Chapter 33: Arrogant and Overbearing
Chapter 33: Arrogant and Overbearing
"Victoria, don't think you can be so arrogant just because you're a department manager."
"Sitting in front of you is the General Manager of our Maplewood Hotel. How dare you question him like that? Who do you think you are?"
"It's only because Mr. Brooks is so well-mannered that he doesn't bother with you. If it were someone else, they would've slapped you already."
Janice suddenly appeared and attacked Victoria, finally defending Billy's dignity. Billy's lips curled into a smile, and he felt a bit more appreciation for Janice.
As a man and the General Manager, his position made it awkward to get into a fight with Victoria.
But Janice was different - she was a woman, his secretary, and of course, his mistress.
Having her stand up and criticize Victoria was just perfect, wasn't it?
Victoria lifted her face and looked at Janice before her, so domineering and arrogant that anyone who didn't know better would think she was Billy's wife.
The subtle eye contact between Janice and Billy fell into Victoria's view.
Victoria seemed to understand a bit now.
"Fine, my attitude was bad. I apologize to Mr. Brooks."
"However, I will not agree to let Connor return to our department. I'm sorry, Mr. Brooks."
Victoria didn't waste any more time with Janice and Billy. She stood up, opened the door directly, and left Billy's office.
Billy secretly gave Janice a thumbs up.
Janice continued cursing at Victoria's retreating figure relentlessly.
"What type of person is this? Daring to talk to Mr. Brooks like that - it's clearly insubordination."
"A department manager like you will be fired sooner or later."
Victoria turned a deaf ear to Janice's words. Maplewood Hotel would return to her hands one day, and getting into too much conflict with these people wasn't a good strategy.
She would use her own methods to drive parasites like Janice and Billy out of Maplewood Hotel.
Before Victoria even got back to her office, news of her dispute with Billy and being scolded by Janice had spread throughout Maplewood Hotel like wildfire.
People from various departments started gossiping.
Even the Administrative Department where Victoria now worked was buzzing with discussion.
"How bold must this new Ms. Hughes be? Daring to argue with Mr. Brooks - looks like she's not far from being fired."
"Yeah, Mr. Brooks holds grudges. He definitely won't let Ms. Hughes off the hook."
"Ms. Hughes just took office and immediately kicked Connor out. She's really gotten herself into big trouble."
"Our department's going to be changing managers again soon."
...
When Victoria's footsteps entered the Administrative Department, these high and low discussions suddenly fell silent.
Grant followed closely behind Victoria into her office.
"Ms. Hughes, I heard about what happened in Mr. Brooks' office just now. What do you plan to do next?"
Grant looked very worried about Victoria.
In fact, deep down, he didn't want Connor to return to the Administrative Department at all. After all, he was now the Deputy Manager of the Administrative Department.
If Connor came back, he wouldn't be able to keep his position.
After weighing the pros and cons, he was still willing to stand on the same side as Victoria.
"What else can I do? Keep resisting. I can't let Connor come back." Victoria was firm in her decision.
Grant rolled his eyes. He looked back somewhat mysteriously, then pulled out several photos from his pocket and placed them in front of Victoria.
After seeing these photos, Victoria's scalp tingled.
In the photos, Janice and Billy were actually touching and embracing each other.
The actions in the photos were quite exaggerated. Victoria could clearly see Billy's hand inserted inside Janice's underwear.
The scene was extremely pornographic.
"Where did you get these photos?" Victoria asked Grant.
Grant smiled cunningly and said, "That Janice has bullied quite a few of our colleagues by taking advantage of her special relationship with Mr. Brooks."
"These photos were taken by everyone on the spot. Ms. Hughes, how about I have someone put these photos in everyone's work group chat to disgust them a bit?"
Grant's words made Victoria think deeply.
Putting them in the work group chat to let colleagues know about their scandal wouldn't be enough to strike at Janice and Billy.
Disgusting them a bit wouldn't achieve Victoria's goal at all.
Next, she really wanted to deal with Billy, so she would start with that arrogant Janice first.
Thinking of this, Victoria reached out and took the photos, putting them in her drawer.
She said, "Leave these photos with me for now. I have a use for them."
Grant was shrewd. Although he didn't know what Victoria planned to do next, he trusted his judgment of people.
Victoria had character. If he worked hard with her, he might earn himself a bright future.
After work, Victoria drove away from the hotel. She turned her car onto a small road and entered a courier company.
More than ten minutes later, she drove away and returned to William's villa.
Just as she parked the car, she saw Quinn coming out of the villa with a document.
Seeing Victoria get out of the car, she hurriedly said to Victoria, "Mrs. Ashford, I need to trouble you."
"What's wrong?" Seeing Quinn's anxious look, Victoria looked at the document in her hand with confusion.
Quinn explained, "Mr. Ashford needs to sign a very important contract with someone, but he left his document at home. He asked me to bring it to him, but I can't drive and would have to call a ride-share."
"Since you just got back, could you help deliver the document to Mr. Ashford? I'll send you the address on WhatsApp."
Hearing Quinn say this, Victoria couldn't refuse. As William's wife in name, Victoria had a responsibility to help him deliver a document.
Thinking of this, Victoria took the document and said to Quinn, "Okay, I'll go now."
Taking the document, Victoria drove to the address Quinn had sent her.
As soon as her car left, a smile appeared on Quinn's face.
She quickly took out her phone and sent a message to Wayne.
[Mr. Wayne Ashford, I had Mrs. Ashford deliver the document to Mr. William Ashford. Mr. William Ashford will definitely be very happy to see Mrs. Ashford. Don't worry, I'm doing my best to bring them closer together.]
Soon, Wayne replied: [Young people need opportunities to spend more time together. You did well. I'll give you a bonus this month.]
More than ten minutes later, Victoria drove to the address Quinn had sent her.
Just as she got out of the car, she saw Sarah talking with one of her friends. Catching sight of Victoria approaching, she raised her voice.
