Chapter 31 Meeting Zoey Again
Matilda said angrily, "Mr. Weaver, you just want to fuck a woman, right? Fucking her is just the same!"
With that, she slammed the door shut.
Irene outside stood there stunned.
Matilda asked coldly, "Do you want to go in and join them? Mr. Weaver happens to be a pervert—the three of you might have even more fun!"
"No, no way." Irene turned and ran.
......
Inside the private room, Adalyn was still on top of Ray.
She steeled herself and said through gritted teeth, "Mr. Weaver, Dr. Spencer really might not want to be with you. You can't force this kind of thing—forcing it is a crime. How about... I'll be with you once, and you sign the contract."
She didn't mind that Ray looked greasy. After all, this wasn't her first time having sex. She'd dated eight boyfriends. In her view, men were all the same once the lights were off and clothes came off.
However, Ray pushed her away.
Her figure and looks were pretty good, but she had that "internet influencer face." Ray had fucked too many women of that type—now he only wanted someone with Matilda's pure and natural look.
And more importantly, there was Adalyn's identity.
"Aren't you the daughter of Harmony Health Center's director?"
"Yes, I am," Adalyn answered.
Ray sneered, "Although your hospital needs me for equipment procurement, in terms of social status, I'm nowhere near your father. Me fucking his daughter? Do I have a death wish?"
"You're worried about my status? What about the other girl at dinner? Irene—she should be okay, right? She's from an ordinary family."
"Come on, she's too ordinary—small chest, flat ass. I'm not that desperate. Anyway, that equipment has nothing to do with your hospital anymore."
Adalyn was instantly deflated.
......
After leaving the restaurant, Matilda didn't go straight home.
She'd already told Wentworth she wouldn't be home for dinner tonight. Going back this early would definitely make him suspicious. So she wandered around a nearby mall by herself.
She was in a terrible mood.
Being set up by Adalyn today—she was still furious about it.
She took out her phone, wanting to tell the director about this, but then thought better of it—what good would it do? The director doted on Adalyn like crazy, and so did the deputy director and department heads. Speaking up might actually hurt her own work situation.
Tell Wentworth? That wouldn't work either. Wentworth didn't have much power—he relied on his brother for a lot of things. If he found out, at most he'd go beat up Ray. What if he went too far and killed someone?
Anyway, she hadn't actually been harmed. Forget it.
After wandering for a bit, she suddenly heard someone calling her.
"Matilda? Is that you?"
Matilda turned around and took a while to recognize Zoey from the escape room the other day.
That day, Zoey had been deathly pale, crying constantly with her makeup running. If not for her youth, she would have looked frightening.
But today Zoey was in great shape—not being in an escape room, she looked young and vibrant.
"Matilda, why are you alone? Where's the guy who was with you that day?" Zoey asked enthusiastically.
"He's at home. I came out by myself. Why are you alone too?" Matilda asked.
"Yeah, I like shopping alone, buying pretty clothes." Zoey had a round face and a sweet smile.
Only then did Matilda notice she had a nice vibe about her.
"Matilda, have you eaten? Want me to treat you to something?"
"I'm not hungry," Matilda said.
"Then let me buy you a fruit tea? We agreed that day—you have to say yes. Let's be friends."
There was a shop selling fruit tea and desserts nearby. Matilda wanted to kill time anyway, so she agreed.
The two went to a nearby shop that sold both fruit tea and desserts. Zoey ordered fruit tea, plus small cakes and fries, excitedly bringing them over.
"Matilda, you were so brave that day. I've never seen a woman as calm as you," Zoey said.
Matilda smiled, "Thanks for the compliment."
"Matilda, have you graduated? Are you working already?"
"Yeah, I'm a doctor at Harmony Health Center. What about you? Still in college?"
"Not graduated yet. I'm a junior, about to start my internship soon."
Zoey kept talking, "I've been timid since I was little. I've never dared to sleep alone. I'm so scared of ghosts—not like you being so brave. How do you do it?"
Matilda just smiled, "Born that way."
"Ah, some people really are naturally brave. I saw the guy with you that day wasn't scared either—you two are perfect together."
"What about your boyfriend that day?"
"Don't mention that scumbag. I broke up with him right after we got back. You know what? After we broke up, he spread rumors to his classmates that he'd fucked me. I was so pissed."
Matilda couldn't help but smile.
Just as her mood was improving a bit, she saw two people walk by outside—one was Ray, one was Adalyn.
The two were pulling at each other, heading somewhere.
Seeing Matilda watching them, Zoey followed her gaze.
As soon as she saw Ray, she called out, "Mr. Weaver!"
Ray turned around. Seeing Zoey and Matilda sitting together, his face instantly panicked.
Matilda asked Zoey, "You know that guy named Weaver?"
"He works for my dad. Matilda, you know him too?"
Matilda sneered, "Of course. Half an hour ago he was trying to fuck me."
"What? That happened?" Zoey was shocked.
Just then, Ray walked up to them, smiling apologetically at Zoey: "Ms. Turner, what are you doing here? You know Dr. Spencer?"
Zoey stood up and asked sternly, "Mr. Weaver, Matilda says you tried to take advantage of her. Is that true?"
"No, no, it's all a misunderstanding," Ray didn't dare admit it.
"Matilda wouldn't lie. I believe her!" Zoey said firmly.
Matilda was also somewhat shocked—she didn't expect Zoey to trust her so much.
Seeing Ray acting like he'd met his ancestor, Adalyn asked Zoey, "Little girl, what's your relationship with Mr. Weaver?"
"None of your business," Zoey didn't like her.
"You're not his daughter, are you?" Adalyn probed.
Zoey said directly, "Nonsense, he's just my dad's subordinate."
Adalyn caught the key point: "So you're the daughter of Kensington BioTech Company's CEO?"
"Yeah, so what?"
Adalyn got excited immediately: "Little girl, I'm the daughter of Harmony Health Center's director. We work with your company all the time. We want to buy phototherapy equipment from your dad's company now. Since you and Dr. Spencer are friends, could you go back and ask your dad to sell the equipment to our hospital?"
Ray immediately said angrily, "Why are you telling a little girl this? She hasn't even graduated college—she can't make those decisions."
But Zoey asked Matilda, "Matilda, does your hospital really need this equipment?"
