Chapter 42: Josiah

I was so stunned when I saw my wife walking down the stairs. She’s wearing a royal blue dress lined with sequins. Her hair is pulled in a clean low-bun that accentuates the perfect shape of her face.

She’s wearing light makeup but it seems like she’s ready to make up my whole world.

Eunice stopped in front of me with a narrowed look. “What?” she asked.

I grinned and shook my head before taking her hand on mine. “You look like you’re ready to take everyone’s breath away,” I told her.

She blushed at my words as we got into the car.

Tonight is the launch of the newest chain of pharmacies of Eunice’s dad. It’s a huge event and a lot of high-profiled businessmen are set to be there.

Flashes from the cameras welcomed us as we got out of the car. The valet immediately took my keys and I let him park my car.

“There are a lot of press people,” Eunice whispered as she slung her arm around mine.

I leaned to her ear. “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you,” and I will.

Her grip on my arm tightened as the press started to ask questions.

“Mr. Kim, are you married to Ms. Lee?”

“Why did you wed in private?”

“Is it true that you married for convenience?”

“Are you expecting a child?”

I stopped when I heard the last question but Eunice pulled me. I glared at all the reporters and cameramen but they were incessantly doing what they do best.

Security reached us and tried to control the reporters as Eunice and I walked towards the hall.

This is what I hate the most when it comes to parties like this. Every broadcast station seems to be invited to invade our privacy.

“Are you alright?” I asked Eunice as I cupped her face.

She looked at me and nodded. “I’m good,” she said as she smiled at me.

I sighed and brushed my thumb against her cheek. “Those reporters can get too invasive sometimes. You need to be tough,” I told her.

She nodded.

“Good, let’s go,” I laced my fingers with hers as the door to the hall opened. We entered and were greeted by a welcome call by the MC.

“Acknowledging the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Kim,” he announced, making everyone look at us.

I squeezed Eunice’s hand and started walking towards our parents who are looking so proud as they saw us together.

I looked at my mother who I fought with when I confronted her about the things she said to Hannah. I hated that she needed to meddle with my life like that but I guess, it doesn’t matter now because I am with Eunice.

My wife greeted our parents. I did the same thing.

“You look really good together,” Mom said.

Mrs. Lee nodded. “Are you getting along well?” she asked.

Eunice nodded.

“That’s good to know,” Dad said.

I snaked my arm around Eunice’s waist. Mom raised her brow at my move while Mrs. Lee smiled.

Mr. Lee sheepishly smiled. “Are we going to expect a grandchild soon?” he asked.

Eunice was immediately flustered at what her father said. Surely, we haven’t thought about it but when I remember how I made love with her last night, I can’t help but feel…hopeful.

I wasn’t the family type of guy but all thoughts about having a complete family emerged inside of me now with Eunice. I want to give her a good family. I want to give her a perfect family.

Dad laughed. “We should have grandchildren. I’m so excited,” he beamed and Mom just chortled at Dad’s excited tone.

I chuckled with them as I pulled Eunice’s waist close to mine. “We’ll work on that, Dad.”

Eunice looked at me, surprised at what I just told our parents. I just shrugged and kissed the top of her head. Damn, baby, I’d have lots of babies with you.

Our parents were apparently drowned into different business talks with our business partners making me and Eunice alone on our table. I pulled a chair for me and made her sit.

I placed my arm at the back rest of her chair as I got closer to her.

Eunice looked at me and frowned. “I want to graduate first before getting pregnant,” she announced.

I raised my brow. “Really?” I asked her in a teasing tone.

She rolled her eyes at me. “I want to graduate first,” she said in conviction.

I laughed and leaned closer to her ear, slightly kissing it. “Then, are we going to use condom next time, then?” I asked her in a husky voice.

Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped at what I just told her. She looked at me with a squinted look. “Josiah!” she scolded me.

I chuckled and placed a kiss on her cheek. Damn, I just couldn’t get enough of her.

“What?” I asked softly. “We’re married. And we made love last night…”

She groaned and hit my thigh. “Stop it,” she croaked.

I chuckled weakly. “Why, baby? Don’t you miss me inside you? Are you still sore?”

God, I love teasing her.

She glared at me and I just grinned wider. She’s blushing. I know what she’s thinking. She’s reminiscing what happened last night.

“Hmmm,” I breathed against her hair. “Maybe we can use different kinds of contraception next time.”

She looked at me, seemingly annoyed. “What are you saying?!” she asked in panic.

I pouted at her. “Baby, did you really think I will be able to control myself after what happened last night?”

Her eyes widened and I can see how she’s trying to suppress her expression. Cute.

I kissed her jaw. “I can’t think of anything else right now…aside from the image of you coming for me over and over—”

She hit my thigh really hard. I winced in pain but I was still laughing. Her reactions are so adorable! How can I even get enough of her annoyed look?

“Stop it!” she hissed with conviction.

I smirked and she bit her lip. “I don’t know how you’re doing this, but I am so crazy for you, my wife.”

It’s true. I am crazy for her. I have never felt these insanely strong emotions before but Eunice seems to have wrapped me around her finger so easily.

She stared at me with the face that would make me fall into my knees. I wonder how much longer will I have to feel so apologetic when she looks at me like this.

I have hurt her multiple times but this time, I will protect her with all my might.

Her phone vibrated and she immediately opened the message. She sighed hard as she read the message. I craned my neck to read the message and what I saw made me almost lose blood on my face.

Nanette: SeQret is coming. They are after you, Gemini.

She immediately closed the message and sighed. Her mood has definitely changed.

Damn. She is really Gemini. And she and her friends are part of a gang.

Astra, perhaps?

I hugged her waist and pulled her closer to me. “I’ll protect you at all times, baby…” I whispered to her and I felt her stiffen in my arms.

I kissed her temple. That’s right, baby. I’ll protect you at all costs. I swear to all the angels and saints in heaven.
