CHAPTER 29. Part time job?

Paula nodded while blushing. "So, sir, do you have any good part-time job recommendations?"

Arthur raised his head and looked at the signboard of the restaurant in front of them. "We're already here. Let's eat first; let's talk about it after eating."

Paula could only nod and follow him into the restaurant.

She seemed a little distracted as she ate.

She kept thinking about the things that happened the last time she had lunch with Arthur.

That time, Mark only took a few moments. Before realizing they were eating together.

Would he know this time?

Would he call her and order someone to bring her back, like last time?

After finishing her scary meal, she still hadn't heard from Mark.

"Since you are studying nursing, I can recommend you to a sanatorium so that you can become a part-time nurse."

After eating, Arthur looked for his mobile phone. "I have some classmates who work at the sanatorium. There are many part-time nurses there, and the salary is not too small. However, your requirements may be a little higher."

"Since you can take good care of my mother, I think you will be quite capable."

As he spoke, Arthur called out to his classmates.

The classmate was also very happy to have a student like Paula working part-time. He immediately called Paula for an interview.

Under Arthur's direction. Paula took a taxi to the sanatorium and was interviewed for an hour.

Paula was able to answer many questions about the patients quite easily.

They both happily agreed on the salary and length of their shifts before immediately signing the part-time contract.

Paula officially started working there that very afternoon. She was busy until six in the evening.

"Mistress, why aren't you back yet?"

When it was almost seven o'clock, Kelley called Paula. "That Mr. Mark is waiting for you for dinner."

Paula looked at the clock. It was already seven o'clock, and she smiled guiltily at Kelley, who was on the other end of the line. "I was studying at the library, and I lost track of time. Sorry, I'm going back home now!"

Before she could finish her sentence, someone called her name. "Paula, the patient in room two hundred and three wants to take a walk; can you accompany him?"

Someone who spoke quite loudly.

Kelley was silent for a while. "Mum, are you really in the library?"

Paula felt a little guilty. "I'll be home in half an hour. Tell Mr. Mark not to wait for me; I've already had dinner."

After finishing her sentence, she ended the call without listening to what Lily said afterwards.

Putting down the phone, he immediately went to room 203 and took the patient for a walk.

There was an icy wind. Only then did he realize that he had broken out in a cold sweat.

It was then at Villa Swanlake.

The man in the wheelchair gracefully held a cup of coffee and took a sip. "Don't you know how to invent lies more plausibly?"

Kelley's phone call was at his command. "After she answered, Paula put on the speakerphone. Therefore, he could hear her voice and tone as she panicked and lied."

"Sir, that woman is being blackmailed, and she even found a job to earn money. Do you really want to ignore it?"

The butler, Mr. Conan next to him, asked respectfully.

The man placed the coffee cup on a saucer with an icy smile on his lips. "The reason she hid it from me is because she didn't want to tell me. Then why should I get involved?"

Mr. Conan still didn't understand. "But sir, she's still your wife. If she found a job outside, it would be dishonorable to you."

Mark smiled. His lips formed a sarcastic curve. "Since when do people honor me?"

An abandoned son who was discarded by the Aliston family. In the eyes of others, he had no honor or image.

No one but his grandfather attended his wedding.

"But..."

"It's not that I don't want to help him." Mark preceded Mr. Conan's words.

Mark changed his position to a comfortable one and leaned back in the wheelchair. "Hopefully she knows the proper way to get along with me as husband and wife. Then I will help her."

Mr. Conan was still confused after his words, but since the man in front of him had a gloomy and cold expression on his face, he knew it was better not to investigate further. "Sir, do you still want to wait for that woman? It's late; why don't you eat first?"

The man shook his head, and his thin lips parted for a single word. "I'll wait."

Half past seven was the time to go home from work, according to the sanatorium rules.

Based on the time, Paula estimated that she could still catch the last bus and arrive home before eight o'clock.

However, since it was her first day at work, the amount of work she had to complete was too much. In addition, she was not very familiar with her job. After a few delays, it was already very late.

After leaving the sanatorium, she took out her mobile phone and looked at the time. He almost fell to the ground.

It was already eight oclock, and the bus schedule was over. The sanatorium was on the outskirts of the city, so taxis rarely passed by.

She panicked as she waited by the roadside for a long time. She didn't even see a taxi.

Helpless, she could only use her mobile phone to search for carpools on the Internet.

At that moment, a white saloon car pulled up in front of him.

Arthur rolled down his window and looked at her with a smile on his face. "Get in the car. I'm taking you back."

Paula was very happy. She climbed into the back seat of the car with her backpack.

"Arthur. Why are you here?"

Arthur started the engine. "I came here to do an errand, and I saw you standing on the side of the road from afar. I thought no one would come looking for you, so I left."

Suddenly, Paula understood everything. Oh, sure, you're a friend of Leah, my leader."

He was able to get a job there because of Arthur's good relationship with Leah.

Otherwise, where could you find a part-time job that was so comfortable and paid so well?

"Arthur, are you here at the moment looking for Leah?" He asked softly and with a frown.

Leah was beautiful, competent, and intelligent. She seemed to be Arthur's ideal type.

The man holding the steering wheel froze. "It's not like that."

Later that evening, Leah Miller called to invite him to dinner, but he declined.

"I remember that you have to get off work at seven o'clock."

Actually, he went there to wait for her since seven o'clock.

"I'm new to the job, so I'm still not used to the tasks. So I came home a little late."

Paula smiled shyly. "Leah didn't ask me to work overtime, but I haven't finished my own work yet, so I'm late."

Arthur smiled. "I'm more or less familiar with the work here; if there is anything you don't understand, please feel free to contact me."

Paula nodded. "Thank you, Arthur."

After all these years, Arthur was still as gentle and kind as ever.

"After so many years of graduation, it would be a little strange if you still called me Arthur with respect. If you don't mind, you can tell me about yourself."

Arthur...

Addressing him so casually seemed too intimate.

Paula said no with her head. "I think I will still call you Arthur with respect. Once bigger, always bigger."

After finishing speaking, the atmosphere in the car stopped for a long time.

After a while, Arthur coughed softly. "Do you want to find a part-time job because you've been facing some difficulties lately? Is your husband irresponsible?"
