Chapter 15 Never Because Of A Man.
Darius.
I stood at the entrance, watching their car for a long time. They stayed there a while, and I saw hands in the air for a bit.
I worried, wanting to move towards the car. Not long after, the car drove off, leaving me with my thoughts.
I looked around, taking in the evening and taking a very slow walk to my own car. I got in and sped off immediately, driving straight home. I deserved rest, too.
In a bit, I was at the mansion, in the master's, laying in my bed. I took my phone and placed a call to my right-hand man, Bruno. He was the right person to call in times like this.
I needed more information about this girl. And quick, especially if I was going to get my pay from Delilah.
Delilah. Oh, Delilah.
My mind flooded with images of her. Beautiful. Stunning. I felt her touch on my skin. Smelled her perfume. Her hands, her vanilla scented hair.
I was going crazy over that girl. And she knew it.
I needed another night with her. I needed release. I needed that very badly. The call pulled through.
“Hello, sir?” His voice was groggy, like I'd woken him from sleep.
“Hello, Bruno. I need you to get something done. I'm going to send her name now. Conduct a search. Get me her history, any family members, and possible friends, and whoever else she might be affiliated with. I want everything on her by tomorrow morning. Got that?”
“Duly noted, sir. I'll be there early in the morning.” That was the one reason I kept Bruno. He was reliable.
“Good.”
Good.
I put my phone down, shutting it off, and going to sleep.
When I opened my eyes in the morning, I felt rejuvenated. I got up and selected clothes, getting in the shower almost immediately.
As I stood in the shower, I saw her again.
Delilah.
Naked this time. Walking towards me. Taking off her clothes bit by bit. This girl was driving me crazy. I either needed to kill Aria or kill Jess, whichever came first.
I felt a fresh wave of anger as I thought back to last night. Who did he think he was, claiming her in front of me? She still wanted him. That was the only reason he remained alive.
I breathed, letting the cold water wake me up.
Soon enough, I was out of the bathroom, throwing my clothes on and using some cologne before walking downstairs for breakfast. It is the most important meal of the day, after all. I sat down, picking up a fork and digging in when Bruno appeared.
He was always right on time. Exactly how I liked it.
“Morning, Bruno.” I greeted, still chewing.
“Morning, sir. Here's the file of everything you need on Aria Jones. She's petite. 5'5, with a very defiant personality. She has challenged lots and lots of people, is very skilled at her workplace, and is well known for being a great, trusted employee.”
“I'm not asking for her resume. I'm not trying to hire her. I need facts. Where does she live? Who's her family?” He faltered, regaining his composure almost immediately, hands placed calmly in front of himself.
“She lives in the quieter parts of town, the poorer parts. She lives with her grandmother, and used to work at Alex Corp before getting fired a few days ago. It hasn't been too long since she was fired. She is said to have been in a long-term relationship with Jess Andrew.”
“The last place she was sighted was on the streets dishing out CVs the afternoon after she was fired. That was the day after Mrs Hart's wedding.” I breathe, picking at the food in front of me. I'd lost my appetite.
Something was definitely wrong somewhere. She had affiliations with Jess.
Is that why Delilah wanted her dead?
Delilah was trying to keep her man. She was using me as a tool.
I smiled.
“Alright. Anything else?” I looked up at him.
“The rest of it's in the file there, sir.”
“Alright, then. Good job. Send two men out to watch her, wherever she is. I need both eyes on her at all times. Let them take shifts.” I dished out instructions .
“Know where she goes, when she comes back, who she talks to. Monitor all her movements and everything that she does from here on out. I do not want to hear otherwise. Got that?”
“Yes, sir.” he said, nodding profusely.
“I want to know everything. Everything. And then get me a hitman. Somebody simple that can get the job done quickly.” He smiled.
That was Bruno's specialty, finding me men. He loved the job, and I was happy to pay him for it.
“Yes, sir, right on it.”
“Good, you can go now.” I smiled as he left, knowing I had left the work in capable hands. Bruno never disappointed, and he wouldn't start now. He walked back the same way he came, and then I concentrated on my breakfast.
Five years. Five years I had known Delilah Hart. I had seen every side of her. The big, the bad, the ugly. And through it all, I loved her. Through it all, I saw beyond what everybody else saw. I saw beyond the wealth.
I saw her. A beautiful, smart, feminine woman. She satiated all of my innermost desires. Gave me things I could only dream of. That was why I wanted her so much. That was why I desired her.
And in all those years, never had she wanted another man more than she wanted Jess. Never had she picked another man over me. Delilah had done quite a lot over the years I'd known her, but never had she wanted to kill because of a man.
It never got to that point.
What was so special about this Jess? I had to know, because right now it looked like he wasn't going to see the light of day again. I finished up with breakfast and I walked out of the house, getting in my car and driving of. I needed to make a quick stop at the office.
