Chapter 129

Mia's POV.

Despite the fact I didn't want to leave Adrian i still had to understand the facts of staying back could cause more harm to not only me but my baby . I was going to leave without Adrian's knowledge. I had promised to stay but this wasn't the time to beat around the bush.

Despite the fact that I earlier rejected the offer to leave with Sophia and Jake at the moment, I've realized there was truth in all they said.

Adrian had suffered all the past trauma caused by his father till this day. I wouldn't want the same for my son. Adrian might disagree that he's nothing close to his father but I know deep down that there's always a hint that he was from his father if not like him.

I packed a small bag and hid it beneath my bed. I knew Adrian was going to come and see me in the morning as he always did. I laid back on the bed when I heard footsteps cause I knew it was him.

My doors creaked open and I turned around to see who it was . Adrian, with a full face smiling. I smiled back at him even though I had plans of leaving him. He walked to the bed and i found myself jumping out of bed. He stared at me and I was even more embarrassed about the way i jumped out.

"Are you alright?"he asked and placed his hands on my hips and drew me closer to his body.

"I'm fine, I'm just happy today". I lied.

"He's probably the one more excited "he laughed and placed his hands on my stomach. He was genuinely happy about his baby. But still he was short sighted. His world could never be a safe place to raise the child.

"He is..he is"i said and held his hands. "I'm fine. Are you going out again "

"Yes. If you want me to stay i could"he offered.

"No no it's fine. I was only asking. I'm hungry too "I said trying to make conversation sound normal. Adrian always had his ways of sensing doubt in my words.

"I've asked Susan to make something for you. Sorry I couldn't make it myself"

"And did you make it yourself the last time?"i asked and he laughed.

"I'd be late for work if I keep talking and messing around with you " he said .

I smiled and embraced him, Maybe it was probably the last. He left me and immediately i picked up my phone to call Sophia.

I called both Sophia and Jake at once so we could orchestrate a plan to leave this place.

"Finally you're back to your senses"Sophia mocked me but this was certainly not the time.

"Is he out of the house?"Jake asked admist my back and forth with Sophia.

"He is..i feel guilty but I feel there's truth in all you said" i confessed.

"Get over him and come back to your senses "Sophia said.

"You have to do this for your child. Remember he has to be safe. Safe to see a new beginning "Jake spoke.

I knew he was mocking at Adrian's words. But all I really needed now was to leave this place.

"Once you're prepared to leave you'd use the front door. Do not make it seem like you're trying to be mysterious to leave. He has already given you freedom so this escape should be easy. " Jake said.

There was a knock on the door and I knew it was Susan with my food.

"I'm coming". I ran to the door and hurriedly took the food away from her. As i tried closing the door she held back.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine.. I'm just very hungry and I want to eat" i said and faked a smile.

"Ok... be good "she ordered like i was still a young girl. I smiled and closed the doors quickly.

I ended the call with Sophia and Jake and prepared myself to leave. I had the food in a rush and immediately proceeded to have my bath.

I wore a black trouser and a blue shirt. I didn't want to look or do too much. I carried my bag and left immediately.

"Good bye Adrian" i said before closing the door to my room.

I hurriedly used the stairs and on my way i met Susan looking at me. I really wished she didn't think i was leaving to anywhere. But she kept looking, i looked away and made my way through the front door and just before I could make my out Adrian grabbed me. I almost forgot how to breath for a second because now I was in a very bad position. I looked at him and watched how hurt he felt to see me leaving.

"You promised"he spoke softly.

"Adrian it's not what you think. You won't understand"I distressed.

"But you promised. You said you were not going to leave. I gave you freedom. You have your will but you promised me "Adrian spoke and leased me.

He was broken, but I still couldn't let him act like this and make me change my mind.

"What are you doing Mia. Is all of this a joke. Explain!"he shouted.

"This cannot work out Adrian it's obvious it can't. We cannot raise our son like this. No matter the change. The new beginning might even be worse than the last ".

He felt betrayed, he looked at me amazed by my own words. But it was the truth. He was too blind to see it . Clouded by his poor judgment of placing things. Everything wouldn't go smoothly for sure. It was a pure waste of time to continue arguing. I knew he was ready to be the father he never was but not under such conditions. The Mafia world was just a vile place for me to raise my son. I hoped he'd understand
