CHAPTER FIFTY SIX
CHELSEA POV
My body froze when I heard his words, his explanation of his meeting with Natalie but then why did he guess that, was it to clear his conscience or was he giving himself out because he saw me looking at them.
"Do not believe him Chelsea, you saw it for yourself, he is trying to play you," I thought to myself before looking at him.
I was not going to be deceived and unless he has proof, he should go away, even his proof can be fake sometimes.
But now, there was a problem, I so badly wanted to believe those words, I wanted to go and hug him, I couldn't tell if it was the pregnancy hormones or just an inside desire.
"Let's go," I demanded from him with a straight face, walking ahead of him. He didn't follow immediately, he seemed lost in thought, but it gave me enough time to breathe in and out, calming myself.
When I eventually saw him approaching, I pretended to be on my phone, not looking in his direction and funny enough, he didn't suspect a thing and I got away with that.
As he drove, I noticed something off, starting from his body signals and then his hands. He was leaning while driving, which was unusual coming from him.
And he was using two hands, the Liam I know could handle the wheels with just one hand and if it called for urgency, his hands would be positioned nine and three, exactly opposite each other.
But this time, he was heading to ten and four while holding the wheel. I had offered to drive on several occasions but he had refused.
Out of anger, I face the other side, biting my lips while regretting why I had cared in the first place.
Now that was my mistake, knowing he wasn't strong, I shouldn't have taken my eyes off him.
I slowly noticed we were tilting and the constant horn from annoying drivers made me realize Liam had passed out, or was slowly losing consciousness because at a time, his eyes opened.
With struggle, I was able to raise him up but not without putting us in a bigger problem.
We were speeding towards a truck and suddenly, as if planned, someone drove into us, pushing us to the extreme end of the road.
Their faces and who they were are unknown, still before I could hit anyway, Liam had woken up, pulling me close to him and supporting me tight enough, to secure me away from the bumps and reduce the impact of the crash on me.
When I looked, he had blanked out, his grip on me slowly lessened till he fell off. Slowly, I got out of the car, going to the car that had crashed into us.
It actually saved us and I was curious to see who. It hasn't been long since I got out, when someone pulled me to hug.
"Glad to see you are okay," A familiar voice called and I immediately accepted, having been able to recognize it.
I had a lot of words and questions to ask, I wanted to know how the person sensed me and came but the shock my body was put to, was slowly taking effect, slowly I was fighting to stay awake and just as if this person knew, he pulled my head closed, asking me to rest.
With a weak smile, I obeyed, resting on his shoulder, shutting my eyes close, knowing soon I will get to ask the questions.
When I opened my eyes again, I was in a room, a private ward with Liam, who still had stuck to him. Slowly, I went to him, wanting to examine him.
His fever was down and the injury was properly stitched and covered, I sighed when I saw that he was safe and then proceeded to leave the room..
Outside, it was heavily guarded, all bowing when they saw me. "I will inform him that you are awake," the head said, before leaving.
"Alright, but let me follow you," I offered, which he nodded without objection. Following him, we had barely gotten out of the elevator when we heard of the commotion going on upstairs.
"Liam," I muttered, rushing back in the elevator. It was not surprising that when I got up, Liam was wide awake, his hand clinging tight to a guard while pushing the other side as well as ignoring the doctor pleading for him to rest.
Even with the injury, he could still take them on. "Enough," I said, it wasn't loud but he still heard it, enough to stop him.
"Why are you repeating history?" I asked, annoyed. "What now, you fight them, have another injury, won't treat the injure, overwork yourself and forget the injury, it becomes infected, make me worried, make me drive you to the hospital and on our way, we crash again,"
"Maybe this time we die, would you be happy?" I screamed out in frustration, glaring at him which seemed to soften him.
"You are unhurt," Was the one that left his lips. "And you are bleeding?" I pointed out, looking at his back palm, knowing he must have yanked the IV out.
Everyone looked at me surprised, probably because I just yelled at him and I was alive. "Oh this," … "is nothing," I cut in. "Did you not hear anything I just said?" I yelled.
Rather than replying, he pulled me closer, him, hugging me. "I'm so glad you are okay," he muttered.
"Well, now you know you won't be driving me," I muttered, once he pulled away and he laughed.
"I heard you and I'm sorry," He apologies. "But then, how?" I asked. "He saved us," I replied.
"Who?" He asked but I didn't need to answer as he was already here. "I think the correct answer is, I meant to save her but unfortunately for me, I saved you," he said, walking out of the lift.
