Chapter 83 Back To The Vampire's Territory
Chapter 83 Back To The Vampire's Territory
Hazel
“What do you want to know?” I asked lord Ethan.
I didn't want to tell him the pregnancy was from a nightstand I had when I was forced to visit a club. I mean, why should I? When we are not even friends.
“Just answer my question,” his darkened voice rose.
I flipped my hair to the back and looked at him confidently. I wanted to sound so convinced with myself, as I knew vampires. He could find out I'm lying in just an instant, but I was just lucky this man right here can't even read my mind.
“The father is doing well abroad, so don't pry into what's not your business!” I spat at him.
He didn't push things further and only nodded his head.
I resumed walking, wanting to find my way back home.
Outside, everywhere was dark, and I was confused as to how I could make it work in this darkness.
A voice that rose beside me made my body shake because I was startled. I blinked my eyes and turned to where the sound came from, only to realize a man was sitting there.
The man whom I guessed to be the doctor who had treated me.
“You can't make it out of the woods tonight.” He said and stood up. “Except if you want to get eaten by a tiger,” he said.
He moved closer to me and made a terrifying sound that tigers make before he walked away.
My hand went to my chest as I tried to steady my startled breathing.
Another voice rose behind me, this one which I recognized. Ethan.
“So what will it be? Will you stay? Or will you get yourself killed in the woods?”
I wanted to give a response, but a figure walking towards us in the dark made me keep shut, looking so startled once again.
Turns out, it was Maverick.
“How did it go?” Ethan asked the moment he got to us.
“I searched everywhere but couldn't find any of them,” he reported.
Ethan only sighed and didn't say anything.
“Bring her inside,” he ordered before he turned.
I would have fought Maverick off me if I was really going to leave, but I had decided to give in as it was already dark.
There in the doctor's house, we spent the night.
The next day, I was the first to wake up after the owner of the hut. I moved out of the room where I had slept in and tiptoed towards the door, wanting to leave without the vampire lord knowing, but just as I reached the door, a hand held mine, getting me so shocked.
I snapped my gaze to the sides and realized that Ethan was holding me. I thought I was the only one awake?
“You don't get to leave until I want you to,” he said, talking like he holds the fucking rope to my neck.
“I'm leaving here, Ethan! You don't get to dictate what I do,” I spat angrily.
I wanted to move out after yanking his hands off me, but Maverick also appeared beside me.
“The boss says to wait a bit before we leave,” he said.
I took a deep breath as I was trying to keep my anger in check. “And I don't want to leave with both of you! I want to leave here alone!”
Ethan went back to the bed and took his seat, then closed his eyes like he was meditating and said nothing.
Maverick blocked my path with his frame. “I only take orders from the vampire lord,” he said.
Frustrated, I gave in and didn't fight it anymore because I knew there was no way I was going to win this.
Not when my legs and stomach still hurt from the slash I got yesterday.
The owner of the hut emerged from one of the corners and looked over at Ethan before he moved his gaze to us.
“I knew you were vampires,” he said.
No one responded, and he kept staring at everyone. After a while, Ethan's voice rose, his eyes still closed.
“Visit the vampire territory to get rewarded for your help.” He simply said, and the man bowed slightly before he walked out.
Ethan stood still like that for close to thirty minutes while I watched him as I stood.
When he opened his eyes, he moved to us. “Let's return,” he said, his gaze solely fixed on his bodyguard.
“Yes, my lord.”
I hadn't finished processing the moment when Maverick swept me off the ground, throwing me onto one arm.
I wanted to scream, but couldn't even part my lips to do it.
A wind blew through my face, and I realized that was lord Ethan sprinting. Maverick also did the same thing with me in his arms.
And damn! I was so scared that I wanted to scream my lungs out, but just couldn't.
I didn't know how long we sprinted for, but when he dropped me, I felt like throwing up, but still couldn't do that either.
I lifted my gaze and looked at my front. The huge barrier of the vampire territory was standing in front of me, the walls beautifully built with crimson.
“Let's go in,” Ethan said and led the way, sprinting into the invincibility again.
Maverick picked me up again and also sprinted. This time, I tried not to act scared, and it worked.
When he dropped me, we were already inside the place I presumed to be the vampire lord's estate because of how luxuriously designed it was.
The vampire lord walked inside, the surroundings looking bigger as we walked by.
Just right before we could get to the entrance of the house, a lady emerged. I recognized her as the lady from the president's party, Elaine.
She walked towards us, her gaze fixed on the vampire lord.
Everyone was forced to stop after the vampire lord stopped. I could see anger in Elaine's eyes, and at that moment, I recalled Ethan talking about some wedding.
He was going to wed her. And he missed the wedding. I didn't want to imagine how infuriated she was at the moment.
I wasn't even allowed to imagine, as she got to Ethan and landed a slap on his face, earning a slap from Maverick and me.
She didn't just slap the vampire lord.
“I should at least be able to do this to the man who stood me up on the day of our wedding,” she spat.
Ethan stared at her but said nothing.
“You made a fool of me, Ethan. You made me believe you were truly going to marry me!” She yelled.
“Vent all you want,” that was all the vampire lord told her.
She scoffed and ran her hands through her hair. “I hate you!” She spat, but to me, that sounded more like she loved him. So much so that she can't bring herself to hate him.
Her gaze snapped to me, and she noticed my presence after minutes of standing here. “You found her,” she smirked.
“So why is she here?” She faced Ethan.
“Don't mind her. She's no one important,” he said and walked into the mansion.
The fact that he referred to me as no one important wasn't supposed to hurt, but it did hurt more than a heart shattering into a million pieces.
