Chapter 125 Chapter 42.2
Chapter 125 Chapter 42.2
I waited for him the entire night, but he never came home. I couldn't sleep well either because he was all I could think about. What happened to Macie? Where are they now, and what are they doing?
Why didn't Desmond come home? I wish he had at least called me so I would know what was happening to him.
I looked toward the door when someone knocked.
"Heaven, are you awake? Dad already finished cooking, he wants all of us to have breakfast together before your in-laws go home." Anica said from outside the door. I could only let out a sigh.
I looked at my son who was quietly playing on the bed. He had been awake for quite a while too, but neither of us had gone out of the room.
"Okay, we'll be out in a minute." I answered. They had no idea that Desmond left, and they didn't know that he never came back either. I didn't know if I should regret telling him to go see Macie. I was worried about Macie too, and I felt guilty seeing how worried Desmond was because he couldn't go to her.
I carried Daryl before leaving the room. We headed straight to the kitchen because everyone was already there.
I seated Daryl on his little chair before taking the seat beside him.
"Where's Desmond, dear? Isn't he awake yet?" Mommy Shiermy asked while I was getting food for myself.
"He didn't come back, mom." I answered shortly. I didn't know if I should tell them the truth. I could feel everyone staring at me, but I couldn't bring myself to look at them. I couldn't meet their eyes because I felt like the stupidest woman for allowing my husband to go see his ex-girlfriend.
"Did he leave last night? Where did he go?" Daddy Romulo asked seriously. I couldn't answer him right away. I was about to take a bite when Mom held my hand, making me look at her.
"Where did Desmond go? Why didn't he sleep here last night? Aren't you going to tell us the truth? Do you want us to find out ourselves why he isn't here?" Mommy asked, her voice just as serious. I looked at both our families, they were all waiting for my answer.
I put down the spoon I was holding before letting out a sigh.
"Macie called him last night. Desmond said she was crying and sounded terrified—"
"And he went to see his ex-girlfriend? Why did you let him?" Chairman cut me off before I could finish. I saw Daddy Romulo's grip on his spoon tighten.
"Why didn't you tell us, dear, that he went to see Macie? After getting what he wanted from you, this is how he's treating you? We will never tolerate this kind of behavior, Heaven." Mommy Shiermy said angrily.
"I was the one who told him to go see Macie." I answered because I didn't want all of them to be angry at Desmond when I was the one who pushed him to go. I just didn't know he wouldn't come home after seeing his ex.
"Why?" Grandma Mariam asked. I could only lower my head because of the way they were looking at me, as if I were the most foolish woman for letting my husband leave to see his ex-girlfriend.
"I noticed that Desmond couldn't even focus on our family dinner last night anymore. I knew something was bothering him deeply, and I thought he was worried about Macie. I told him to go see her. I just couldn't bear watching him worry while he kept hesitating to leave."
"But that still doesn't make it right, dear." Daddy Romulo's voice grew louder. "Macie is nothing more than his ex-girlfriend now, and even if something had happened to her or she needed someone with her, she knows plenty of people. Why did she have to call Desmond? And if Desmond had been thinking clearly, he wouldn't have left you just to go see his ex." Daddy Romulo added before standing up, it seemed everyone had already lost their appetite for breakfast.
"Hon, please calm down. Where are you going? Let's eat first." Mommy Shiermy hurried after Daddy Romulo.
"I'm going to find your son, Shiermy! What he's doing to his wife is wrong! Even if Heaven told him to go see Macie, he still shouldn't have left!" Daddy Romulo shouted angrily, making me stand up as well to stop both him and Mommy Shiermy.
"Let's just wait for him, dad. I'm sure he'll come home later. We can ask him what happened once he gets back. I don't even know where Macie is staying now after Desmond kicked her out of the condo." I said, trying to calm him down because I was afraid they would beat Desmond up before he even had the chance to explain why he hadn't come home.
"Heaven, my child, stop taking the blame for your husband's mistakes. Romulo is right, Desmond still shouldn't have left even if you were the one who told him to go see his ex-girlfriend. Just because he got you back doesn't mean he has the right to treat you like this. I think it's better if the two of you stop trying to fix your marriage if he's only going to hurt you again. If he's still worried about his ex-girlfriend, then maybe he should have fixed his relationship with her instead of fixing yours, if in the end he's going to choose his ex over you, his own wife." Dad said angrily too.
"Desmond is my son, but I agree with your dad, Heaven. It's better for the two of you to separate than for him to hurt you all over again." Daddy Romulo agreed.
"There's no reason for us to separate." We all turned toward the door the moment we heard Desmond's voice. The exhaustion and sleeplessness were obvious in his eyes. It looked like he hadn't slept the entire night either.
"Dad!" I shouted the moment Daddy Romulo threw a punch at Desmond. Desmond didn't fight back.
"If you don't want to lose your wife, then get your life together! Start making the right decisions, Desmond! If Macie is still the one you love and you're still worried about her, then you should've gone back to her instead of coming back to Heaven!" Daddy Romulo roared in fury.
