Chapter 27 MAKE ME PREGNANT

Chapter 27 MAKE ME PREGNANT
AT SEVEN-THIRTY that evening, I sat alone by the pool, wearing my pajamas and sipping warm milk while reading a book.

The night air was cool, the water shimmering under the garden lights.

I came there to clear my thoughts.

I still had two days of leave before returning to work, and honestly, I was beginning to feel embarrassed by how often life forced me to step away.

“Ath.”

The voice sent a chill down my spine.

Charl.

I lowered my book to the table and looked at him with practiced indifference.

“What?”

He took the seat across from me and studied my face as if searching for traces of the woman he used to know.

“What do you need?”

Instead of answering, he smiled.

That smile.

The one I once fell hopelessly in love with.

Now it stirred nothing.

“How are you?”

“Fine.”

His eyes lingered on the fading bruises and scars on my skin.

“You’re still beautiful,” he said softly. “Even with the scars.”

I gave him a flat look.

“Thank you. Now say what you came here to say.”

He exhaled heavily.

“You know Akisha’s condition.”

I rolled my eyes.

“If you’re here to tell me not to stress your wife, save your breath. Everyone has already given me the same lecture.”

I lifted my chin.

“Don’t worry. I won’t hurt your family again.”

“Good,” he said quietly. “I hope you mean that.”

“It was an accident. And she provoked me first.”

He hesitated.

“Was it because of what happened between us?”

I laughed bitterly.

“Don’t flatter yourself.”

I leaned back and crossed my arms.

“Your wife is affected because of Rare.”

Charl frowned.

“Rare?”

I smirked.

“In case you didn’t know, He was Akisha’s first love.”

The color drained from his face.

“First love…”

“You didn’t know?” I tilted my head mockingly. “That’s tragic.”

He stared into the distance, visibly shaken.

“I knew I wasn’t her first love,” he admitted. “But I didn’t know it was him.”

I laughed softly.

“Poor Charl. What if my sister still loves him? What would you do?”

He lifted his eyes to mine, and his expression turned unexpectedly serious.

“I don’t know.”

Then his voice dropped.

“But what if I told you I still love you?”

For a moment, the world seemed to go still.

Then I laughed.

A sharp, humorless sound.

“Love me?” I repeated. “That’s hilarious.”

My smile was brittle.

“You never loved me, Charl.”

He fell silent.

I stood and picked up my book.

“Oh, speechless now?”

I shook my head.

“Why ask a question when you know I’ll only destroy your answer?”

Before I could walk away, his voice stopped me.

“If you know Rare was your sister’s ex-boyfriend, why are you letting him court you? I thought you swore you’d never love anyone again.”

His eyes searched mine.

“Are you trying to get revenge? On your sister? On us?”

I froze.

Then I laughed without warmth.

“You know what’s funny?” I turned to face him, my voice trembling with anger. “That’s exactly what Akisha asked me.”

I pointed a finger at his chest.

“Am I not allowed to fall in love again?”

My eyes burned.

“Are you and my sister the only people entitled to happiness?”

The question hung heavily between us.

Charl’s face crumpled.

“Ath… I’m sorry.”

I shook my head and clutched my book tighter.

“Good night.”

As I walked away, I heard him whisper behind me, his voice ragged and full of regret.

“Fuck… I’m sorry. If only you knew.”

But I didn’t stop.

And this time, I didn’t look back.
