Chapter 10 Chapter 4.1
Three days have passed since Desmond and I had our blood drawn. I'm getting nervous. I'm pinching my fingers because I'm trembling with nervousness. No other man has been with me except Desmond, so I'm sure he's the father of my child.
"Good morning," the doctor greeted us when he arrived. I looked at Desmond, when he felt me looking at him, he looked at me and then a smirk appeared on his lips. I knew it, it's impossible for him not to do anything to change the DNA result.
"I have the DNA result." The doctor handed the envelope to Shiermy. Desmond was sitting calmly. He didn't even peek at the DNA result. His legs were crossed as if he was very happy. How can I prove to them that I'm carrying Desmond's child?
I was nervously looking at Shiermy. When she looked at me, my heart beat fast. I just want to run out the door, but I can't feel my feet.
"Why don't you say the result yet? Am I right from the start?" Desmond asked arrogantly. Shiermy stood up, I just closed my eyes because there's nothing I can do but accept her slap. I opened my eyes when I heard the sound of a slap. My eyes widened because Desmond received the slap from his mother.
"Mom!" Desmond shouted angrily. Desmond received another slap from his mother, so he quickly grabbed the paper. From the expression on his face, it seemed that it wasn't the result he was expecting.
"Do you think I wouldn't know that you wanted to change the result?! Do you still think of yourself as human, Desmond! You're planning to turn your back on your own flesh and blood!" Shiermy shouted angrily and then she repeatedly hit her son's chest. I could see Desmond gritting his teeth because of annoyance.
Does that mean Desmond didn't succeed in his plan? I breathed a sigh of relief because it seemed that Desmond didn't succeed.
"Okay! Fine! Damn it!" he shouted angrily and then he left the house. Shiermy was just massaging her temple. I was just silent and then I touched my stomach. My baby is only one month old, so I don't have a baby bump yet.
I looked at Grandma Mariam when she stroked my hair.
"Don't worry, hija. Desmond has no choice but to take responsibility for you and your future child. The preparations for your wedding are almost finished. It will be held this week." I didn't answer. I have nothing to say, I want to refuse. I just want to go home, but I don't have the courage to fight a powerful family.
When night came, I got up because I felt thirsty. I was drinking water when Desmond suddenly spoke at the door.
"Do you really want to ruin my life?" he asked me seriously. I let go of the glass and then looked at him. He was leaning against the door and looking straight at me.
"I already told you. If you want to stop this wedding, talk to your family. Like you, I'm also a victim of this flash marriage. I didn't intend to look for you, but like your mom, my mom is only thinking about my welfare. If you can convince your family not to marry us, I will leave and never show myself to you again," I answered him. He didn't speak, he was just looking straight at me, so I left. He didn't stop me. I quickly entered my room.
The next day, I was staring blankly at the gowns lined up. The wedding is the next day, but until now Desmond hasn't done anything to stop the wedding. They have also started sending out invitations. I was wondering if they even sent one to my family.
They have started taking my measurements and made me wear the gown so I can choose. They are all beautiful and from famous designers, but how can I choose if they are all beautiful?
"Choose what you think is the most beautiful for you, Heaven. You only get married once and even if you and Desmond don't love each other, you will have a beautiful wedding gown." Shiermy said to me with a smile. I smiled sparingly. Anyway, she's right. I'm only getting married once, so I'll make up for it with a beautiful wedding gown and a grand wedding.
When I had worn all the wedding gowns, I also told them which one I liked the most. I also tried on my wedding heels. When we were done, I rested.
The days passed quickly. I let out a deep sigh when they finished putting make-up on me. I have also changed my clothes, ready to walk down the aisle.
"Is my baby really getting married?" I looked behind me. Tears quickly fell when I saw Dad. When did he get home? I quickly approached him to hug him. I want to sob, but my make-up will be ruined.
"Sssshh, don't cry anymore. Do you want to be ugly on your wedding day?" he teased me, but I was still hugging him. I haven't seen Dad for two years because he's in another country and working there so we can have a good future.
Daddy held me by both arms and then pulled me away from him. He looked at me with a smile.
"Aren't you angry at me? I disappointed you," I said to him like a child. Dad smiled at me.
"When you're already hurting, when you can't take it anymore, come back to us. The door is always open for you." I was even more tearful at what Dad was saying, but I need to stop my tears from falling. Dad stroked my head while he was still smiling.
"I'm not mad, I'm not disappointed either. You have already done your responsibility to our family. I am so proud of you, Heaven. We can't stop you from having your own family just so you can help us. Don't worry, I'll take care of your siblings."
