Chapter 45: The Plan Starts to Spiral
Chapter 45: The Plan Starts to Spiral
Mia's POV
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.
My heart raced with both nervousness and a flicker of hope.
Fiona's plan seemed to be working.
I pressed on, confessing my "love" to Gavin over the phone.
"Gavin, I know that in your heart I might just be an insignificant mistress."
"But to me, you're the most important person in my life."
"I love you, Gavin."
"So even if it's just as a bridesmaid, watching you walk toward happiness with someone else from afar, I'm willing to do it."
After saying all this, I felt sick to my stomach.
But to make him feel annoyed enough to let me go, I had to keep up the act.
Gavin chuckled softly, his tone teasing. "Is that so? If I'm that important to you, does that mean you'll agree to anything I ask?"
My heart sank, wondering what he was planning.
But I forced myself to answer. "Yes, Gavin. Whatever you ask, I'll agree to it."
"I miss you so much right now," I continued. "You're all I can think about. I wish I could see you this instant."
"What a shame," his voice carried a hint of regret. "Not now."
"Why not?" I asked, feigning disappointment.
"Because tonight I'm having dinner with Eva and the Bell family to discuss details about the engagement."
My mind went blank for a moment.
I forced myself to ignore the pain in my heart and continued playing the role of someone deeply in love with him.
"It's okay, I'll wait for you." I forced a bitter smile. "I'll be good and wait for you at home."
Gavin seemed satisfied with my current attitude.
"Good," he said. "Then make sure you shower and put on that lingerie I like, and wait for me in bed."
Hearing the dial tone, I frowned deeply, feeling like this plan wasn't working on Gavin at all.
Not only did he not find me annoying, he seemed to enjoy my compliance and dependence.
"The plan failed, Fiona," I said dejectedly. "He seems to be enjoying it. He doesn't find me troublesome at all."
But Fiona disagreed. "I think Gavin deliberately mentioned Eva just now to remind you of your place, to stop you from getting any ideas."
"It's a warning, which means he's already starting to feel the pressure from your 'love.'"
I murmured, "Really?"
Thinking about it, Fiona seemed to have a point.
A man like Gavin hated losing control most of all.
"So... what should I do next?" I asked.
"Keep acting," Fiona said. "Since he told you to wait for him, then wait. But you need to act even more in love with him, even more unable to live without him."
"Only then will he feel troubled and pressured."
A man like Gavin might truly need more intense "affection" to feel annoyed.
Since I'd already started, there was no point in giving up halfway.
I decided to try once more.
After shopping with Fiona a bit longer, considering I'd need to deal with Gavin later, we parted ways.
When I returned to the villa, Peggy was sitting on the living room carpet playing with the nanny.
I spent the rest of the time playing with Peggy until she fell asleep.
Back in the bedroom, after showering, I stood in front of the closet hesitating.
Finally, I put on the lingerie Gavin liked best.
A black lace slip dress with barely any fabric, only covering the essential parts.
That evening, Gavin came home.
He seemed to have had quite a bit to drink, carrying a strong smell of alcohol.
Seeing me in this outfit, the desire in his eyes ignited instantly.
He picked me up and threw me onto the bed.
I wrapped myself around him, actively kissing his lips, my tongue prying open his teeth and swallowing the lingering taste of alcohol in his mouth.
While kissing him, I rubbed my legs against his already hard cock.
"Gavin... I missed you so much..."
I worked hard to please him, using every trick I knew.
We went from the bedroom all the way to the bathroom.
The cool tiles pressed against my burning back, sending shivers through me.
Gavin lifted one of my legs high, hooking it in his arm, thrusting hard into me from behind.
I gripped the edge of the sink tightly, barely steadying myself.
Finally, we did it once more on the sofa.
It wasn't until nearly dawn, after he'd used up an entire box of condoms, that he held me and fell into a deep sleep.
The next day when I woke up, Gavin was sitting on the edge of the bed getting dressed, apparently preparing to go out.
Remembering Fiona's plan, I immediately crawled out of bed and hugged him from behind.
"Gavin, don't go." I pressed my face against his back. "Stay with me a little longer, okay?"
His hands paused while buttoning his shirt. He turned around, grabbed my chin, and raised an eyebrow.
"What? Wasn't last night enough for you?"
I shook my head. "No, I just... want you to spend more time with me."
"But I have things to take care of right now," he said.
"Then take me with you," I rubbed my soft body against him. "I promise I won't disturb you. I'll just stay quietly by your side, okay?"
I even actively kissed the corner of his mouth.
Gavin looked at me, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes.
"Alright," he nodded. "Since you want to follow me so badly, come along."
I hadn't expected him to agree so easily.
An uneasy feeling rose in my heart. I had a sense he was up to no good.
But having already said it, I couldn't back out now.
I quickly got up, washed, changed clothes, and left with Gavin.
Throughout the ride, I had no idea where Gavin was taking me.
The car didn't head toward Adams Group, nor toward any place I recognized.
Watching the unfamiliar scenery fly past the window, I somewhat regretted overacting this morning.
I secretly glanced at Gavin beside me. His eyes were closed as if resting, his face revealing no emotion.
The car sped along and finally stopped in front of an estate.
Gavin opened the car door. "Get out."
I followed him out, looking at this luxurious yet unfamiliar estate, my heart full of confusion.
Why had he brought me here?
Gavin led me into the living room. I saw a woman sitting on the sofa, elegant and well-maintained, with features somewhat similar to Gavin's.
"Oh no, this can't be..." I murmured.
My hands and feet turned cold, my breathing slowed, my brain seemingly stopped thinking.
How could he have brought me to meet his mother?!
