Bella's POV.
As soon as I asked him, he decided to step back and shake his head in 'no.' I felt offended for some reason because I definitely remember blonde hair and his blue eyes... Not sure about his face design though. Oh, now I have started sounding like an artist who describes faces in a very peculiar way.
"Oh, that distracted me," I scolded myself for zoning out in the middle of serious talk, pregnancy things. I looked at the bodyguard, and oh my god my neck hurts.
'Just why are men so tall, are they tree or something?' I thought to myself before resisting,"But I remember seeing you there. Are you lying to me? Should I report you to your Lieutenant General?"
"OK, fine," he sighed in the end. "I mistakenly entered inside your resting room but I left as soon as I realized Lieutenant General was not there."
"Hmm."
I nodded and didn't ask any further. It might be my imagination, otherwise why would a bodyguard sit next to me in the hospital room and hold my hand in his? And from his attitude, I can say he's being truthful.
Without much delay, I showed them inside the villa and to the rooms where they'd be staying. However I became curious to see their faces but it might be awkward to ask them to take off their masks from their mouths.
Suppressing my curiosity, I returned to my bedroom while the bodyguards followed me and stood outside my door. Confused, I asked, "Aren't you guys tired? You should get some rest and–"
"Protecting you is our first priority, Miss Bella."
"But, it will only cause health issues for you guys," I expressed my concern.
The bodyguards shared a glance at each other before saying, "Alright, we will take turns guarding you. Mistake, you go and rest first."
The blonde bodyguard, who goes by code name Saint asked the redhead guy. The guy obeyed without much drama while Saint stayed. I smiled at him for keeping my word and walked inside my room. But I didn't lock my room, I was still traumatized by what that bastard Lucifer did to me.
I may be smiling but believe me I'm scared deep inside. I was not even angry... It has become scary. With such thoughts I flopped in my bed and closed my eyes.
Time passed by, I became familiar with Saint and Mistake. Having them as bodyguards in the villa made me somehow feel safe. Since that day, no intruders or anyone associated with Lucifer broke into the villa.
At first I thought Saint was cold, but he was a strangely warm man. He went shopping with me for my unborn child and even gave me a very beautiful scarf.
For some reason, Saint appeared more like my older brother. The care in his blue eyes reminded me of my brother, Olivier. Sometimes I mistakenly called him brother and later realized that my brother is no longer in this world.
Two months have passed, and I am now in my ninth month of pregnancy. Walking around has been trouble for me lately, the maids used to help me walk and shower.
Helene also used to visit me occasionally, damn girl got scared last time. Now she never misses calling me in the evening to be sure everything is fine with me.
"But, my parents never contacted me in these months, nor did I care to call them. Nothing good will happen if I tell them I'm pregnant," I mumbled annoyingly to myself and continued reading the manhwas.
"Miss, someone wants to visit you," Mistake reported from outside.
"Who is it?"
"They're actually two people. One is a woman and the other is a man. What should I do? Saint is out for grocery shopping!"
"Let them inside," I said. " But make sure they do not enter my room. Can you do that because they are trained assassins!"
"Don't worry Miss, I rank second in Shadow military in combat after Saint. Rest assured I will knock them off if they try something," saying that Mistake strides out and brings the guests.
They were no other than Maria and Victor, I had known that they would chase me down after getting a report of Lucifer's arrest.
There are afew rules in the Mafia world, one of one is ' The enemy of my colleague is also my enemy.'
So now I'm kind of an enemy to Maria and Victor because they never greeted me or anything. Instead directly asked about Lucifer's whereabouts.
Turning me away I replied indifferently, "He's in custody of the Shadow military. Go look for him there."
"Boss, how could you do that to Lucifer? His only fault was that he admired you and wished to live with you..."
"Maria?" I reacted, I couldn't believe she was the one to talk about admiring or love. I glanced at Victor who stood coldly behind her.
"Boss, have him released so that we can all work together. I know you really don't care about people's affection but please he's your man," Maria continued blurting out words which I despised.
The audacity of her to ask me to have Lucifer released from Jail. He sexually assaulted me and tried to r@pe! He can't be forgiven!!
Seeing me quiet, Maria furrowed her brows together and snorted coldly, "You are not planning on playing dumb, right? I'm expecting an answer!"
When she said that I lost my temper. "Yyou do not order me. Stay within your limits before I cut off your tongue!"
"See? I told you this bitch is very stubborn. She doesn't yield no matter how bad her condition is," Victor interrupted, " I was not surprised anymore. " Maria, just get to the deal and get rid of this useless piece of trash who once ruled her over."
"You are right," Maria smirked at me with her evil eyes fixed on my baby bump. "I have always wanted to mess with her stunningly gorgeous looking face which she uses to seduce men."
'Wow, so this is what they actually thought about me. I don't know if I should be laughing or feeling sad because I considered Maria as my closest colleague,' I thought as I gazed at their disgusting smiling faces.
Maria takes out her daggers and before I could react, she leaped at me with speed known to me. As expected from my shadow assassin who was in charge of protecting me in the past. Something crossed my mind at that moment... My dad never contacted me but they know my place of hiding. And why Maria and Victor were not surprised by my pregnancy?
I glanced at Maria and asked," Did Lucifer tell you about my pregnancy?"
She paused and started laughing, "Yes, he did. Actually he texted the chairman about your every move. And we are here to kill the child you are carrying in your womb as per the chairman's order!"
"So it was Dad's order? Lucifer, including you all guys, were never solely loyal to me. I should have–"
"Miss Bella, the chairman, is paying us. You are just his pawn which he doesn't require anymore," Victor said, stopping me in the middle.
"Well who would want to be associated with a criminal who murdered her husband?" Maria taunted me, and laughed right after.
Tears welled up in my eyes. I was trying hard to forget about Caspar but I guess his memories will stay with me until the day I die. A sad smile pulled up on my lips as I thought of my dad.
He made me complete his revenge and now wants to discard me when I'm not used to him. Was his affection for me fake? Is that why Dad never bothered to care for whatever I did?
I see, everything was falling into its place. I was never his daughter but a pawn. Now that I disobeyed him, conceived his enemy's grandchild and ran away from his clutches, he wants me dead!
"Are you shocked?" Maria and Victor asked, still laughing at my suffering.
"Very well," I said as I pulled my robe up exposing my thighs and took out my Glock pistol. "I shall see you in hell as I'm going to become a real criminal."
I fired at Maria and Victor, emptying all the bullets in their bodies. Mistake arrived and looking at the blood-covered bodies he sighed.
"Miss, you should have just asked me. I would have given them a dreadful death."
"Thank you for your consideration but I wanted to end their pathetic lives with my own hands."
Throwing the gun on the floor, I called Mistake closer. "You must burn their bodies because their colleagues will be coming for revenge. Also make sure to keep this secret from John. I'll tell him when the right time comes."
The maids who arrived with the tea saw the mess and calmly apologized for the disturbance. Living with me they have understood that I'm not your average woman. They quietly dragged the bodies out of my sight and a few of them started cleaning the blood off from the marble floor.
That very moment Saint hurried inside and panting profusely he asked, "Miss Bella, are you alright? Did they hurt you?"
"I'm good but I think you are not. Breathe slowly and then speak."
He didn't listen to me and turning back at Mistake he growled, "How careless of you to let them get close to Bella? Do you understand how dangerous it would have been?"
"I-I–"
"You surely aren't going to ask for forgiveness, right? Because your apology cannot provide her safety. My gosh, if I had not given her a pistol, what would have happened to her?"
Saint was right but isn't he going overboard? Sir Mistake already assured me that he was going to protect me. However, I'm scared to get in between these two men's fights.
Ugh!
"What happened?" Saint panicked, and I too fell on the floor, holding my belly.
"The baby... The baby, it's coming out I think..."
