Jay’s POV
“Jessie, it’s not what you think. Listen to me. I dropped off clothes and a sweater for Piper because I thought she must not have brought clothes and a sweater in this cold weather. However, when I knocked on her door several times, there was no answer from inside. Finally, I tried to open the door to her room and found that she hadn’t locked it. After putting the clothes and sweater on the bed, I heard the water faucet running continuously, but Piper didn’t answer at all, even though the bathroom door was slightly open. I decided to approach the bathroom door and found water pouring out of the bathroom. I panicked and spontaneously opened the bathroom door and I saw Piper lying in the bathtub with her eyes closed and her mouth almost drowned. I quickly lifted her out of the bathtub and laid her on the bed. What followed was a misunderstanding. I respect her. So, does my daughter still misunderstand?” I asked as I stroked the back of her hand.
Jessie shook her head and smiled. “Did Piper pass out in the bathtub?”
“It looks like it. But she said nothing to me. Maybe she has her reasons,” I replied.
“Dad, I don’t want Piper to get sick. Can you take her to the hospital for a check-up so the doctor can treat her?” she asked.
Letting out a long breath, I replied, “Okay, I’ll talk to her tomorrow when things are calm enough. It’s getting late, so you should go to bed.”
“You too,” she replied.
“Ok, let me kiss you.” I brought my face close to her forehead and gave her a goodnight kiss on her adorable forehead and cheeks. Jessie is my angel and half of my soul. Speaking of Jessie, I couldn’t wait to see Jensen.
Sometimes I wondered what our meeting would be like and what I should say. Would he be willing to forgive and accept my presence in his life? Thinking about it made me worry even more.
After kissing Jessie, I turned off the lights in her room and prepared to close the door. However, Jessie suddenly said, “Dad, Piper will ask for leave tomorrow morning because she has to attend a competition at her son’s school.”
I turned the light back on. “Really? She didn’t tell me anything.”
“Maybe she’ll talk to you in the morning. Can I come with Piper?” she asked, hugging her favorite teddy bear.
“You’d better not. I’m worried you’ll give Piper a hard time.”
“But I want to see the competition. Just this one time. I promise I won’t bother Piper. Is that okay?” she asked. It seemed like it would be difficult to forbid Jessie. Maybe going with Piper once in a while would be good for her.
Wait, there was something I missed. If Jessie went with Piper to her son’s school, that means Jessie would see Jensen’s face and realize their resemblance. I wanted to wait until Nick finishes solving all the mysteries, but if Jessie knew about this first, it’s not bad, so it would be easier for me to explain everything.
Hopefully, Jessie, Jensen, and Piper could accept the reality that will unfold later. I just hoped for the best for us, even though I was at a loss for what to do with Megan. Maybe I should consult with Jordan and Austin. After all, it’s been a while since I’ve seen them.
“Dad, why are you silent? Please, just this once. I promise I’ll be a good girl and not trouble anyone,” Jessie pleaded with a pained look on her face.
“Okay. Ken will take you. Have you told Piper if you want to come?” I asked.
“Not yet. I’ll tell her tomorrow,” she replied.
“Okay. Good night, sweety. Love you,” I said as I turned off the bedroom light.
To make a long story short, I sat on the edge of the bed, imagining what had happened in Piper’s bedroom. I felt guilty for her. Maybe after this, the relationship between us would become more awkward. I’ll try to get close to her and build a good relationship with her for Jessie’s and Jensen’s sake. If we end up liking each other, then it will be better for the sake of our children.
Piper’s POV
After Jay walked out of the room, I felt bad for him. I had gone too far with him. If he hadn’t helped me earlier, I might have drunk a lot of soapy water.
Ah, why did I keep blaming him earlier? Maybe after this, the relationship between us will become a little awkward. I had to pretend that the incident tonight never happened for the sake of the good relationship that had been established between us and endure the embarrassment that had reached the tip of my head.
I stupidly forgot to lock the bedroom. But if I locked the room, and no one helped me, then I would have swallowed a lot of soapy water and who knows what would have happened to me.
Why did I have to faint? Maybe it’s true what Jay said. I’d better get my condition checked at the hospital rather than someday I suddenly faint somewhere and no one helps. Hopefully, this is just a symptom of fatigue.
Jay, a kind man. I was impressed with him from the first time I met him. If only Megan weren’t between us, maybe I would have tried to get close to him if he had responded in the same way. Unfortunately, Megan was among us. After all, there was Jessie among them, even though Jay doubted Megan was Jessie’s mother.
Could Jessie be my daughter? Then, who was the baby girl in the grave that I named Daisy? How can I find out? Do I need to ask Jay? Ah yes, I should ask Jay since Ken has met and seen Jensen. I was sure Jay would already know. But he looked casual and said nothing to me.
However, I still have to ask him tomorrow morning to fulfill my curiosity. I’d better get some sleep now and wake up early tomorrow morning.
The next morning, before going down to the first floor to eat breakfast, I hurriedly knocked on Jay’s room door, even though doubts kept holding me back from canceling my original intention. However, to fulfill my curiosity, I didn’t budge.
After knocking on his bedroom door several times, there was no answer from inside. Could it be that he was still asleep? Maybe I woke up too early. But, it’s already 7:30 am. Didn’t Jessie say that Jay always wakes up early, earlier than everyone else in the mansion? I should try knocking on his door one more time.
Not long after, there was a voice from inside. “Yes, come in. The door is unlocked.”
Once the door was wide open, I walked into the room. However, what a surprise it was when I saw Jay coming out of the bathroom wearing only a small towel covering her sensitive parts. His body was so seductive that my face turned red with embarrassment.
