Chapter 57 HOW?!

Chapter 57 HOW?!
HOW?!

Samantha was deeply engrossed in her work, typing away on her computer as she tried to meet the looming deadline for her project.

Her office was a cozy, cluttered space filled with stacks of papers, books, and the occasional knick-knack.

The soft hum of the fluorescent lights overhead and the gentle whir of her computer's fan created a soothing background noise that helped her focus.

Just as she was hitting her stride, a knock at the door broke the spell.

Samantha looked up from her screen, slightly annoyed at the interruption, and called out,

"Come in!"

The door creaked open, and Annie, a bright smile on her face, stepped into the office.

Samantha's expression softened as she took in Annie's cheerful demeanor.

"Have a seat," Samantha said, gesturing to the chair in front of her desk.

Annie closed the door behind her and made her way to the chair, her eyes scanning the cluttered office with interest.

She sat down, smoothing out her skirt, and looked up at Samantha expectantly.

Samantha leaned back in her chair, steepling her fingers together as she asked,

"So, what brings you here today? Everything okay?"

Annie's smile faltered for a moment, and she hesitated before speaking.

“Take a look at me very well do you recognize me?”

Samantha's eyes narrowed as she stared at Annie.

She couldn't figure out where she had seen Annie before.

“I don't think we have met before”

“That's not possible, look at me very well”

“Can you just go straight to the point, I have a lot of things to do” Samantha said, her voice raising in anger.

Annie stood up from the chair she was sitting and moved to where Samantha was, bringing her face closer to Samantha's eyes.

“You still can't recognize me?”

“Can you just go back to your seat”

“Okay then” Annie walked back to her seat, settling on it.

“Like I said before, I have a lot of things to do, I don't recognize you so I would be happy if you can tell me the reason why you are here”.

“I'm Annie”

“Annie? I don't think I have heard that name before, anyways how may I help you?”

“Firstly, I would introduce myself”

“Go ahead, I'm all ears” Samantha said with anxiety.

“I'm Annie, Camilla's step sister, I contested for the competition and I know that I was supposed to emerge as the winner”

“Oh about that, the winner had been chosen already, so you can contest again if we organize another competition”

“There was probably a mix-up, don't you think Camilla bribed the competition organizers”

“Come to think of it, you said you are Camilla's step sister, you should be happy for her at least”

“Never, I hate her so much and I don't consider her as my family”

“Hmm” Samantha sighed heavily.

“Anyways I need your help”

“Help? What's the help all about?”

“Promise me you would help me no matter my request”

“I can't promise you that, I need to know what the help is all about.”

“Okay, I want you to terminate Camilla's space in this entertainment industry, I want to take over” Annie said.

“What!” Samantha exclaimed.

“Please, help me with that”

“I can never do that, the competition was a live program and everyone knows that Camilla is the winner”

“I believe you can help me”

“No I can't, I am Camilla's best friend so you don't expect me to betray her trust for me”

The moment Samantha made the statement, Annie burst into laughter.

Samantha's eyes widened in surprise as Annie burst into laughter, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

Samantha stepped back, taken aback by Annie's sudden outburst.

"Why are you laughing?" she asked, her voice tinged with confusion.

"What I said wasn't funny, I think...anyway, it's funny to you, I suppose."

Annie's laughter slowly subsided, and she wiped tears from her eyes.

"So, you're Camilla's best friend," she said, her voice dripping with malice.

Samantha nodded, a sense of unease growing in her stomach.

"Yes, we're best friends."

Annie's expression turned cold, her eyes glinting with anger.

"Then you've made a mistake making that bitch your best friend," she spat.

"She's not worth it, and she doesn't deserve your support. Just help me with what I said earlier, and you won't regret it."

Samantha's eyes narrowed, her anger rising to the surface.

"I think you should leave my office," she said, her voice firm.

"If this is what you're here for then I am not ready to help you, why would you be so wicked to come over to me and start bad-mouthing Camilla….."

Annie cut her off, a sly smile spreading across her face.

"I know you'll be stubborn," she said,
"But I'm prepared for you."

She reached into her bag and pulled out a brown envelope, its contents rustling ominously.

"Name your price, I'll pay," Annie said, her voice dripping with bribery.

Samantha's eyes widened in outrage, and she took a step back, her anger boiling over.

"How dare you!" she exclaimed, her voice rising. "You think you can just bribe me into doing your bidding? I'm not for sale, Annie. And I'm certainly not going to betray my best friend for you or anyone else."

Annie's smile never wavered, but her eyes flashed with anger.

"We'll see about that," she said, her voice dripping with menace.

Samantha's voice was firm and commanding.

"Get out of my office, now."

Annie stood up from the chair slowly, her eyes locked onto Samantha's.

"Soon you will find out who Camilla is, and you will regret never helping me."

Samantha didn't flinch, her expression unyielding.

She simply waved her hand and repeated,

"Get out of my office."

Annie smirked, but she knew she had to leave.

She picked up her bag and walked out of the office, her heels clicking on the floor.

As she was about to exit the building, one of the staff members, a lady, walked up to her

"Excuse me," the lady said.

Annie turned to face her.

"How may I help you?"

The lady smiled.

"My name is Nancy, and I can help you with getting Samantha's attention."

Annie's eyes narrowed.

"Really, Nancy? And how do you plan to do that?"

Nancy leaned in, a conspiratorial look on her face.

"Let's just say I have my ways. I can make sure Samantha listens to you, and helps you with whatever it is you need."

Annie's interest was piqued.

She raised an eyebrow.

"How?" she asked, her voice low and curious.
