Chapter 260
Chapter 260
Alia POV
On the fifth call, someone finally picked up. I nervously swallowed and asked carefully: "Marco, is that you?"
"Madam, Mr. Vittorio hasn't woken up yet." It was still Giulio's voice on the phone.
This was Marco's private number, not his work number. Giulio answering once could be explained, but answering a second time - if I still believed what Giulio was saying, then my intelligence was definitely lacking.
I suddenly thought about the mole around Marco. Could this mole have done something to Marco?
Could this mole be Giulio, whom Marco trusted most?
Thinking of this, I took a deep breath, forced myself to stay calm, and said: "Giulio, where is Marco?"
My tone was very firm, as if I demanded an answer and absolutely wouldn't allow what happened last night - hanging up on me - to happen again.
"Madam, Mr. Vittorio..."
Before Giulio could finish, I interrupted: "If he's at a hotel, then tell me the hotel name and address. If he's not at a hotel, then tell me exactly where he is."
I spoke quickly and coldly, quite resembling Marco's usual business style, which made Giulio on the other end pause in surprise.
I continued: "Giulio, I am Marco's wife. Do you understand what those two words mean?"
After a moment of silence, Giulio's voice came again: "Madam, it's not that I don't want to tell you, but Mr. Vittorio told me not to tell you."
"What he told you not to tell me - is it classified information about Black Eagle? Or some unspeakable secret? If it's neither, then why can't you tell me? Is it because something happened to him and he doesn't want me to worry? If something happened to him and I can't be there to take care of him, wouldn't I worry even more?"
That foolish man Marco, how could he be so stupid? Why did he have to bear everything alone? Why couldn't he trust me just once?
My words made sense, and Giulio understood that Marco had them hide it from me because he didn't want me to worry. But I had already guessed that something had happened to Marco. If he still didn't tell me, that would go against Marco's original intention.
After thinking it over, just as Giulio was about to tell me, Luca suddenly grabbed the phone and hung up.
She said: "Giulio, the news of Mr. Vittorio's unconsciousness cannot get out. Once it does, the consequences would be unthinkable."
Giulio said: "She's not just anyone - she's Mr. Vittorio's wife, the mother of Mr. Vittorio's child."
Luca sneered: "Giulio, Mr. Vittorio is confused, but are you going to be confused along with him?"
Giulio asked displeasedly: "What do you mean?"
Luca continued: "The real wife died three years ago. The Vittorio family elders watched her body being cremated. Do you think someone who died three years ago can come back to life?"
Giulio asked: "Are you saying this wife is fake?"
Luca said: "I don't dare say she's fake, but I don't dare believe she's real either. Think about it - how did she come back? Did she really forget everything from the past, or is there something else going on?"
Hearing Luca say this, Giulio began to waver.
Perhaps when their Mr. Vittorio was unconscious and instructed them not to tell me, it wasn't because he didn't want me to worry - it was very likely because he had discovered something unusual.
Their Mr. Vittorio was always cautious in his actions, yet yesterday he suddenly ingested some substance that even doctors couldn't identify and collapsed.
The person who could unknowingly drug Mr. Vittorio and make him willingly consume it - the prime suspect would be me.
Seeing Giulio waver, Luca continued: "Didn't you say Mr. Vittorio told you not to tell his wife before he fell unconscious? If you tell her now, how will you explain it to Mr. Vittorio when he wakes up?"
Giulio stopped talking. No matter what, following his master's instructions couldn't be wrong.
Whether I was impersonating Alia or not, he didn't dare investigate. Everything would have to wait until their master woke up.
However, they didn't expect that I would still find my way there.
About an hour later, I appeared before them.
Seeing me appear, Luca's heart jumped in alarm. She quickly stood up to block me: "Miss Alisa, the doctor just examined Mr. Vittorio and instructed that no unimportant people should disturb Mr. Vittorio during this time, to let him rest well."
"You said unimportant people shouldn't disturb him. So get out of my way." I said this with force and authority, not allowing Luca to be arrogant in front of me.
I still remembered when Marco got sick shortly after we were married - Luca had blocked me then too.
Back then, my relationship with Marco wasn't very good yet, and I didn't understand him well enough. Luca could stop me then, but not today.
Luca was slightly stunned, and I had already walked around her toward the hospital room, saying as I walked: "Giulio, please have the attending physician come over. I need to understand the situation."
"Yes." Perhaps because he hadn't expected me to be so calm, Giulio unconsciously gained more respect for me.
Luca quietly clenched her fists, retreated to sit aside, and didn't dare say another word.
I didn't know if I had changed or if she had never truly understood me before, but she felt that this seemingly fragile woman's body contained enormous strength.
Perhaps she had underestimated me too much, thinking that as long as they didn't tell me, I would just hide at home worrying. She never expected that I would find the hospital so quickly.
The hospital room was luxurious, with a living room and bedroom.
Marco lay on the bed in the bedroom, lying quietly. Except for being paler than usual, his breathing and temperature were no different from normal, as if he was just sleeping, not unconscious.
Seeing Marco like this, my heart ached as if being cut by knives. My nose stung and I wanted to cry, but I tilted my head back and forced the tears back.
Marco was sick and had collapsed. At this moment, I was the pillar of support for Marco and Julia, so I couldn't cry, couldn't be weak.
I slowly sat down beside Marco's bed, took his hand and kissed the back of it gently, saying softly: "Marco, I know you're working hard alone, you're tired..."
A person spinning like a machine - even machines get tired after running too long, let alone a person of flesh and blood.
"If you want to rest, then rest for a few days. Leave everything else to me. Trust that I can handle it well. But you can't rest too long - I'm only giving you a week's vacation. Julia is still waiting for you to come home. She has a secret to tell you."
Sometimes I really wanted to scold him - why couldn't he think about himself more? He was sick, yet still had his subordinates hide it from me.
"Madam, Mr. Vittorio's attending physician is here."
