Chapter 16 Chapter 6.1
I don't have work today, and Desmond's mom wants me to visit them. I didn't say goodbye to Desmond because he left the house. When I left the house, the one who would pick me up was already outside. I was just quietly looking outside. I was thinking about my family; since Desmond and I got married, I haven't been able to visit them. I wonder how they are?
When I arrived at Desmond's parents' house, I got out. Mommy Shiermy and Lola Mariam immediately greeted me.
"Watch where you're going, you might trip." Lola Mariam said to me. I smiled because of their care for me. They are not like other rich people who would look down on me because of my family background. I just hope they don't change, especially when I give birth to the new generation of their family that they dream of.
"Have you eaten yet?" Mommy Shiermy asked me.
"I already ate," I answered. I sat down on the sofa.
"How's your life with Desmond? Is he not hurting you?" Lola Mariam asked me worriedly. I remembered what Desmond did to me, but he already apologized about it.
"No, grandma, we just don't talk often." I answered. Grandma Mariam just shook her head as if she was disappointed in her grandson.
"Do you want to just live here so we can take care of you?" Grandma Mariam said.
"Mom, that's not allowed. They need to be together with Desmond because they're married. How will they get to know each other if we take Heaven?" Mommy Shiermy answered. Grandma Mariam sighed and then caressed my hands.
"Don't hesitate to tell us if my grandson hurts you, do you understand?" I smiled and nodded.
"Where's Desmond, by the way?" Mommy Shiermy asked.
"I don't know where he went, mom." I answered because when I woke up earlier, he was gone. He also doesn't know that I left because he wasn't there.
"He just leaves you alone in your house? That kid, he doesn't even take care of you, not even cook your food." Mommy Shiermy said, shaking her head. I wasn't expecting him to take care of me, but the simple thing he did to me last night made me feel better. I think he cares about our future child.
Mommy Shiermy and grandma Mariam accompanied me to get a check-up. They want to make sure that our child with Desmond will be healthy.
I was just surprised when the doctor inserted something into my womanhood. I thought I would get an ultrasound on my stomach, but because my stomach is still small, they inserted their ultrasound device into my vagina. I was still shy because grandma Mariam and Mommy Shiermy were with me.
We were all looking at the monitor when we saw the baby. I smiled when I saw it move. My pregnancy was sudden, but I never once thought of aborting my future child. It's nice to look at it. I could also hear its heartbeat very clearly.
I stayed at Desmond's parents' house all day. It was night when I got home because I also ate dinner there. When I got home, I went straight to the kitchen to fill my tumbler with water.
I looked at Desmond, who was drinking again. I was nervous about whether I should talk to him or not. I don't want what happened to us in the past few days to happen again. I went straight to the fridge to get the water. I looked at Desmond again, but it seemed like he had fallen asleep.
The floor is cold, is he going to sleep here? I was about to approach him, but I stopped what I was going to do. What if he does what he did to me again? I shook my head. I don't care if the floor is cold. It's not my fault why he's drinking.
I was about to leave when he suddenly raised his head. I swallowed. I quickly left the kitchen, but before I could go up the stairs, he grabbed my arm.
"Let me go!" I shouted at him. I shouldn't approach him when he's drunk.
"It's you again? Do you know that I just want to erase you from the world?! If I could just kill you, I would have done it! This is your fault. If it wasn't for you, she wouldn't have thought of adding a contract. She would have been here and I would have been with her, but that didn't happen because of you!" He blamed me again. I faced Desmond. I knew it was useless to talk to him because he was drunk, but I didn't want him to blame me alone.
"Don't blame me for the sin you committed against your girlfriend. If you want, file for divorce, and I'll sign it immediately so you can marry her. I have no intention of being with you forever. When the divorce paper is ready, just give it to me, and I will sign it immediately." I answered him.
He grabbed my arm. His eyes were red again because of anger.
"If it wasn't for what you're pregnant with, Macie would have stayed here! She found out about my marriage, she found out about you and your future child! I've been waiting for her for so long. I've been waiting for her to come back to the Philippines, but because of you and your future child, she chose to stay in France!" He shouted angrily. I angrily removed his hand that was holding my arm.
"If you want, follow her. There's a way if you want to be with her, but you chose to wait. You can follow her to France, but why are you here waiting for her? Blame yourself too, not just me." I said emphatically and was about to turn away from him when he stopped me. He looked at my stomach, so I swallowed.
"If it was up to me and not my parents, I would have had the child you're carrying aborted." He said coldly. I pushed him away so he would stay away from me. He has no right to have my child aborted because it's my blood and flesh too.
"You're a nightmare in my life, Heaven." He added and then turned his back on me. I just cried because of his hurtful words. I couldn't do anything but accept his hurtful words. Why is he only blaming me? Why doesn't he blame himself too? Am I the only one who made the child in my womb? If he hadn't taken advantage of me that night, nothing would have been formed between us.
