Chapter 48

"Not at all Aaryn, we will remain here as it is Josh's order."

"You don't understand... If he dies there is no point to any of this here! It's just bullshit."

"I think so too, or do you think I want to protect the wife of the man I love? Damn it Olivia, make it easy for me!"

"That's what I'm trying to do."

When I said that the door opened being kicked open, Hannah got into combat position at the same moment, and I was completely unprotected at that moment, the sword that Josh kept was on the other side of the room.

Petros came through the door, looking like the usual idiot, taking a deep breath and looking at me now with something resembling hatred.

"I knew he would protect you.

He said with the same arrogant tone as always.

"Leave me alone Petros, or did you come here to face me because you know Josh would rip your head off in combat?"

I said teasingly, spinning around him so I could reach the sword.

"Go away you filthy traitor, and I'll just take your life!"

Hannah said

They started a clash, and I was trying my best to open the damn box with the sword and couldn't. Hannah was struck in the face, and all I could grab was a small silver knife that Josh kept on the headboard. Which I held without giving away that it was in my hands.

"Was that your protector Olivia?"

He said smiling at Hannah passed out on the floor from the blow, and I remained motionless.

"I'm going to rip your belly open, and throw that demon hanging from a stake, for all the world to admire! Just seeing your t-shirt tighter, and your belly more bloated I feel like ripping your head off! How can you be so filthy?

I remained silent, I was waiting for him to attack me, for him to come at me, I could measure Petros, I knew all his weaknesses, he was now dealing with something beyond his reach. Totally.

I sat up in bed looking helpless, looking surrendered to his will, and when he finally approached me he licked my face, held both my hands so that I couldn't react, or get access to the knife I had hidden. I let him crow victory like a proud rooster, speaking against my ear some obscenities, and when I saw Hannah get up I signaled her not to come any closer.

This was about me, and it would end at my hands.

When he flinched, lowering his head to my breasts, sniffing me like an animal, I reached for the knife and the distance between that and my action of running the blade across his neck was exactly twenty-four seconds. And as he lay agonizingly on top of me, filling me with blood, I said

"I told you not to threaten my family, Petros! I warned you! Fuck!"

He still remained in agony, and I threw him to the ground.

"Come on Olivia!"

Hannah said anxiously.

"No, I won't make that mistake!"

I wanted to make sure he was dead before I left. But I couldn't, Hannah pulled me by the arms and I followed her.

"You Aaryns are sadists"

Hannah said pulling me along

"No, I am forewarned! Let's go soon, I need to go help Josh!"

"No way, he told me to run out of here with you, have you gone crazy? Let's go!"

"Hannah, go alone then! I'll stay and fight.... I owe it to Josh."

"What the fuck, huh? Fucking stubborn! Let's go!"

I walked through the halls looking in every corner for something pointy, I couldn't emerge in the middle of a battle just carrying my bad mood and my anxiety.

Hannah helped me, and as we entered the palace artifacts room I took a deep breath as I finally picked up a sword. It was going to be the old fashioned way

By the time I came out, everyone was already in the fray, and as the Lycans took up space on the battlefield it was all messy, too much gratuitous bloodshed because of an idiot like my father, how dare he? Filthy old man!

When someone approached to kidnap me or stop me I simply cut off their head, thrust my sword in mercilessly, I tried to reach Josh, he was lost in that sea of people. And that's when I saw Josh and my father battling up the hill, I ran to them, and nothing could stop me, I could only see them and nothing else.

I climbed up there with great difficulty, and I could hear the screams, mostly from Josh.

- Why don't you end it? You bastard! You killed my mother, you killed your daughter, and all for nothing! Your hatred is beyond measure!

"I'll never have any offspring like that in my family! Soiling our image!

"All this because my mother rejected you?"

I felt my stomach freeze at the same moment, there was still more.

Josh punched my father in the face, who fell to the ground. But when he saw me he looked deep into my eyes and too quickly held me in his arms, the hand on my head denoting his plan.

"Keep dog... If you do that I'll rip her head off!"

I had seen my father do this before, he had no difficulty. But what goes on in a person's head to make him capable of ripping his pregnant daughter's head off?

My father was capable, he had always been capable.

It was clear to me that the hatred my father had for the Lycans would never be something normal, and that even if I blamed the war for it, this fact would not be justified.

Josh knew once again more than he wanted to talk, and to hear from his mouth something like "my mother rejected you" hurt me, was it for this twisted reason that his mother died? Did she not give in to my father's whims?

I thought about that as he had his hands run over my head, threatening to kill me. While Josh negotiated so that he wouldn't, I had five minutes outside my body, I can't define it any clearer than that. Have you ever been through this? That was my moment, I thought a thousand times about how my death would be Josh's undoing and would mean nothing after all.

I opened my mouth to say more than whine to my father.

"Dad... You murdered my mother out of a prejudice or pride that you don't even have a decent argument to back up, you killed your grandson and who knows would be your greatest pride? Don't you see how idiotic this is after all? Damn it, you are an intelligent man!"

I felt his hands falter for an instant, and realized that talking to him would have a more dramatic effect than simply threatening him

Josh stood lurking with a spear in his hands he whirled in circles around my father who whirled around himself for protection.

I could see, in Josh's eyes the fear he had of losing me there, in that bad motherfucker way, but he remained stiffly impassive.
