Piper’s POV
After their car disappeared, I hurried inside to rest. My stomach felt a little sore since waking up.
I sat on the back porch while observing the flowers that had just bloomed. The servants had watered all the plants on the back terrace since the sun had just risen.
The morning air was refreshing, and it was even more beautiful to enjoy the beauty of the morning with a cup of tea and a few pieces of cake.
My life was beautiful, and I wanted nothing more. My family was my gem. That was my motto. I was strong because of them and my greatest happiness was seeing them happy.
I sat back against the back of the sofa, letting the morning sunlight shine on my body. I thought I’d rest for a while before going out with Lisa to shop for baby items.
Megan’s POV
That was the day your suffering will begin, Piper and Jay. You will cry and suffer without knowing what to do. My dreams were shattered because of you, Piper. You took everything away from me even though I realized Helen’s blood doesn’t run in me, but I’ve been part of your family since I was a baby.
Everything that happened wasn’t my will. But you just threw me away and took everything I wanted. And what’s even more annoying was that I still couldn’t make you suffer enough. But this time I will make sure that you will suffer along with Jay.
I will snatch the most precious thing from you until your cries turn into blood.
I’ve been up since seven in the morning and always had my cell phone in my hand. I was waiting for Zac to update me. Honestly, I was quite nervous, and I had to admit my heart was beating faster every time I was about to do something quite dangerous. But there was no turning back. Everything that had to be done was ready. I had to take whatever risks I could so that Smith’s family members would feel my pain.
Suddenly, my cell phone rang. It was Zac calling me.
“Yes,” I answered curiously.
“I divided my men into three groups. One to monitor Piper, one to monitor Jay, and the other to monitor the twins’ school. I’ve also prepared a fleet to carry out this plan further. This afternoon, as soon as the twins get out of the classroom, one woman who worked at my bar would approach them and take them outside the school so that we would have an easier time moving around. Everything is taken care of, so there’s nothing for you to worry about. Talk to you later and bye,” Zac said.
“Ok, thank you. Keep me posted,” I replied happily with a big smile.
“I will.”
Usually, the twins get home from school at noon. There was still time for me to relax in the spa downstairs while I waited for more news from Zac. I’d better hurry and get ready.
Jansen’s POV
Five minutes to noon, the bell was about to ring. Finally, the boring lesson was ending.
I stretched my arm muscles upward and moved my body left and right. It felt so sore because last night I fell asleep at the table while reading a book. However, I woke up on the bed in the morning. It must have been dad who had moved me to the bed.
Finally, the bell I was waiting for rang. I rushed to put my pencils and all my stationery into the pencil case, tidied up, and put the books I was going to take home into my bag, while the ones I would not use I put in my locker.
I had to hurry and pick Jessie up or she’d get confused if she hadn’t seen me. I never expected to have a spoiled little sister like her. But, I love her very much.
Ken would usually be at school in half an hour. I had to hurry. After making sure nothing was left behind, I ran out of the classroom and up to the second floor of Jessie’s class.
From a distance, I saw her sitting in front of the classroom, staring at the stairs. She was waiting for me.
“Jessie,” I called out while waving my hand.
After she saw me, she stood up and ran over to me.
“You took so long,” she said.
“I put my stuff in my locker first. Let’s go home. I’m so hungry,” I asked as I helped her carry her lunch bag.
After walking down the stairs and out of the school building, a woman suddenly came up to us. She was tall, her hair was long and flowed straight down to her waist, her skin was pure white, and her face was cute.
“Hi, you must be Jessie and Jansen, right?” she asked with a smile. Her teeth were pure white and her tiny lips were covered in pink lipstick.
“Who are you?” I asked as I asked Jessie to stand behind me. I scanned her face carefully while remembering if I had ever met her somewhere. But I was sure I had never seen her face.
The soft voice of a fairy tale reader said, “I’m your grandmother’s new assistant, Vanessa Smith. She is waiting for you outside the school and intends to take you for ice cream near to here.”
“Sweet Pleasure. Do you know it?” she asked.
“Ah, we know that place. It’s the best ice cream place in Valdirra. But why didn’t Grandma come down? How do we know your Grandma’s assistant?” I asked. To some people, my words might sound stern and suspicious.
However, Mom had taught me to be careful from a young age.
She smiled and replied, “I’ll connect you with one of the staff at your grandma’s house in a moment. Her name is Ami. You must know her, right?”
“Ah, we know her. Please contact her and convince us you are indeed her employee,” I pleaded.
There was no look of fear or panic on her face. Maybe it was me who was thinking too much. But there was nothing wrong with being cautious for my and Jessie’s safety.
The woman dialed a certain cell phone number and waited a while for a woman’s voice to come on the line.
After talking to her partner, the woman, who introduced herself as Kelly, pressed the loudspeaker button on her phone and asked Ami to convince both of us.
The voice I heard was indeed Ami’s. Maybe I was too prejudiced against her. There was no harm in going along with her to find out.
“Do you believe me now? Can we go now?” she asked.
“Ok,” I replied.
I took Jessie’s hand while walking behind Kelly until we were in the neighborhood outside the school.
Kelly said that Grandma had parked her car in front of the convenience store next to the school. There was no suspicious movement from Kelly. It seemed like she wasn’t an evil woman.
“Jansen, are you sure she’s good? Normally you would be suspicious,” Jessie asked.
“I’m sure. Take it easy,” I replied.
Arriving at the convenience store, Kelly showed me a black sedan that looked exactly like Vanessa’s. I was right. It turned out that my guess was right.
Kelly told us to hurry and get into the car. While holding Jessie’s hand, we got into the car and when we closed the door, the car door suddenly locked and the woman wearing Vanessa’s clothes turned around and we finally knew that we were trapped.
