Chapter 71 71

Chapter 71 71
Mona’s friend Elena, who was out of the country, soon told her that Avery and Helen had gone to the same college and had done the same club activities. They ought to be familiar with one another.

"What has Avery been up to lately?" Mona scowled a little and looked at the paper.

If Avery and Helen knew each other, was Avery involved in the kidnapping?

Without waiting for Elena to respond, Mona said again, "Find out if Avery has gotten a lot of money recently and if she has talked to any hackers."

“Okay.”

Mona went to the company after she had everything in order. Williams gave her a bundle of papers and remarked, "The first steps for the project are done. Next week, we will attend to the government's meeting. After that, the building can begin.”

The meeting was just a formality because they had already agreed with the mayor. Mona read the paper very attentively. She gave it back to Williams after making sure there was no problem. "Pay more attention during this time. Some bad people will take the chance to get out.”

Williams nodded and asked. "Also, It should be time for the Hunt Family to pay back the money, but we can't get in touch with them right now."

"You can't get in touch with them right now?" Mona made a face.

"I'm afraid they are purposely avoiding you. You can tell the law firm to send them a letter from a lawyer right away.“

"Don't worry; I'll take care of it now." Mona responded.

….

Mona got a call from Rita later that evening.

"Mona, how could you send us a letter from a lawyer?”

Mona frowned and pulled the phone away as Rita spoke in a loud voice.

"I thought you understood it when you signed the contract, but that didn't seem to be the case."

Rita stopped for a second and remarked, "Just because you've moved up in the world doesn't mean you can get rid of us! Believe it or not, we'll tell the media about you and make it impossible for your business to run. I know that your company's project is going to start soon. At this important time, you don't want to cause any trouble, do you?”

Mona couldn't stop herself from sneering. She had just cautioned Williams to be careful of individuals who want anything from him, but she didn't think the Hunt Family would be the first to come out.

"I dare you to do your worst.”

Mona hung up the phone and blocked Rita’s number. She looked at her phone and said, "One, two, three."

Bailey called her right away, as she thought.

"Do you have to be so cruel, Mona?" Bailey was quite angry. "How could you have married Leo back then if it weren't for us? I heard that you even had his kids. It's all because of…”

Mona raised her eyebrows and cut him off, "You know a lot."

Not many people realized that Leo was the father of Luke and Rue. Sydney was the only one who told the Hunt Family about this in private.

Bailey stopped and wanted to say something else. Mona said, "It's better to ask Sydney to help you pay back the money than to listen to her and try to get her to make trouble for me. She is Mrs. Cox, after all. She shouldn't have any trouble helping you.”

Mona hung up the phone again before Bailey could say anything else. She promptly blocked his number and Adina’s too.

At last, it was silent.

Rue couldn't wait to tell Mona the good news when she got to the hospital.

"The doctor said we can go home today!"

Mona was surprised to see Mr. Jenner, and she nodded. She grinned and gave Rue a hug. "This is great news. Should we go home tomorrow?"

Like a pampered child, Rue wrapped her arms around Mona’s neck. “I want to go to the park of fun.”

Mona touched her small nose. "Who was so scared of a clown at the amusement park last time that she said she would never go back?"

Rue moved her eyes and didn't say anything. Mr. and Mrs. Jenner chuckled and swiftly followed her.

Rue felt ashamed and stated, "I have grown up now, and I am no longer afraid of clowns." She had a scarlet face.

Mona also understood she had to stop. She asked Luke, "Do you want to go to the amusement park too?"

Luke nodded right away.

"Since everyone wants to go, let's go to the amusement park together tomorrow!"

Mona smiled and told the kids, which made them scream with joy.

The kids woke her up early the next day, and she was happy. She had to quickly clean herself up because the sky was so bright.

Mona saw Leo right away when she got to the door. He was wearing casual clothing. "Why are you here?"

Leo smiled and straightened his back. "I'm their dad. Of course, I want to be with them.”
