Piper’s POV
After laughing, Megan screamed so loud it made our ears ring. Then, in a flash that I couldn’t avoid, she pushed my body toward a shelf near the sofa. I crashed into the shelf, then into the wall, and fell to the floor along with the shelf.
I winced in pain and my legs ached as I tried to get up and stand. It wasn’t until I realized that my left arm had landed on a piece of the fallen statue. No wonder I felt my arm was sore.
Faintly, I heard Jay shouting, and he came over to me and tried to lift my body. I saw Ken and Nick holding Megan’s hand from hurting me again. She was still screaming, even louder this time, as she cursed all of us.
“I swear you will suffer and pay for what you have done to me. I will remember these insults and all of you will repay my heartache a hundredfold,” Megan yelled as she tried to break free from Ken and Nick’s grip.
“Let go of my hand, you fool,” she yelled with a glare.
However, Ken and Nick did not release their grip on Megan’s hand until Jay asked them to let Megan go.
“Let go, let her go. Get her out of here as soon as possible. Then, get the car ready. I’m taking Piper to the hospital,” Jay said.
“Get out of here right now. I don’t want to see you again,” Jay said as he turned his back on Megan. I was still in Jay’s arms as I closed my eyes and endured the pain all over my body.
“Ok, fine. I’m leaving here because you all don’t want me here anymore. Remember one thing: you will repay for what you did today a hundredfold,” she threatened. None of us replied. Then, she stormed off after kicking a large flower vase so hard that the sound of its shards echoed throughout the house.
“We’ll send you all your stuff,” Ken told Megan. However, she didn’t answer and continued walking away. Soon, we heard a car engine starting and tires squealing until all the noise was gone and there was only silence.
“I’ll call the hospital now, sir,” Nick said.
Meanwhile, Ken rushed out of the mansion and prepared the car.
“Ask Lily to get Piper’s things ready and get Piper’s things from her apartment and let her mom know if she’s hurt and I’ll take her to the hospital. Do you get it?” Jay asked.
“Yes, sir,” Nick replied.
The next thing I remembered, Jay walked quickly to the exit and us getting into the car. Along the way, he hugged me tightly as if he was afraid I would disappear until I had to ask him several times to relax his hug because my hand was hurt. But I felt warmth flowing from his body to mine. I felt like I was being treated special and I didn’t want this to go away.
“Jay, now things are getting complicated and I’m scared,” I said.
“Don’t think about it. Right now, the most important thing is that you get back to health and your wounds heal. After that, we can start thinking and organizing the future of the four of us, okay?” he replied as he kissed the tip of my head several times.
Although Jay had asked me to calm down, in fact, I couldn’t calm down. Fear and worry mixed. Megan could do anything to get revenge, and that’s what I was afraid of. But we couldn’t convince her to understand. Instead, she felt innocent and stuck to her opinions.
In the end, we still couldn’t do anything. Perhaps this was the fate we had to face. Sisterly relations ended up going bad because of jealousy. Sadly.
“Sir, we’ve reached the hospital. I’ll stop right in front of the ER entrance. Nick said that he has contacted the doctor, who will be in charge of Ms. Piper,” Ken said as he stopped the car in front of the ER entrance.
“Ok, Ken. Thank you,” Jay replied.
One doctor and three female nurses stood near the entrance. One of them was carrying a wheelchair. Then Ken opened the car door for us. After that, he went to the parking lot.
Jay helped me sit in the wheelchair and then the nurses and doctors took me to the examination room. Moments later, I was lying on the hospital bed and was being escorted to the CT scan room. Jay walked beside me and we held hands.
That day was the second time I was lying on a hospital bed. The first time was, of course, when I gave birth. To be honest, I didn’t like the smell of the hospital, the smell of medicine, and other things that are hard to explain.
On the way to the CT scan room, I kept praying and hoping that I would be okay and that there would be no broken bones, so that I wouldn’t have to be hospitalized for a long time.
Between nervousness and fear, I exhaled repeatedly. Jay seemed to realize that. He touched my hand and said, “Don’t be afraid. Everything will be fine.”
I nodded once while looking into his blue eyes. The blue eyes of the man I love.
The examination process was finally over. Inside the room, the doctor explained my condition to both of us. Luckily, there were no serious or internal injuries, just a sprained muscle and some external wounds that weren’t too deep but still needed time to heal.
Knowing I was hospitalized, Mom, Lisa, and Max rushed to the hospital, and as I expected, the three of them were surprised to see Jay beside me. After explaining everything to them, the three of them looked thrilled, especially Mom. Finally, what she had hoped for had come true.
From me working as Jessie’s tutor to being hospitalized, everything has not passed one year, which means I lost the bet and as a punishment, I had to take Lisa and Max on a vacation to the resort.
Hearing this, Jay laughed loudly and looked thrilled. On a starry night, we sat on the hospital bed kissing as if the night belonged to just the two of us and I didn’t want it to pass quickly.
Megan’s POV
Damn it! They will pay for everything they have done to me. I’ll make them suffer for the rest of their life.
I got out of the car pissed off and wanted to eat people as appetizers.
I opened the mansion’s door loudly and closed it loudly, startling Mom and the many servants.
Mom immediately put the magazine she was reading on the table and stood up while looking at me with a surprised look. “What’s wrong with you? Can’t you close the door slowly?”
I didn’t want to answer her question. I walked up the stairs quickly. I heard Mom sigh and followed me up to the second floor.
I opened the door to the room and just as I was about to close it firmly, mom held the door shut while yelling, “What’s wrong with you? Why are you acting like this?”
