Maisie's POV
Bela kept talking, trying to lighten the mood. "So, how's your preparation for this party? Is everything ready?"
I nodded, though deep down, it felt like I wasn’t fully prepared. "I think everything is okay. But I'm a bit anxious; this is a big event."
"Don't worry," Bela replied while sewing, "Everyone here just wants to have fun. Remember, you are the star of the night!"
From the corner of my eye, I could see Alexander standing by the window, looking outside, seemingly lost in thought. My feelings were mixed again. Did he really want to have fun, or was something bothering him?
I wished to see his warm smile and maybe share everything after the party was over.
"All done?" Alexander asked when I returned with Bela.
I nodded, smiling as I linked my arm with Alexander again.
"I'm off then, okay? I need to mingle with other guests," Bela said with a friendly smile before walking away.
Alexander and I immediately went up to the dais to congratulate the happy couple today. Only after that did we join the other guests in enjoying the colorful banquet.
After congratulating the newlyweds, the atmosphere around us felt warm and filled with joy. Soft music played, and the laughter of the guests filled the room. Alexander and I sat at a table not far from the stage, enjoying the beautifully presented dishes.
"What do you think of this event?" Alexander asked, casually taking a piece of cake.
"Great! I love the atmosphere," I replied, looking at him with gratitude. "Especially when the couple danced. They looked so happy."
Alexander nodded, his smile broadening. "You look happy too. So, when can we celebrate something like this?"
I smiled, feeling my heart race. "Who knows? Maybe someday."
We continued chatting while enjoying our meal, joking about everything from favorite foods to future plans. Every moment with him felt precious, and I cherished this time wholeheartedly.
As the event grew livelier, we joined in the dancing, allowing ourselves to be swept away by the cheerful rhythm. In the crowd, I felt Alexander's presence beside me, giving me an overwhelming sense of safety and happiness.
Indeed, as Alexander said, this wedding party became a showcase. Throughout the evening, I noticed guests dressed to the nines. Beautiful, sparkling gowns, suits paired with perfect ties, and eye-catching accessories created their own allure.
Some wore striking red gowns, while others chose soft pastel shades. Everyone seemed to shine, as if they wanted to present the best versions of themselves to each other.
I chuckled to myself seeing some guests trying to take selfies against the stage backdrop, posing as if they were the stars of the night. "Looks like we should take a photo too," I said to Alexander, suggesting we capture this beautiful moment.
"Alright, but we have to make it look natural," he replied, glancing at the crowd posing.
We stood slightly away from the commotion, and Alexander wrapped his arm around my waist. With a broad smile, I posed as if it was just the two of us in the world.
After several snaps, I felt happy seeing Alexander's cheerful face. "We should do this more often," I said, looking at him with hope.
"Maybe after we celebrate our own day," he answered, his eyes sparkling with dreams.
Tonight, amidst the bustle and luxury, I felt a genuine warmth in our relationship. It felt like this was the beginning of many beautiful moments to come.
Alexander handed me a glass of water and a tissue, a warm smile etched on his face. "Drink plenty, okay? Don't get dehydrated," he said gently.
I nodded as I took a sip, feeling the refreshment flow down my throat. "Thank you, dear," I said, then wiped a bit of sweat from my forehead with the tissue he gave me.
After that, Alexander sat beside me, enjoying the served dishes. He took a piece of roasted chicken and devoured it eagerly. "Delicious, right?" he asked, his mouth still full.
I nodded, tasting the appetizing dish. "Yes, it's really good! All the food here is amazing," I replied with a smile.
We continued eating while chatting, discussing various light topics. From hobbies to vacation plans, every conversation felt enjoyable. I felt comfortable, as if all the world's problems disappeared when I was next to him.
Before long, the atmosphere grew even livelier with music and the laughter of guests arriving. Alexander and I exchanged glances, and a new excitement filled us. Occasionally, we laughed together at funny moments happening around us, adding warmth to this joyous night.
"Looks like things are getting cozy." Someone patted Alexander's shoulder just after he finished the main course.
"Wahyu?" Alexander smiled slightly as he saw his lawyer and close friend standing next to him. "I should have known you were invited too."
Wahyu chuckled happily. Shaking my hand and nodding politely, he then turned back to Alexander. "Come with me for a moment; there's something we need to talk about."
Alexander frowned. "Can't we talk here?"
"There's no place, Alexander." Wahyu pointed to the chairs around a table that were already full. Then he leaned down and whispered in Alexander's ear. "This is about Mr. Tambun's case."
Alexander glanced at me for a moment, and I could sense a bit of hesitation in his eyes. But before I could say anything, he stood up and nodded. "Okay, wait a minute," he said to me before stepping away with Wahyu.
I watched them walk away, blending into the crowd of guests who were enjoying the atmosphere. My curiosity piqued, but I also understood that they might need to discuss something important.
While I waited, I distracted myself by observing my surroundings. Other guests interacted cheerfully, some of them had already started dancing on the floor. The music playing made the atmosphere even livelier, and I could feel the positive energy in the air.
"Yes, of course," he replied, smiling again. "Tonight has to be fun."
"Where's Mr. Alexander?" Randi was already standing near Alexander's empty chair.
"There, talking to his friend." I pointed to Alexander and Wahyu, who looked like they were having a serious conversation a few meters away.
"Then I'll keep you company here for a bit, okay?" Randi sat down in Alexander's chair.
"But if Mr. Alexander comes, you have to move, right?"
Randi laughed. "Yeah, yeah."
