do that in here?" I asked

"Um, I don't know if you realize it, but this is our floor." My dad said

"Why aren't you at the party. They better not have destroyed the place," My mom said

"Nothing is destroyed, Mom. I actually ended the party early. I came here because I need to talk to you about something."

"What's wrong?" My dad asked

"There isn't anything wrong, but there was a girl who came here today. Her name is Rosalina."

"Did you find your mate? Oh, I am so excited..."

"No, I didn't find my mate, mom," I said. Just thinking about Rosalina being my mate felt disgusting. Another reason I was sure I was right about why I cared about her so much.

"Oh," My mom said, disappointed

"I want to show you her picture," I said, and I took my phone out and showed them the picture of Rosalina that I took while she wasn't paying attention.

"Oh, Goddess, she has my eyes," My mom said

"She looks a lot like us," My dad said

"That was what I thought. Not only does she look like us, but ever since I saw her tonight, I have had this urge to protect her. I am sure she is Aurora," I said
