Chapter 13 Chapter 5.1
"Miss Rosales," Ma'am Ruth called to me seriously. I stood up to face her. "Don't you know who you were talking to earlier? Didn't I tell you not to do anything the CEO wouldn't like? I just told you that, and you've already forgotten?" she said angrily. I bowed my head.
"I'm sorry, Ma'am Ruth." That's all I could do to apologize. It wasn't me who called Sir Zach first. Did they want me to just ignore him?
"Don't let it happen again. I don't know how you met Sir Zachary, but I didn't like the tone you used when talking to him. He's the CEO of the Zapanta Group," she added.
"I know, Ma'am. I won't do it again. I'm sorry if I caused trouble for the CEO's guest," I said humbly. After Ma'am Ruth scolded me, she left. I could hear those next to me whispering.
"She's new, but she already seems to be showing off." I just ignored what the two of them were talking about. Why are the employees in this company so aggressive? Is what my coworkers are saying true? The Velasquez Group have high standards when it comes to choosing employees. Is it true that the employees also think highly of themselves?
I just shook my head; we're all employees here. When I felt sleepy, I went to the pantry to make coffee. While I was making coffee, a man approached me.
"Are you Heaven?" he asked. I nodded to him. "Sir Desmond wants you to make him coffee," he ordered me. I raised an eyebrow.
"Hey, why am I the one making it?! I'm not his secretary!" I shouted at the man when he suddenly left. I kicked in annoyance. Did he want to make my life difficult? Did he want to taste my brew and then? Pretend he didn't like it so I'd make him brew it again?
Too bad for him because I make good coffee. I made coffee again to give to him. I put it on a plate with my coffee. I looked for his office, and when I found it, I knocked. No one answered, so I went in.
Desmond looked at me seriously. I raised an eyebrow at him. Just because you're the heir doesn't mean you can do whatever you want to me. I put the coffee on the table. He just looked at it.
"I just want to remind you, Mr. Velasquez. I'm not your secretary, nor am I your runner or your coffee maker for you to order around. This is the first and last time I'll make you coffee," I said to him seriously. I was about to leave when he spoke.
"If your coffee doesn't taste good, I'll make sure you lose your job," he threatened. I closed my eyes tightly to calm myself. I faced him and then smiled at him. I gestured for him to drink the coffee.
He took the coffee and tasted it. I waited for his reaction. It's delicious, right? He looked at me, so I raised an eyebrow at him. To be honest, he's really scary; my knees are already shaking, but I'm forcing myself to be strong. I don't want him to bully me; I don't want him to look down on me.
"How do you know Zach? Are you two in a relationship?" I raised an eyebrow again at his question. He just saw us talking, and we're already in a relationship?
"He's my former boss, so I know him. He also helped me once. I didn't break any rules, did I?"
"Yes, you did," he replied, which made me frown even more. "You're an employee here, you're my employee, and Zach is my business partner. Know your place, Heaven. Your name is Angel, but your personality is the opposite." My ears perked up at what he said.
"What does my name have to do with the dirt in your mind? I'm not flirting with Sir Zach. He called me, so I talked to him too. Judge me when you see me kiss him in front of you," I said to him with emphasis. He is so arrogant. He even dragged my name into it? What's wrong with what I did? I didn't read anything in their rules that said it's forbidden to talk.
I left after I said that. To be honest, I'm afraid of what he might do, but I don't want to be weak. Does he think Sir Zach and I are flirting? His mind is so dirty.
That day ended. I went downstairs and waited in front of the company for Desmond's mom's driver. It wasn't long before he arrived, so I got in. I was quiet during the ride, and so was the driver. When I got home, I cooked my food right away. Just my food because I don't care if that man eats.
When I finished cooking, I went to my room. I don't know if he's home because we have different rooms. He doesn't want us to be together, and I especially don't want to be with him.
I woke up in the middle of the night because I was thirsty. I felt like my throat was very dry. I sleepily went out of my room. Next time, I'll bring a tumbler with water so I don't have to go downstairs.
"Aaahh!" I shouted in shock when I saw someone in the kitchen. He was sitting on the side and leaning against the wall. When I recognized that it was Desmond, I breathed a sigh of relief. I looked at him to see if he was still alive because he wasn't moving.
I slowly approached him and poked him on the cheek.
"Are you still alive?" I asked him. He raised his head. When he saw me, his face became even more serious. I swallowed and moved away from him. I looked at the many beers scattered beside him. He was very drunk.
"Why are you drinking? You're drunk, go to your room to sleep," I said to him and then I got water from the fridge and drank it. When I finished, I closed the door. I almost shouted in shock again because Desmond was behind me.
I was just going to avoid him when he grabbed my arm tightly.
"It's all your fault. It's your fault why my girlfriend and I are having problems now. It's your fault why I can't propose to her!" he shouted at me. I could smell the strong alcohol on his breath. I was trying to break free from him, but he pushed me against the fridge, so I groaned.
