Chapter 17 I think I hate flowers
The interview blew up on the internet. There were at least one hundred active viewers before the show started streaming.
By the time it was over, almost a million people were tuned in.
Charles walked up to the pair after the cameras were cut and pulled them into a hug. “You both did a good job, I felt so honored being your host.” He wasn’t a short man but he stopped just a little above their chest.
“Thank you for having us,” Rowan replied, looking at Adrian with a bit of concern. He’d gone totally quiet after they were done and was seeming to avoid eye contact with Rowan.
“Maybe we should go out for dinner together to celebrate. I can’t even wait for the movie to come out. I know the two of you will smash it!”
Adrian managed a small smile as they went backstage. His fingers were itching to pull out his phone and go through the comments on the channel.
It’s been years but he still had anxiety whenever he started a new project. His therapist had warned him several times never to check the comments, but he couldn’t help it.
He knew he had loyal fans that would always have his back and fight for him—he very much appreciated them. But he also knew he had anti-fans that would do anything to drag his career into the mud.
“Are you okay?” Rowan asked in a small voice, fighting the urge to put the back of his palm on Adrian’s forehead.
Adrian hadn’t even realized they were back in the dressing room.
“Where is everyone?”
“I asked them to leave. You look like you need the space.” He grabbed Adrian’s shoulders and helped him sit down. “I didn’t know your anxiety was this bad.”
Adrian’s nose scrunched up in distaste, the first reaction he was showing after Rowan’s fingers grazed his neck.
He’d frozen then, afraid that Rowan would feel how fast his heart was beating and get the wrong idea.
No, he wouldn’t be totally wrong.
“Taking notes so you can use it against me in the future?” Adrian asked in a sarcastic tone. “I’m fine, no need to concern yourself with my wellbeing.”
There was a knock at the door and they both turned to see who it was.
One of the assistants poked in their head. “Mr. Rowan, there’s someone here to see you.”
“Let them in.”
The door opened all the way and a stunning woman walked in. She was dressed in a bright red gown that matched her lips, a flower bouquet in hand.
It wasn’t hard for Adrian to recognize who she was. After all, she’d been photographed many times with Rowan, and every gossip blog had a field day whenever she went online to give details of their relationship.
“Darlinggggg,” she drawled before launching herself at Rowan who had no choice but to hug her.
“What are you doing here?” his voice was back to that monotonous sound that made him seem disintered in everything happening around him.
“Why didn’t you tell me about the interview? It hurts to hear it from others.” She placed her perfectly manicured fingers on Rowan’s bicep. “But it’s fine, I’m just here to congratulate you.”
She thrust the flowers in Adrian’s direction. “Help him with it.”
Adrian raised a brow at her, already annoyed by the high pitch in her voice. “Are his hands broken?”
Rose Beckham huffed before pouting at Rowan. “He sure has an attitude like you said. How about we get lunch together, there’s a new restaurant I’ve been dying to try out with you.”
So Rowan has been talking about him. Did he also mention to his ex-girlfriend that he was now married?
Looks like Rowan was the one in need of all those rules he’d drawn up.
“I’m busy,” was Rowan’s clipped reply, his eyes picking up the tick in Adrian’s jaw. “And we’re all having lunch together…”
“Then let me come with you!” She pressed her big boobs that were threatening to spill out on Rowan’s chest.
“You’re not a part of this project, just go home.”
Adrian pulled off his suit as he watched the two of them. He couldn’t help the anger he felt but he also couldn’t deny that Rose was beautiful.
She was exactly the kind of woman that deserved to be on Rowan’s arm. And that annoyed Adrian for no reason.
He went in and changed into his own clothes, finally happy to be away from all that pink and flowers.
Maybe he should hit Jack up again, he could use alcohol and maybe a girl on his arm. Rowan wasn’t the only one that knew hot women like Rose.
Daniel came into the dressing room just as Adrian was about to leave.
The director looked at Rose who was still glued to Rowan and realized why Adrian looked like he was about to murder someone.
“We’re all set to leave. Ms. Rose, are you coming with us? Although I’d advise you not to, Rowan and Adrian need to be the focus right now.”
“So you’re trying to throw me to the side because of this lowlife?” she sneered, “They might be starring in your movie but that’s all. There’ll never be anything more than that going on between them.”
For some reason Adrian had expected Rowan to come to his rescue, instead he watched as Rose insulted him to his face.
It made something in his chest twist in pain.
But why would Rowan care? Especially when he had a pretty girl on his arm. Maybe Adrian would get a girlfriend, he could also play that game if Rowan wanted.
If Rose was a man, he would’ve already punched her in the face.
“I’ll have you refrain from verbally abusing anyone,” Daniel warned. “Rowan, is she coming with us?”
“Yes,” Rose answered at the same time Rowan said ‘no’. She gave Daniel a sickenly sweet smile, “As his fiancee, I have to make sure I support him to the best of my ability.”
