Chapter 129 Chapter 43.3

Chapter 129 Chapter 43.3
Macie couldn’t answer what Desmond said. I held onto him because I knew he was angry again. The shock was also evident on Macie’s parents’ faces.
“Desmond! You loved our daughter for five years! Don’t call her a mistress if you don’t have any proof!” Macie’s father said angrily. Macie looked at me.
“You told him? You were the one who told him?” Macie turned to me.
“What do you mean, Macie?” Her mother also asked her in disbelief.
“Heaven wasn’t the one who told me. Zachary was the one who told me what was really happening to you in France. He was also the one who told me everything.” Desmond answered. Macie could no longer respond, and she couldn’t bring herself to look at her parents, who were confused by what Desmond had said.
“Macie, answer me. What is he talking about? You were the mistress of a director? Is he saying that the director’s wife had something to do with what happened to you? Tell us!”
“I don’t know, Mom!” Macie also shouted. She was already stressed by everything that was happening to her and by what her parents had found out. So, she had been keeping all of this to herself. Why didn’t she tell her parents? I was sure they would understand her.
“I can’t say whether she had anything to do with this, but it’s also not impossible that she was involved.” After saying that, she lowered her head and simply began to cry.
“I don’t like what you did to my wife, Macie. It’s not right for you to blame her for what happened to you. I was worried about you, not because I still had feelings for you, but I didn’t like the way you disrespected my wife. You can be the one to tell your parents what really happened between the two of us before Heaven came into my life. I don’t want you to think that Heaven was the reason we broke up. I’m glad you’re okay now, Macie, and I hope you find out who did this to you and that they get caught. I’m already happy, Macie, and I hope you find your own happiness too. We’ll leave now. I hope you continue to recover so you’ll have the strength to fight and face the people who hurt you.” Desmond said seriously before pulling me out of the room.
I quietly followed him. Maybe Macie’s mind was still a mess, which was why she said all those things. I hope she doesn’t think about ending her own life. I know it will be difficult for her to move on from what happened to her. If the legal wife of the director with whom Macie had a relationship is indeed involved in this, I hope she gets justice.
Desmond opened the door for me when we walked out of the hospital.
“Are you okay? I’m sorry about that.” I smiled at him. He was always the one apologizing whenever other people disrespected me.
“I’m fine. I understand that Macie’s mind is still a mess. What happened to her wasn’t easy, and it’s not something she can easily forget.” Desmond held one of my cheeks as he looked straight into my eyes.
“Don’t be too kind, okay? I don’t want other people taking advantage of your kindness. If you ever feel like I’m taking advantage of you, tell me so I’ll know, okay?” he said gently. I could only nod at him. He then pulled me into a deep kiss.
I returned his kisses. I wrapped my arms around his neck while his hands held both sides of my face.
After a few minutes, he pulled away from me, but our foreheads were still touching.
“I’ll make it up to you. I’ll make it up to you and our son. I love you so much, Heaven.” I smiled. I couldn’t stop myself and pulled him into another deep kiss, which he gladly returned.
Macie’s family was rich, so surely they could handle whatever problems they had. I wanted to help Macie, but if her parents were angry at me, then maybe it would be better if they were the ones to deal with their problems.
Desmond and I also left the hospital. I thought we were going straight to the company, but he took me to a restaurant instead. It was on the top floor of the building, and we had a clear view of the city below. We were seated beside the glass wall so we could see the city view.
The sun was also about to set, so the sky and the entire city were already covered in shades of red and orange.
“Don’t think about what they said to you earlier, okay? You weren’t the reason Macie and I broke up. Even before you came into my life, I had been proposing to her for a long time, but she always turned me down. She even cheated on me once because we were far away from each other. I forgave her because I loved her. Maybe heaven took pity on me and sent you to me. I don’t regret loving you, Heaven.” He said sincerely as he held my hand.
I could only smile at him. He was the first man I ever loved. If I had crushes before, my feelings for them were never that deep. He was also the first man who ever broke my heart.
“Thank you for loving me even though my family wasn’t rich. Let’s not think about what happened in the past anymore. Let’s just focus on what’s still to come, especially when it comes to our son.” He smiled at me.
“Of course, I love you.”
“I love you too.” I answered before giving him a sweet smile, and he smiled back at me.
A few minutes later, our orders arrived. Darkness was slowly taking over the entire surroundings. I hope that next time, our son can be with us so the two of them can become even closer to each other.
I looked at Desmond’s hand, he was still wearing our wedding ring. I didn’t even know where my wedding ring was anymore. I had returned it to him together with our divorce papers.
“By the way, ever since we separated, you never took off your wedding ring?” I asked him before taking a bite of my food.
“No, this ring was the only thing I held onto because it reminded me that you were still mine.”
“If that’s the case, why didn’t Scarlett notice it? Didn’t she ever ask you why you were wearing a wedding ring?” I asked curiously as I looked at him.
“I don’t know. Maybe she thought it was just an ordinary ring. I always wear it so whenever I have meetings with women, they’ll know that I’m already married. I’m only waiting for you, and you’re the only woman I’ll ever love.” His words made me feel giddy. I suddenly felt like I was still a teenager.
I could feel my cheeks getting warm. I hope we can always be like this, we may not always be happy, but at least our relationship is okay.
