CHAPTER 28. It seems you really love him

Paula couldn't sleep well all night.

The next morning, she left the bedroom with two large circles under her eyes. She happened to bump into Mark, who had just come out of the study.

She yawned and greeted the man, whose eyes were covered with a piece of black silk. "Good morning."

Mark didn't answer her.

Paula walked a few more steps and suddenly turned around, as if she had just thought of something. "Wait, we are husband and wife, right?"

The man frowned. "What else could it be? You haven't considered me your husband all this time?"

"That's not what I meant; why didn't we sleep together last night?"

Paula frowned and thought about it. "You didn't come back to the room after coming home?"

The veins in the man's head throbbed, but he nodded. "I couldn't sleep last night."

The petite woman scratched her head and smiled awkwardly. "Neither did I."

After finishing speaking, she yawned once more. Naturally, she approached her husband and pushed the wheelchair to the private lift.

When they got off, she deftly carried it to the dining room table and placed a pair of chopsticks and breakfast in front of Mark.

If she hadn't yawned while doing all this, Mark would have thought she was completely full of energy.

"Did you not sleep well last night?"

Based on how she yawned nonstop, not to mention how different she was, even a blind man could tell.

Paula subconsciously nodded.

However, she realized that Mark couldn't see her nodding, so she said sadly, "I'm quite worried."

"Worried about what?"

"Worried about..."

Paula yawned and almost told him about Lucy. Fortunately, her brain was quick enough to shut her mouth. Her feelings told her not to tell Mark.

Isn't telling him that you're worried about money the same as asking for money?

Having said that, she smiled and yawned in front of him. "I'm worried about today's physics exam. I've always been bad at physics."

As she spoke, her eyelashes fluttered slightly. She didn't know where to put her eyes, not to panic.

Mark frowned and didn't bother her further. "Yes, you are so worried; why don't you study more?"

Paula pursed her lips and thought about it for a while. "Can I come back later after class?"

"Robert doesn't need to drive me. I'll go to the library to study and take the bus home. Do you think it's okay?"

In her opinion, the fact that Robert was her driver was actually more of a form of restriction and surveillance.

Mark narrowed his eyes. "No problem."

The little woman was relieved and gave him chopsticks with vigor. "Come on, eat."

Mark froze while holding the chopsticks. "I'm blind. Paula." Frowning and looking at him blankly.

"Feed me." The man's voice was deep and had a touch of arrogance.

Paula fell silent.

Before she tried to feed him, he could eat by himself, right?

When Paula finished serving Mark, Lucy called out to her once more before starting to wash the dishes.

"Paula, I'm in no hurry, but if you want me to keep your secret, you have to show me honesty and not forget to give me two thousand dollars, right?"

Lucy started talking about money as soon as she answered the phone.

Her tone sounded stronger than last night, which meant she was probably already thinking about it.

Paula pursed her lips and looked at Mark, who was listening to the news on the living room sofa. "Aunt Lucy, you're too impatient."

"I'm not free in the morning. I'll give it to you again in the afternoon. Don't worry, I'll keep my promise. I won't give you less than two thousand dollars. But if you don't keep it a secret, I won't give you a cent!"

Lucy snorted coldly. "If I don't get the money today, wait and see if I don't tell your mom!" I will definitely tell her that you married a blind and disabled man for her medication!"

This gave Paula a headache, and she rubbed her temples. "Where's the money I gave you yesterday? Did it run out right away? Just wait, I'll give it to you in the afternoon!"

She was an orphan adopted by her mother, while Lucy was actually the original family of Grandma Mayer.

But now she was threatening her mother's health.

Paula finally saw how cruel and indifferent humans could be.

It's a good thing that she didn't immediately give Mark all the money he gave her yesterday. That's right, the man gave her a lot of money just in case she needed it for her family.

After her morning class, she declined Charlotte's invitation for lunch and took the bus directly to Ken Hospital by herself.

Coincidentally, Ken's hospital was actually the same hospital where Arthur Smith and I had met earlier.

Paula enters the room while Lucy feeds Ken.

When Paula arrived, Lucy gave her an icy stare. "Wow, you're late. I thought you weren't coming."

Paula smiled. "I had a morning class, so I was a little busy."

Paula put the money she had just taken to the bank on the table. The two people looked at the money Paula gave them with sparkling eyes.

"I'm really lucky that you're now a rich man! Aunty loves you, Paula. Don't worry; your money will be put to good use. Your secret will also be safe."

After giving her the money, Paula had nothing more to say to Lucy. She quickly picked up her backpack and left.

Passing through the lobby downstairs, she happened to bump into Arthur, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.

"Paula!"

Arthur called out to her from afar.

At first, Paula prepared to avoid him, but since he had already called her name, she had no more chance.

Therefore, Paula could only greet him awkwardly. "Hello, what a coincidence to find you here."

Surprisingly, she met him every time she went to that hospital.

Arthur smiled and walked toward her. "You will definitely see me if you come to this hospital. It's not a coincidence."

"Last time we couldn't eat together, can I offer again this time?"

At first, Paula wanted to refuse him, but she remembered what he said before, so she finally nodded and agreed.

It was the middle of the day, and the restaurant near the hospital was full of people. It coincided with lunchtime.

So Arthur took Paula to a restaurant a little further away from the hospital.

The midday sun was strong, and Arthur was wise enough to buy an umbrella for Paula to take shelter under.

"This is very considerate."

Paula smiled, her heart full of mixed feelings.

Arthur chuckled softly. "It's my duty to take care of you."

The man's words made Paula blush.

"By the way, why are you here?"

Arthur's clear voice was like a stream of clean water in the summer. "Last time, you said that you were accompanying your friend, so what about this time?"

"This time I came to visit some relatives."

Paula and Arthur walked side by side under the umbrella. Her heart was beating fast. "Arthur."

"Yes?"

"I remember you saying that you made a lot of money doing part-time jobs while you were in college, right?"

That was also part of the reason she agreed to have lunch with Arthur.

"Would you like to find a part-time job?"

Arthur chuckled softly and rubbed his head. "You're still very hardworking."

Paula laughed as she lied, "I want to earn more for my tuition."

The man frowned slightly. "Do you still need to pay your own tuition fees? Is your husband not taking care of you?"

When he learned that Paula was getting married, he was amazed. After thinking about it for a while, he felt that it wasn't too bad to have someone with a family history who took care of him for so long.

But did she really need to pay for her own tuition?

Paula was stunned. She quickly shook her head. "It's not that he doesn't care about me."

"I just wanted to get the money to join the cooking class. I wanted to surprise him. I don't want her to know."

Only then did Arthur stop frowning.

He forced a laugh. "You seem to love her very much."
