Megan’s POV
“It doesn’t matter to me if you aren’t signing the divorce papers. You still have to leave my mother’s house and I have no more obligations towards you. Although legally we are still husband and wife, in reality, we are two strangers living separately. Besides, wouldn’t it be better for you to divorce me and unite with your lover? You should feel sorry for him, who is not married and remains faithful to you,” John said with a sly smile.
I had never seen such a frightening look on John’s face. Jealousy and anger filled him. Then, what was the meaning of their thirty-year marriage? Did it all mean nothing anymore? From this case, it seemed like I should have told Ethan the truth before we got engaged so that something like this wouldn’t happen to me in the future.
There was nothing I could hope for anymore. Mom and I had to leave their lives.
Hearing Mom continue to defend herself and laugh like a woman with depression, I couldn’t take it anymore. I stood up and walked toward her. I looked into her eyes and pulled her hand closer to me.
“Mom, there’s no point anymore. All the evidence is clear. Let’s get out of here,” I pleaded. Luckily, Mom obeyed. She nodded twice.
“Put on your jacket and organize your things, then let’s go,” I said.
“I’ll help your mom,” Freddy interrupted. He got up and tidied up Mom’s desk. It looked like Freddy loves Mom too. It wasn’t Mom, Freddy, or John who was at fault in this incident. They were just victims.
Mom walked after Freddy, then put on her jacket with a sad face. I understood Mom’s feelings. All this happened too suddenly. In just an instant, Mom lost power, wealth, and high social status among the socialites. The impact of this is that those high-class socialites will ostracize her.
I wanted to help Mom, but I was in a difficult position. It looked like the way to climb back to the top of the pyramid was through Jay. The number one richest man in Valdirra. His wealth and power were so great, much greater than even Zac and Ethan.
When I thought of Piper and Jay, I wanted to kill Piper and threw her corpse somewhere until her body disappears to be eaten by vultures. But, unfortunately, I couldn’t do that. I had to play it subtly so that no one would suspect me.
To shorten the time, I helped Freddy pack up all of Mom’s things. Meanwhile, Mom sat in her chair with a blank stare. I guess her mind was in turmoil and nowhere to go. Her face looked gloomy.
Hang in there, Mom! I won’t let anyone step on us and insult us just because we are now poor and have nothing left. I still have other sources of wealth as I caress my slightly enlarged belly.
“My baby, you are indeed your mother’s savior. Let’s see what you can do for your mother,” I muttered to myself as I smiled.
“I guess you can tidy up her things tomorrow. You don’t have to vacate this room in the mini-mala,” Helen said.
Suddenly, Mom looked up and stared at Grandma. With a scary look on her face, Mom replied, “Tonight or tomorrow, the result will be the same. So, let’s take all our belongings with us tonight.”
“Ok, whatever you want,” Grandma said. She got up, straightened her clothes, and led her two assistants away.
John also stood up and walked behind Helen without another word. Now, there were only three of us in the room.
Mom suddenly burst into hysterical tears. She pulled at the hair on her head while crying over the bad luck that had suddenly come her way. She screamed and cursed John and Helen.
I was angry and sad, but there was nothing I could do. Could this be what it felt like to be kicked out of grandma’s house? Now my fate was the same as Piper’s.
“Mom, it’s okay. Everyone can hear your voice. You’re embarrassing yourself,” I said, trying to calm her down.
“You don’t know how I feel. It hurts, it hurts,” she replied, wiping away her tears.
“Erin, let’s get out of here. There’s nothing more we can fight for here. You guys don’t worry, at least I have prepared everything for you all this time, even though I’m not as rich as John and Mrs. Smith. All your stuff is already in this box. Let’s go,” Freddy invited.
Although reluctant, Mom stood up and took my hand out of the room that she had occupied for twenty-five years. I knew it must be hard to let go of all this.
Piper’s POV
Ah, the day I’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. A vacation to Greenmore Resort. The plan was that this morning we would all go by bus.
Mom, Vanessa, Lisa, Max, Austin, Jordan, Ken, Nick, Lily, Jay, Jansen, Jessie, and me. We were all going on a week-long vacation at a resort.
Ah, I was so happy and couldn’t wait to get there.
Early in the morning, we were ready and waiting for the bus to arrive. All the participants had arrived, and they were all enjoying snacks and tea on the front porch.
I couldn’t stop smiling. Lisa and Jordan couldn’t stop kissing. Yes, they had announced their relationship. Then, Ken and Lily were constantly looking at each other and smiling. They were both in love.
Meanwhile, Jay was busy lecturing me who had been busy taking care of many things since morning. He asked me to sit down and rest. Since I felt a little sore in my stomach, I sat down and relax for a while, enjoying a piece of cake made by Lily and a glass of tea. Jessie sat with me while Jansen went with Jay and I didn’t know where the two of them were.
Not long after, the bus ordered by Jay arrived and stopped right in front of us. One by one, the participants got on the bus followed by Jay and Jansen, who ran from the house.
Long story short, we were all on the bus. The first time I entered, my lips couldn’t stop praising it. The interior of the bus was luxurious and extraordinary. We felt like we were in a First Class airplane. High-quality sofas, marble tables, a large television, and a room at the end of the bus. The bathroom was like a suite in a five-star hotel, and there were sumptuous snacks on the table.
It’s amazing. This bus must have cost a fortune to rent.
“Are you mesmerized?” Jay asked as he hugged me from behind.
“Yes. This bus is very nice and luxurious. Thank you. The rental fee must be very expensive,” I asked.
“I didn’t rent this bus, but I bought this bus a week ago,” Jay replied with a smile.
“Wh-what?”
