Chapter 127

Mia's POV

Sophia left after trying so hard to convince me to leave. I had bulged about Adrian not protecting me. He would do anything to protect me and my child.

Briefly before Sophia left after the long conversation we had , i watched her leave the house angrily. It was normal for her to be all worried but I knew i was going to be safe. I'd call her later in the day.

I used the opportunity to have my bath. I locked my doors and went straight to shower. I stood still as the shower rained water all over my body. I was deep in thoughts and almost forgot why I was in the shower.

Was there really anything like having a better Mafia world? Or did he just give me my freedom for the mean time. Or maybe after having his baby he'd treat me as nothing. .

No Adrian couldn't be like that. I hated how I was doubting his words after all he had promised. This wasn't the right time to feel unsafe. It was time to support him. To help him build from scratch and to make things right with ourselves this time.

I cleansed myself so hard hoping the doubt i felt would all be washed up. I dried myself up and sat in front of the mirror to do my hair. It was getting tiring these days to find a style for my hair. Usually I always wrapped it up and used a cap to cover up the mess. It was barely a stress for me with the cap on but now I had to fix it up. Adrian had specifically asked that I stopped working.

I tied the hair in a ponytail and did nothing more to it even though the back was visibly scattered. I wore green loosed fitting gown. It was an oversized dress but I liked how the color matched and lightened up my skin. I admired myself more and for a moment I was extremely sure that the pregnancy looked good on me.

I arranged my bed again because I knew I would get tired in no time and sleep off. But firstly I had to take a walk. I had been indoors the entire morning. I sprayed some scented body oil on my neck and hands. It gave a mild scent which i preffered to wear.

Just as i was about leaving there was knock on the door..

"Mia... Mia. ". It was Susan our chief maid. i quickly walked to the door and opened it. She wore a stressed out look but didn't entirely seem to hate the fact that I was no longer in the kitchen.

"How are you feeling?"she asked me.

"I'm doing fine... thank you"i replied.

"Take care of yourself now that you are resting. Have you had anything to eat".

"Yes Yes I have ".

"Alright good. You have guests downstairs. Your brother and another lady I'm assuming to be your mother "she said sharply.

"Step mother "i corrected.

"But she's still your mother. They are waiting so you should come see them immediately" she said.

"I'm on my way " .

"And one more thing Mia...be sure to rest. You have all the time too "she smiled and left.

I wore a pair of sandals on my feet and went out to see My mother and brother.

Jake would be so worried but I'm sure seeing me alive would make him panick less.

"Mia!"he called out and embraced me tightly.

"Mother"i called as Jake let me go.

"Mia pack your things. We cannot let you stay here any longer"she said. "You're lucky enough to be alive. We cannot risk your own life again" she was teary.

"We heard everything that happened. How you were abducted. We're so glad you're safe. We need you to pack up. We cannot risk your life and the baby's ".

"But I'm fine and I don't want to leave. Adrian is protecting me from any harm. he will keep me safe "

"What rubbish do you speak of Mia. Aren't you tired of living with a man that has been controlling you all this time. He put your life in danger and you still wish to stay!" Jake hollered angrily.

"And he saved me. Adrian rescued me Jake. He's not evil or mean. And it wasn't his fault that I got abducted " I said.

"Mia...." mother wanted to speak but Jake interfered.

"No Mom leave this to me. Mia, Adrian doesn't have the capacity to keep you alive forever. He has too much trouble that I'm not sure you'd survive the next attempt to end his reign. Please go and bring your things so we can leave."

"No Jake, I'm not leaving him just like that. Adrian is already rebuilding all that he has lost because of alexxie . I can't just leave. "

"Stop being stubborn and think about this. If you should be involved in all of this, this Mafia world you think is safe. There's no such thing as safety in a Mafia world. It's always blood for blood. Pick yourself up and move past this. "

I was silent for a minute. I looked at mother he looked like she could go on her knees and beg me to leave now. But this wasn't the point. I had to stay, i just had to.

"I'm not...i can't leave now. It's just not the right way to leave. I'm not going to run away from him now that he's ready to change."

"He cannot change "Jake stated"there's always going to be war and somebody might die. I just don't want it to be you. At least if not for any reason at all think of your baby. Terminating his life before he is being born is way worse to me."

"He won't die. And I'm not leaving. I'm sorry but I'm going to be pretty stubborn this time around ," I said.
