Maisie's POV
I and Alexander chose several sets of jewelry at once. "So we won't have to worry about shopping for jewelry later," Alexander said, showcasing some interesting options.
I nodded in agreement, feeling happy to select the jewelry that would enhance my appearance on my wedding day. Each set we chose felt like it had its own story and meaning. This process was not just about the jewelry but also about creating memories that would last forever.
Well, that's Alexander for you. Effective and efficient.
I smiled, feeling impressed by his practical approach. He always tried to minimize stress, especially before a big event like this. Seeing how serious he was in choosing the jewelry made me feel valued and cared for. This moment was not just about the jewelry but also about our teamwork as a couple in preparing for our happy day.
At four in the afternoon, the black sedan cut through the capital's streets, heading to a hospital. Our schedule today was indeed packed. After fitting our clothes, buying jewelry, and a bag, it was now time for Alexander to have a check-up on his post-surgery wound.
Inside the car, the atmosphere felt mixed. I tried to focus on the plans we had made, but my mind kept drifting to Alexander's health. He had been through so much, and now we had to ensure everything went smoothly.
"I hope everything is okay," I said, looking at him with concern. Alexander smiled, trying to reassure me. "It's just a routine check-up. We'll be fine."
With his words, he tried to calm both me and himself. We knew that even though today was busy, every step we took was part of the journey toward the long-awaited happy day.
A probe moved over Alexander's abdomen, scanning the area around his surgical wound. The doctor appeared focused, examining the condition of Alexander's stomach wound. Although the external wound had healed perfectly, this examination was important to ensure there were no internal issues.
The atmosphere in the room was calm, with only the soft sound of the ultrasound machine. Alexander lay relaxed, though he looked slightly tense. The doctor occasionally explained the process, providing information about what they saw on the screen.
Every second felt tense, but the hope for good news kept us going. This was an important step in Alexander's recovery, and we both hoped for positive results.
"Looks good. Scar tissue has formed over the wound, so there's enough strength to keep it closed. No infection, no inflammation," the doctor explained while looking at the monitor.
Alexander listened intently, realizing that all examination results indicated good progress. After the explanation, he asked, "So what activities am I allowed to do, Doc?"
The doctor responded in detail, giving guidelines on permitted activities and limitations that still needed to be observed. This was an important step in Alexander's recovery process, and this information was very helpful for planning future daily activities.
The doctor explained, "You can start increasing the intensity of your workouts. But it's best not to lift weights yet. Also, if your abdomen feels painful or uncomfortable, stop the activity immediately."
Alexander nodded, absorbing all the information given. He felt relieved to hear good news about his recovery but remained aware of the importance of taking care of himself and not rushing. With a clear understanding of activity limits, he could plan his next steps in the recovery process.
The doctor cleaned off the gel from Alexander's abdomen and gently pressed on the surgical scar. After ensuring everything was normal, they were allowed to go home.
"Come back for a check-up if there are any complaints. As long as there are no complaints, everything is safe," the surgeon said with a bright smile.
Alexander and I said our goodbyes, feeling a weight lifted after receiving positive results. We stepped out of the room with a sense of relief, ready to continue the day with renewed enthusiasm. This success motivated us to continue taking care of our health and conduct our activities wisely.
All the day's agenda went smoothly. However, Alexander noticed one strange thing: I looked anxious. When they were in the car heading home, his attention turned to me.
He immediately asked, "What's wrong?" without any preamble, reflecting deep concern and care.
His gaze showed he wanted to know more about what was bothering my mind. This moment reminded me that behind all the busyness and happiness, there was room for mutual support and understanding.
"What's wrong?" I raised both eyebrows. "What do you mean?"
"You seem like there's something still unresolved. Is there somewhere else you want to go, Maisie? It's still five o'clock; we have time before dinner," Alexander suggested.
His words made me pause for a moment. Perhaps there were some things I wanted to do or places I wanted to visit before the day ended. This anxiety didn't arise without reason; there was a desire within me that had yet to be fulfilled. Alexander, with his attentive demeanor, provided an opportunity to explore what might make me feel better.
I seemed to be thinking, occasionally glancing at Angga, who was busy driving. After a moment, I shook my head. However, the expression on my face remained the same, indicating that there was something weighing on my mind.
The moment created a silence in the car, as if there were many things left unsaid. Alexander looked at me attentively, trying to understand what was going on in my mind. Even though I shook my head, the feeling of unease still haunted me, and I felt the need to explain further.
Alexander frowned, sensing something was left unspoken. He tried to reassure me, “I know there's something you want. Maisie, you can say anything. Do you want to buy sandals, shoes, a bag? Just tell me, Maisie.” His voice began to sound a bit demanding, reflecting the uncertainty he felt.
I simply shook my head, affirming, “No, I don’t want any of that.” Even though I knew Alexander wanted to help, the unease I felt wasn’t about material things. There was something deeper that needed to be expressed, but the words felt difficult to come out. Silence enveloped the car again, emphasizing the unspoken feelings.
Alexander looked concerned, trying to find a solution. He asked, “So what? Do you want to eat out? Is there a restaurant or a food you want to try?”
Meanwhile, Angga, who was sitting in the front seat, tried to lighten the mood with his joke. “What are you craving, Maisie? Just say it, I’m ready to take you rather than have the boss’s kid drooling after being born,” he said, successfully causing me to laugh.
However, that laughter was met with a sharp look from Alexander, who clearly did not appreciate the joke. The moment created a mix of laughter and tension, showing how important communication and understanding were between them. Amidst the banter, I still felt that there was something that needed to be expressed.
