CHAPTER 22. Coward!

Because it was the best university in the town of Lourith, there were always some students whose entrances were blocked by their poor relatives asking for money.

However, it didn't occur to Paula that one day Aunt Lucy, who had no blood relation to her, would come to the university to look for her.

"Let's go out the back door."

Seeing Paula's surprised expression, Charlotte sighed. "I thought you wouldn't be ready, so I ran mainly to look for you."

"Claire posted this photo on a web forum. If you walk out of the main entrance and your aunt catches you, the whole university will know that you're the poor woman that a rich man has for a mistress."

A chill ran through her body at the thought.

Gossip was a scary things.

Although she never felt that marrying Mark was a shameful thing, she was used to an ordinary and quiet life. She didn't want to be the center of other people's gossip.

Taking a deep breath, Paula held the phone tightly in her hand. "Then let's go out the back door."

Lucy was a chatty troublemaker. Paula really didn't want to have much to do with her.

However, beyond Paula's imagination, Lucy's acquaintances would be waiting at the back door of the university to ambush her.

The university's back gate, which was not used much, had become overgrown.

Dragging Paula along, Charlotte had just come out of the back door when they were surrounded by several thugs guarding it.

"My mom guessed right. You actually came out of the back door." The gang leader had a sly look, and he smiled wickedly when he saw Paula.

"My cousin, it's been a long time since we met."

Seeing the man's sly appearance, Charlotte frowned slightly. "Who is he?"

Taking a deep breath, Paula said, "That's Ken Bates, Lucy's son."

Ken was three years older than Paula, but his academic results had always been so poor that he had to repeat his studies all this time. It wasn't until Paula took the college entrance exam that Ken was able to get accepted into a third-rate factory in Lourith City for slacking off.

Ever since he was young, he always had plans to hurt her, until one day he reached the peak of his cruelty.

If it weren't for his uncle arriving on time, he probably would have committed suicide on the spot.

Thinking back to the past, when she was bullied by Ken, a feeling of disgust arose from the bottom of Paula's heart.

Unconsciously, she took a few steps back. But Ken's men quickly surrounded her.

"Paula, you studied in Lourith City, but why didn't you ever come looking for me? If my mother hadn't asked me today where your university was, I wouldn't have known that my dear cousin was actually in the same city as me either!"

As she spoke, she sneered and moved closer to Paula. "We haven't seen each other for years. You've become more beautiful and voluptuous."

He glanced over, giving Charlotte goosebumps.

She got up her courage and stepped in front of Paula. "You have no right to be Paula's cousin. Disgusting!"

"Shh! Beautiful, you say such nasty words."

Ken, with a cigarette in his mouth, signaled to his friends to hold Charlotte back.

After that, he sneered, calling Paula, "Paula, come and let me have a good look at you."

Paula clenched her fists hard on each side of her body. Tense but ready to defend herself. Pursing her lips, she glared at Ken.

"Don't come near me!"

"What are you going to do?"

Ken smiled wickedly as he approached Paula.

A man behind Paula even grabbed her hand, forbidding her to dodge and hide from Ken.

Just as Ken's hapless body was about to approach Paula, something stopped him. In one motion, a sharp arrow directly hit Ken's right knee.

He was in so much pain that he staggered, kneeling on the ground on one leg. At the same time, there was another sound tearing through the air. At full speed, an arrow flew and buried itself in his left knee.

The sudden intervention shocked not only Paula and Charlotte. But also Ken and his friends.

While being helped by the people who were with him, Ken took out the arrow above his knee and looked around like a madman. "Who did this?"

"Filth! Who dares to meddle in my business?" Ken demanded to know.

The arrow in his hand was small and blue in color.

Paula frowned slightly. That morning, while tidying the nightstand, she saw such a dart in Mark's drawer.

At that moment, she picked one up to ask if it was his. But on second thought, he was blind. He couldn't even see his new bride's wife.

Hence, he did not ask about it so as not to bring up a painful topic.

Still, why did the arrow appear here? Did it get stuck in Ken's knee by chance?

"Get out, coward!" Ken shouted, challenging without knowing who.

Nothing emerged from the bushes. Ken then thought that it was a coward who ran off to hide in a dark corner. Hence, his words became much more ominous.

"Don't hide in the dark, coward! Are you a fucking chicken?"

The surroundings were silent for a few more seconds.

With another hiss, an arrow flew out and pierced Ken's chin. He was in so much pain that he shouted back.

"You have a dirty mouth. You deserve to be hit!" said a calm voice belonging to a young man.

Paula raised her head and subconsciously looked at the stranger.

Then she saw a young man in white clothes. He looked about twelve or thirteen years old and was calmly pushing a wheelchair.

The eyes of the man sitting in the wheelchair were covered with a piece of black silk, but he exuded a cold and piercing aura.

"A blind man and a child. How dare you act so arrogant?"

The man next to Ken sneered. "Boss, should we go after them?"

"Arrest them!" Ken ordered the arrest of the two of them.

They were about to hit the young man vigorously and beat the cripple until he was much worse off than now!

With that order, the group immediately rushed towards Mark.

Two minutes later, both Paula and Charlotte looked at the men, holding their heads and wailing on the ground.

"How come?!"

They hadn't even taken a good look at how the young man had done it, but he had knocked down more than a dozen men.

Ken gritted his teeth angrily. He took out his mobile phone and sent Lucy a text message while threatening Paula.

"Paula, just wait! I'll ask my mom to come see you now! We will not only demand compensation money from you but also pay for medical expenses!"

Charlotte pursed her lips. She then stepped forward to kick Ken's body. "You intimidate the weak, but you fear the strong. If you dare, go and demand payment for medical treatment from the person who hit you."

"That's how it is!" The young man scowled mockingly. He then waved his hand, indicating that he still wanted to hit Ken.

It had only been a few moments since Ken was still threatening Paula, but the next second, she fled in a sorry state, frantically trying to escape.

After they left, Paula exhaled deeply. Then she began to thank the young people.

The young man in the white tracksuit smiled at her. "Don't mention that. This is for my eldest brother."

"Eldest brother?"

Paula looked at Mark suspiciously.

A black Maserati was parked by the roadside.

Robert got out of the car, and while helping Mark into the car, he explained,

"This is Neo. He's the boy I picked up ten years ago. He is now thirteen years old. When he was young, he suffered from a serious illness. Therefore, he has anxiety and speaks in a clipped manner. Still, it is very well behaved. The master has accepted him as his younger brother."

As he spoke, Robert asked the young man to come closer, pointing towards Paula. "Neo, this is your sister-in-law."

Neo Aliston approached Paula respectfully. Then he said it with a smile.happy. "Nice to meet you!"
