Chapter 59 059
Chapter 59 059
Leo’s face grew cold, and he looked at Conan with a frosty look. "From what I know, the mother of your boy has come to your house to take him away. I'm sorry, but you don't have the time to get involved here anymore.”
Conan glared at Leo, ready to say something back, but his phone rang. It was his mother calling.
"Helen is here. She wants custody of Stefan. Please hurry back home...”
Conan stopped in his tracks. He looked at Mona, who understood what was going on. "You should hurry back because you have something to do. Mr. Cox won't hurt me.”
"I won't let you get away with it if you hurt her!" Conan made a threat then quickly fled.
Leo’s eyes showed a trace of mockery as he watched him leave. "Looks like your fiancé isn't as dependable as you thought. At least when it matters most, he doesn't choose you.”
Mona didn't say anything. Her eyes met Leo’s softly. "Mr. Cox, you've gone to a lot of trouble to talk to me alone. What did you wish to talk about?”
As soon as she said this, Leo’s expression turned gloomy. His deep eyes were riveted on her. "Who is the dad of those two kids?"
Mona’s heart skipped a beat, but she didn't show it on her face. "Mr. Cox, with all the information you have, shouldn't you have known the answer a long time ago?"
Leo moved a few steps closer and reached out to tilt her chin up, making her look him in the eye. "I want you to tell me the answer in person now."
Mona made a tight grip with her hand at her side, and her nails dug deep into her palm.
"Both of them are Conan’s kids?”
If he had heard these comments earlier, he might have gone off in a rage. But right now, he just peered deeply into her eyes and smiled. "Really? I don't think so.” He delicately tapped his finger on the medical records of the two kids that he had brought out. "The Gray family doesn't have these genetic traits: they don't have the peanut allergy or the Rh-negative trait blood type."
Mona didn't think he would be able to get Luke and Rue’s medical records so quickly. She tightened her grip on her hand even more.
"It's just a coincidence. Mr. Cox.”
Leo said plainly, "Since you're not willing to admit it, we'll get a paternity test done." He saw that she was holding to her denial.
He thought he knew her well. She wasn't the kind of person who would quickly look for a partner after a breakup, let alone have two kids.
Mona firmly said no, "I won't agree to a paternity test."
Leo’s face grew hard. "I'm sorry, but you don't have a say in this." He reached out and grasped her wrist, but before he could say anything, a small figure came rushing at him like a cannonball and hit him hard. "You big meanie! You can't be mean to my mom!” Rue was so upset that her face grew red. Her big eyes were locked on Leo with unyielding focus.
Rue’s crash didn't hurt much because she was so small. Seeing this gentle and plump kid made Leo’s seem softer right away.
He looked attentively at Rue and finally saw some of his own features between her eyes and brows.
When Mona saw that he was looking at her, she quickly stepped forward and stood between them. "I won't agree to what you want. Now you can go."
Leo looked at her briefly and continued, "You should know that there's nothing I want to do that I can't do. In addition to...”
Rue on the side became thrilled again before he could finish his sentence. She reached out her little hand and pushed him over and over. She yelled as she pushed him, "If you don't leave, I'll have my godfather take you away! You bad guy!"
When Leo realized that Rue’s "godfather" was Conan, his face got much worse. But Rue’s feelings were too strong.
He didn't want to ruin his relationship with the kids now, so he looked Mona in the eye and stated, "Someone will come to get them for a paternity test tomorrow. You should realize that running away won't work.”
He was already approximately seventy percent sure that Luke and Rue were his kids after this time spent together.
Mona’s face shifted a little, and she carefully hid Rue behind her. "You can try it to see if I will do what you want."
The two went their separate ways without saying anything else. Mona thought about Leo’s leaving figure after he went. She knew for sure that it would be easy for him to get samples from the kids for a paternity test. He came to see her today to give her one final chance.
She took out her phone and called the doctor after Rue had calmed down.
On the other hand, as soon as Conan got home, he could see that the living room was tight.
Mrs. Poppy Gray grabbed Stefan’s hand warmly as they sat on the left side of the living room. Helen Shell sat alone on the right side.
"We've already talked to lawyers, and if we go to court for custody, our chances of winning are high," Mrs. Poppy Gray said angrily to Helen.
Helen Shell, on the other hand, grinned a little and said, "Is that so? Then we may go to court to settle it.” She reached out to touch Stefan’s hand after they talked. "You can’t see Stefan anymore until the custody arrangement is set," she said.
"Wait a minute!" Conan was so angry that he yelled at Helen, "You've gone to such lengths to plan this. Is it all simply about money?” He didn't want to make things too awkward because the child was there. "You name your price, and we'll take care of the kid." He could feel the weird vibe between Stefan and Helen now, and he couldn't just let him go with her.
Helen slowly turned her scarlet lips into a smile and said, "My request has always been simple." She looked at Conan and said, "I want to be your wife."
"Impossible," Conan said right away, and his face become serious. He was already in love with someone else, and even if he was single, he wouldn't still agree to Helen’s terms. This woman was like a snake in the grass that was ready to bite at any minute. He couldn't possible keep someone so dangerous close by.
“there was nothing further to say. Let's go.” Helen said.
Mrs. Poppy Gray clutched Stefan’s hand tightly and looked at him with a trace of desperation in her eyes. "Stef, please stay."
Stefan’s face showed a hint of pain as he looked at Helen with trepidation. She smiled back at him.
Stefan shuddered a little and hastily shook his head. "I'm sorry, Grandma, but I have to go with my mom." He finished what he was saying and went with Helen without looking back.
