CHAPTER 26. I will go without a wheelchair
Paula was silent at his words. He looked very hopeful when she said that.
Realizing that the conversation was getting sidetracked, Robert quickly took Neo away.
The door closed, and Paula blushed as she looked at Mark.
"Paula," the man's heavy voice had a serious tone, "as husband and wife, there is no such thing as 'owing' each other."
Paula nodded. "Of course. I won't talk about it anymore."
Mark rubbed his wife's forehead. "Don't talk about it, and don't think about it either."
"But I really owe you a favor!" It's something I can't possibly forget."
Seeing her naive look, Mark smiled. "You can return the favor with something else, which is almost the same."
"In what way?"
"You owe me a son. Give me a son."
Paula was silent.

In the afternoon, Paula, who had finished classes at her university, faintly heard a conversation about her.
"She seems like a nice girl; I didn't expect her to be so cheap."
"I already told you. How can she afford college if her family is poor? It turns out she's a mistress."
"This is embarrassing for our class. Today, the students from the neighboring college laughed at me. They said, There's a shameless woman in our class!"
People held nothing back about it. It all started with Claire, who saw Paula get into Mark's car with her own eyes a few days ago.
Claire narrowed her eyes and glanced at Paula when she entered the classroom. "Hey, sugar baby! What do you think about the rumors?"
Paula frowned. "Why are you saying I'm a sugar baby?"
Claire sneered, "What else is it? Why would a guy with a Maserati have a relationship with a skinny girl like you?"
"Most likely, it was an old man who wanted a change and wanted you for a while," she continued.
"Surely your sugar daddy is an ugly, fat, and bald old man!"
Her words were so offensive that Charlotte, who was by her side, couldn't take it anymore. "How dare you talk to her like that?"
Paula, who did not want to cause a scene with her other friends, decided to leave the university immediately.
She decided to go home just as Mark's black Maserati arrived at the end of the road leading to the university.
On the way home, she remained silent. Robert could only stare at Paula silently through the rear-view mirror.
As soon as the butler of the mansion saw Paula getting out of the car, he ordered Wolter to leave. He was afraid that Paula would see Wolter talking to Mark before she arrived at the mansion.
In the living room, a man with a black silk sheet over his eyes was sitting in a wheelchair, drinking a cup of tea.
As soon as he heard the sound of the entrance, the man spoke calmly. "Come here and try this year's new tea."
Paula pursed her lips and cautiously approached. She picked up the teacup and took a small sip.
"How are you?" The man's heavy voice sounded
Paula took another sip and said, "It's bad. I'm not used to this... I think it tastes like very concentrated water."
The man laughed. He took the cup of tea from her and poured another for himself. "You have something to tell me?"
Paula frowned. "You don't need to organize someone to take me ahead. I've already memorized the bus route. I only need to take two school buses to get home. It's very convenient."
Mark's lips moved slightly. "If I let you go home by bus, will your classmates stop talking about you?"
Paula was stunned. "You... do you know about this matter?"
She thought out loud. How could Mark know everything that happened to her? She really felt that, besides being able to do everything, Mark could also know anything so quickly.
Thinking about that, she could only glance at Mark a few times.
Originally, she thought she would only have to take care of a disabled man after she married him. But now, the situation was becoming more and more unpredictable.
Mark's lips twitched slightly. "Don't tell me you think because I'm blind, I don't know anything about the outside world."
The man's heavy voice had a hint of self-deprecation.
Paula squeezed his hand. "No, no!"
"I just want to know..."
"There's nothing to talk about," Mark replied.
Mark poured another cup of tea and took a sip. "You said you wanted to look after me, so I just paid you."
Paula was silent.
She wasn't even allowed to do some things with him. After all, he wasn't really taking care of her, was he?
"I'll go back to my room first." Mark nodded his head and let Paula return to their room.
Shortly after Paula arrived at her room, the woman who was about to put her body to sleep was surprised to hear the ringing of her mobile phone that was still in her bag.
Paula quickly picked up her mobile phone and looked to see who was calling her. Her eyebrows furrowed when she saw Aunt Lucy's name on the screen.
"When are you going to give me the money!? Your cousin needs to pay her medical bills immediately!"
Paula was surprised that she was suddenly attacked again by her shameless aunt. She tried to explain that she couldn't come that fast. She had just arrived home.
"I don't care about that! I'm going to tell your mom and expose your marriage to that disabled man!"
Paula was terrified. She was afraid that if her mom found out, it would make her even sicker.
"Don't do that! My mom has suffered enough, going in and out of the hospital just to heal herself!" Paula tried to plead with Lucy.
Lucy was pushing her hard at the moment. Even though Mark had given her the money, she still hadn't rested.
"Alright, I'll give you the money, but no more than thirty thousand dollars! If you tell anyone else about my marriage, then I will ask my husband to destroy you!"
Although he was only bluffing over the phone, it managed to make Paula emotional.
She quickly prepared the money and asked Mark for permission to go to the hospital. Mark was originally going to ask Robert to drive her, but Paula was too stubborn.
"I'll be back before nightfall! Don't worry, I'll go by taxi. I love you!"
The man in the wheelchair lifted his lips. He stared at his wife's quick steps from behind the curtain.
"Wolter, send someone to follow him!"
Mark could not interrogate Paula before leaving. He had some urgent business with his father. Yes, the man who had given her so much was her adoptive father.
He replaced her father, who had died a few years ago.
"Sir, tonight we will pick up Mr. George. We also have some agendas with the company commissioners." Wolter tried to remind Mark of the meeting agenda for tonight.
"I will go without a wheelchair tonight."
Robert and Wolter, who heard Mark's words, instantly stiffened.
