Chapter 165

Chapter 165
Madelyn’s POV

I stared at myself in the mirror as I slipped on a red pair of trousers, a white camisole, and threw a matching red jacket over it.

I pulled my hair into a ponytail and put on my stilettos. I did a very light makeup on my face and smiled broadly at the finished work. As soon as I saw my reflection in the mirror, I couldn’t remember the last time I had taken time out like this to actually look this good.

I was a lady on a mission, and I loved the way the red stood out on my skin. We were reopening the high school today, and I was going to commission it, alongside Kieran.

He wasn’t so happy about it, but I could barely give a fuck, I had been the one putting in most of the hardwork, to se to it that the school was ack in use, and suitable for kids to actually learn there, I went as far as bringing in teachers from other packs, so the pack could boast of quality education as well.

In the past few days, I was also able to form a community of farmers, get them seeds and other farming tools they could use.

Yeah, and there was a thorough cleaning of the clinic, we burnt so many bedsheets, and other things that could easily pass the disease to someone else.

I had my hands full, and if it were up to me, I’d rather not have Kieran by my side, because he did close to nothing, but then again, he was still the Alpha, for now, though.

I grabbed my bag, and I chose to go with gold jewelry, as it never went wrong, and always knew how to make a statement.

Outside, I met my guards, all lined up waiting for me. They were all dressed in black suits; apparently, they understood the job description.

We started the walk to the high school. It’s either that I was so tired, or the walk had become extremely long.

A huge crowd had already gathered outside the school building; everyone was eager to have their kids be part of this new development, and the joy and excitement bubbling inside me was too much. I feared I was actually going to explode with it.

“You did it,” Nora purred inside my head, and my lips curved into a wide smile.

“Welcome, people of Raven Claw pack,” Elder Tatia spoke cheerfully as she stepped on the platform.

“Today is a very wonderful occasion for us all, we’re not just here to commission this building, but to celebrate strength, resilient in the face of storms, love, peace and unity, and for this, we have one person to thank, Madelyn Blackwood,” she gestured at me, and all eyes landed on me, “ the brains behind the transformation you see today,”

My eyes landed on Kieran, and he scowled, with frown lines displaying on his face.

The smile on my face widened; just seeing the look on his face was enough to give me the satisfaction I needed.

“Despite everything she went through here, Madelyn didn’t give up on us, she stayed and helped us out with the plague, and didn’t even end there, she still went on to make sure we were actually comfortable, this is why we’ll give her the special honors here, of cutting the ribbon, with the moon goddess as our witness,”

I took slow, graceful steps to the podium, and she handed the scissors over to me. I locked eyes with Kieran to let him know that I was rubbing it in his face; he was one hell of a useless Alpha, and there was nothing he could do about it.

“Go girl,” Nora whooped in my head once again. Her excitement was so contagious that it was beginning to rub off on me; she was enjoying this way more than I was.

“Thank you…”

“Hold on,” Kieran spoke from his spot, and all eyes turned his way, “What exactly is going on here, huh? Is this a ploy to take my pack from right under my nose? I am the Alpha here, and there’s no way I’d be sidelined for this bitch who gave her body out for a crown,”

I stared at him, an amused smile plastered on my face. I exchanged my body for a crown that was new.

It was the first time he used that line.

“Alpha Kieran, I’d advise you to watch your tone,” Elder Tatia,  as usual, came to the rescue. Kieran folded his fists tightly at the side, veins popping out boldly on his forehead.

I remained as calm and collected as ever. I was at the stage where I didn’t need to fight my battles by myself.

“Don’t tell me to watch my tone, council lady Tatia, you instigated everything, how sure am I that you’re not plotting with her?”

“Kieran…”

“Don’t,” he snapped, I am Alpha, and I’ll do the cutting of the ribbon.”

I furrowed my brows at him and handed the scissors calmly over to him.

“Go ahead,” I nudged him, “Take the glory for a work you didn’t do.”I leaned in and whispered into his ear as he stood in front of me.

He froze in his steps. My lips curved into a wry smile,” Go on, your people are waiting, Kieran, but I assure you, this will be your last ribbon cutting, even as Alpha of Raven Claw pack.”

“You were right, I’m taking your throne from you, and when I’m done with you, trust me, you’re going to regret the statement you made today, that’s a promise.” I narrowed my brows, took a step backward, adjusted my clothes, and feigned a smile.

“Since the Alpha has asked to cut the ribbon,” I cleared my throat and spoke loudly for everyone to hear, “Then who am I to say no? Please go ahead, Alpha Kieran,” I gestured at the ribbon

“And may the goddess shine her light on us all, till the end of time,” I added softly.
