Chapter 35 A Passionate Touch
Chapter 35 A Passionate Touch
“This house belongs to Logan. Not only that, but he’s the one who bought you your tickets. He’s the one who paid $100 million in compensation to the victims’ families. He’s also the one who paid a $150 million penalty to the company because I breached my employment contract by failing to produce a design.” Harper explained everything. She no longer kept it a secret from her parents.
“No way. He wouldn’t do that without a reason.” Liam looked very anxious. He was worried about his daughter’s future in that man’s hands. Logan had spent a lot of money to help the Salim family. What if Logan were setting a trap with that money?
“Dad, calm down.” Harper tried to reassure him.
How could he stay calm? He was truly afraid his daughter was being taken advantage of.
“Harper, do you realize that Logan is trying to buy your loyalty?” Lisa commented.
Knowing what was happening, the woman could no longer stay calm.
“Mom, Logan is my husband. It’s only natural that he’d help me. We’re still legally married. Whatever happens to the Salim family will affect Ibis Corp. Everyone now knows that I’m his wife. The media will be scrambling for stories about our relationship. Our competitors will be looking for any opening to bring down the Salim Group and Ibis Corp.” Harper tried to explain.
Liam and Lisa fell silent.
The Salim Group is currently in a critical phase. If any bad news about the Salim family circulates now, it will worsen the situation. The Salim family will still be the ones to suffer.
“I can accept all your help, but don’t get too cocky now. You still haven’t been accepted as a son-in-law of the Salim family. Once the Salim Group recovers, I’ll repay every penny you’ve spent.” Liam spoke haughtily.
Even when he was at his lowest point, he still refused to humble himself in front of Logan.
Logan merely gave a small smile.
“You can’t stay here. Even though this is your house, I have the right to refuse to let you stay here. Just think of it as if we’re renting here, so we still have the most say in this," Lisa said emphatically.
“All right, I can have my wife stay at my mansion. That’s not a problem; I understand if you want Harper and me to stay at our house.” Logan replied calmly.
Lisa clicked her tongue in annoyance at that answer.
Liam clenched both his fists tightly. His jaw tightened, his teeth grinding. Since when had Logan become so infuriating?
“You can’t take my daughter away from here!” Liam snapped harshly.
“I don’t understand what you actually want.” Logan raised his right eyebrow.
“Logan, stop provoking them. We’re not going anywhere. You and I are staying here.” Harper tried to mediate. “Mom, Dad, Logan and I have agreed to get a divorce. He’s staying here to make the divorce process easier.” She tried to convince her parents.
“He’s trying to manipulate you, Harper. Why don’t you get it?!” Liam tried to make his daughter see reason.
“Enough, Dad. You were able to return here safely thanks to Logan’s help. If it weren’t for him, you’d still be overseas, filled with anxiety and fear because of the mob’s terror.” Harper spoke firmly.
Liam fell silent. No matter how much he hated Logan, he couldn’t deny the fact that Logan had helped him. So, he stopped protesting.
“I’m sorry for how my parents acted earlier. They didn’t mean it that way.” Harper said nervously as she approached Logan, who was sitting on a chair on the second-floor balcony.
The middle-aged man was sitting there casually with a tablet in his hand. He was checking his incoming emails. A cup of hot coffee on the table kept him company.
“Forget it; I don’t mind.” He replied softly, his eyes still fixed on the tablet screen.
Harper let out a sharp sigh. She handed him a piece of paper with handwritten text; her signature was at the bottom of the paper.
“I’ve written out a handwritten agreement. I’ll pay for everything once I have the money.” She spoke with an indescribable feeling.
Logan furrowed his brow. He shifted his focus from the tablet to Harper. He stared at her intently.
“Haven’t we already discussed this? You’ll work as my assistant to pay off your debts. Or you won’t have to pay anything because your status now is my wife. Helping you is the same as saving face for me.” He said firmly.
“I’ve thought it over. My mother was right—I can’t sell my dignity to you.” Harper spoke with forced courage.
Logan exhaled roughly. He turned off his tablet and set it on the table.
“In what way am I buying your dignity?” He stared at her with a questioning look.
Harper fell silent.
Logan stood up. He stepped closer to Harper, his gaze intense.
Harper stepped back to create some distance between them.
“You came to me in a nightgown this sheer. Do you know how hard it is for me to resist touching you?” Logan said in a hoarse voice. His breathing sounded ragged. His body began to heat up as his desire surged.
Harper looked down. She bit her lower lip as she hugged herself. She kept backing away as Logan stepped forward.
Harper’s retreat came to a halt when her back hit the balcony railing. She looked up, gazing at Logan with flushed cheeks. Facing the wild look in Logan’s eyes, Harper began to feel afraid. Afraid, yet addicted to it.
“Are you teasing me right now?” Logan whispered right into Harper’s face. The heat of his breath gently caressed her face.
Harper’s heart began to race. Her breath quickened, and her defenses crumbled as Logan kissed her lips with brutal intensity. They began to kiss fiercely. No matter how hard Harper resisted, her body betrayed her. Her body loved every touch Logan gave her.
Logan’s hands began to slip beneath Harper’s nightgown. Meanwhile, their lips refused to part. Their desire began to rise to the highest level. Harper roughly squeezed Logan’s crotch. She couldn’t wait any longer to make love.
“Ma’am, sorry to interrupt. Mr. Liam wants to speak with you.” One of the maids called out from the balcony doorway.
Harper was utterly shocked. She immediately broke her kiss with Logan and shoved him away roughly. She was terrified now, as if she’d just been caught red-handed doing something she shouldn’t have.
As she tried to leave, Logan stopped her. He wasn’t going to stop the game he’d started.
“Tell him that Harper is asleep," Logan said firmly. He picked Harper up and carried her to the bedroom.
