Chapter 87 Close Friend?
Chapter 87 Close Friend?
Evelyn stood at the top of the grand staircase, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She wore a beautiful pink dress that flowed elegantly around her, making her feel like a princess.
She was beautiful and the pregnancy made her look even more gorgeous.
The venue was buzzing with activity as everyone made the final preparations for Kylie’s wedding. The scent of fresh flowers mingled with the soft notes of classical music playing in the background.
As Evelyn made her way down the staircase, she couldn’t help but smile at the joyous atmosphere.
Just as she reached the middle step, her foot slipped on the edge of her dress, and she lost her balance.
Her heart raced as she felt herself falling.
Before she could hit the ground, a strong hand caught her, steadying her with surprising ease.
Evelyn looked up, her eyes meeting those of a tall, handsome man. He had an air of confidence and charisma that made him stand out from the crowd.
“Are you alright?”
he asked, his voice deep and soothing.
Evelyn nodded, her cheeks flushing slightly.
“Yes, thank you. That could have been a disaster.”
He smiled, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
“I’m glad I was here to catch you. My name’s Dylan.”
“Evelyn,”
she replied, still a bit breathless from the fall.
“Thank you, Dylan. I’m really grateful.”
“It’s my pleasure,”
Dylan said, his gaze lingering on her.
“You look stunning, by the way.”
Evelyn blushed, feeling a flutter in her stomach.
“Thank you. It’s my sister’s wedding, so I had to look my best.”
Dylan chuckled.
“Well, you certainly do. How about we get you away from these treacherous stairs and somewhere safer?”
Evelyn laughed, feeling more at ease.
“That sounds like a good idea.”
As they walked together, Dylan kept the conversation light and engaging. He was charming and witty, making her laugh with his stories.
After a while, he turned to her with a thoughtful expression.
“I know this might be a bit sudden, but would you like to join me for a friendly dinner sometime? I’d love to get to know you better,”
Dylan said, his eyes twinkling with genuine interest.
Evelyn hesitated for a moment. Couldn’t he see she was pregnant.
“ i know you’re pregnant but i also know you’re single “
“ how- “
“ your sister. Just a friendly dinner “
A chuckle escaped her lips and she then smiled.
“I’d like that. Thank you for the invitation.”
They exchanged contact information, and Dylan smiled. Evelyn found herself enjoying dylan’s company immensely.
They talked about everything from their favorite books to their most embarrassing moments, their conversation flowing effortlessly.
Evelyn felt a sense of excitement and hope that she hadn’t experienced in a long time.
As she said goodbye to Dylan , she couldn’t help but feel grateful for the unexpected turn of events that had brought him into her life.

Evelyn was standing near the staircase, her hand gently resting on her rounded belly as she took in the beautiful scene around her.
The decorations were perfect, and the joy in the air was palpable. She felt a gentle tap on her shoulder and turned to see her father smiling at her.
“Dad,”
she said warmly,
“it’s all so beautiful.”
“It is,”
he agreed, his eyes twinkling.
“Come on, I want to introduce you to someone.”
He took her arm and led her through the crowd, weaving between groups of laughing guests.
They approached a group of people near the main table, and Evelyn saw a tall, handsome man turn to greet them.
His smile was warm and inviting.
She recognized him.
Her brother in law.
Kylie’s husband.
“Evelyn, this is Caleb,”
her father said, gesturing to the man.
“Caleb, this is Evelyn, my daughter.”
Caleb extended his hand with a grin.
“It’s great to finally meet you, Evelyn. I’ve heard so much about you.”
Evelyn shook his hand, feeling an instant connection.
“All good things, I hope.”
“Mostly,”
Caleb said with a playful wink.
“But I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.”
Evelyn laughed, enjoying his easygoing nature.
“I’ll try not to disappoint then.”
They moved to the table and took their seats, the conversation flowing naturally. Caleb’s charm and humor made Evelyn feel at ease, and soon they were bantering back and forth like old friends.
“So, Caleb,”
Evelyn began, a mischievous glint in her eye,
“Kylie tells me you’re quite the chef. Is it true that you once set the kitchen on fire trying to impress her?”
Caleb chuckled, shaking his head.
“I knew that story would come back to haunt me. In my defense, it was a very small fire.”
“Small or not, I heard you had to call the fire department,”
Evelyn teased, her eyes sparkling with laughter.
“Alright, alright,”
Caleb admitted, holding up his hands in surrender.
“It may have been a little bigger than I anticipated. But hey, I’ve learned a lot since then. My cooking is actually quite impressive now.”
Evelyn leaned in, grinning.
“I’ll believe it when I taste it. Maybe you can prove it with a family dinner sometime.”
Caleb’s eyes twinkled with amusement.
“Challenge accepted. But be warned, my lasagna is legendary.”
Evelyn laughed, feeling a warmth spread through her.
“I’ll hold you to that, Caleb. Just no more fires, okay?”
“I promise,” he said, still chuckling. “No more fires.”
Their conversation continued, filled with lighthearted teasing and genuine connection. Evelyn felt a sense of belonging and happiness that she hadn’t felt in a long time.
Caleb’s easy laughter and kind demeanor were a balm to her soul, and she found herself relaxing and enjoying the evening more than she had expected.
Before she could go and greet other guests , Caleb’s voice stopped her making her turn around.
“ Evelyn “
“ yes ? “
“ i am in no place to have this conversation ……… about your husband. I know your younger brother has been there for you but now you have me , as your older brother. “
“ you can always call me in need “
A wide smile appeared on her lips as she jokingly winked at him.
“ then ill call you whenever i want , brother “
He chuckled and she walked to her family leaving the new couple to have their space but on her way , she bumped into Dylan.
"Dylan! Fancy meeting you here,"
she said, unable to hide her smile as he fell into step beside her.
“ seems like you forgot me “
A laugh escaped Evelyn’s lips as she shook her head.
“ just kidding “
" damn it, i was scared to death “ he replied with a wink, causing Evelyn to laugh softly. His easy banter and warm demeanor were infectious, easing away the stresses of the day.
Their conversation flowed effortlessly as they walked, Dylan occasionally teasing her about her latest misadventures and Evelyn playfully retorting.
Just as Evelyn was about to share a particularly funny incident from work, a familiar voice called out from behind her. " Evelyn "
Startled, she turned to see her father, Dominic, standing, a mixture of surprise and amusement on his face.
Evelyn's cheeks flushed as she realized her father had witnessed Dylan's playful flirting and her own unguarded laughter.
"Dad!"
she exclaimed, trying to compose herself while Dylan chuckled beside her.
"What are you doing here?"
Her dad raised an eyebrow, his expression amused but fond.
Evelyn shot Dylan an apologetic look, silently cursing her luck. Dylan, however, took it in stride, extending a hand to Dominic with a friendly smile.
"I'm Dylan. We met today. Your daughter here was just regaling me with tales of her heroics."
Her dad shook Dylan's hand, his smile widening.
"Ah, yes. Evelyn's heroics are quite the spectacle,"
he said with a knowing look at Evelyn, who rolled her eyes playfully.
“ your daughter isn’t being careful. She literally tripped a while ago from stairs but luckily i was there “
Evelyn’s heart dropped as she glared at Dylan.
“ Evelyn ! “
She could hear her father’s loud voice and behind her stood her family.
“ Dylan “
Kacy smiled and greeted Dylan who smiled and shook hands.
“ Guys , he’s Dylan. My close friend “
The fuck?
Close friend.
