Chapter 123 Sign?

Chapter 123 Sign?
I looked at Angelo as he entered through the main door, holding a big plate carefully in his small arms.
"Did you give some to all the guards?" I asked.
"Yes," he said proudly. "And they said thank you to you and that they liked them so much."
A small smile curved my lips. "Okay, buddy." I took the plate from him. "Let's get you ready for bed."
It was already ten at night, which meant it was long past his bedtime.
After placing the empty plate in the kitchen, we headed back to our room. Angelo and I had been staying in the same room ever since we arrived at this villa.
I helped him shower and tucked him into bed afterward.
"You sleep," I said softly, pulling the blanket over his small body. "I'll take a shower and come sleep beside you."
"Okay, Mommy."
I kissed his forehead before heading to the bathroom.
Before stepping inside, I quickly sent Levi a message. He had already arrived in the United States.
I didn't spend much time showering.
Tonight, I chose one of the silk sets Luca had bought me during my first days here. A dark satin nightgown that hugged my curves softly without revealing too much.
Just enough. Enough to distract.
Enough to make a man lower his guard.
When I stepped out, Angelo was already asleep, hugging his pillow while soft breaths escaped him peacefully.
For a second, guilt twisted inside my chest. Then I pushed it away.
After a while, I looked at the time on my phone. Twelve after midnight.
Perfect.
I logged into Messenger and typed quickly.
\[Can I come over so we can discuss the contract details?\]
Seconds passed.
Then a minute.
Then two.

Seen...

\[Now?\] he replied almost immediately.
\[If you're busy, another time.\]
Seen again.
But silence stretched without an answer.
After a short pause, another message appeared.
\[Come to the office in an hour.\]
I sighed in frustration while staring at the clock above the screen.
An hour was too long. By then, my entire plan could collapse.
I grabbed the thin robe that matched the nightgown and slipped it over my shoulders before quietly leaving the room.
The villa was silent at this hour.
Only the dim hallway lights guided my steps.
Once I reached the room Luca had been occupying during his stay here, I slowly turned the doorknob.
Unlocked.
Relief spread through me.
\[I'm already in your room.\] I sent, followed by a broken-heart emoji.
His reply came instantly.
\[Stay there. I'm on my way.\]
One minute passed.
Then two.
Then three.
Then, the bedroom door burst open.
At first, Luca simply stared at me with disbelief written across his face.
Then slowly, a smirk spread across his lips as he leaned against the doorframe.
"Are you here to discuss the contract..." His dark gaze slowly roamed over my body where I sat on his bed. "Or for something else?"
I slowly got to my feet and walked toward him, keeping my eyes fixed on his.
The dim golden lights of the room reflected against his dark shirt and sharp features, making him look even more dangerous.
"What else would we possibly be doing besides discussing the contract?" I asked innocently, blinking my mascara-heavy lashes.
His eyes darkened instantly.
He stepped inside and shut the door behind him using the heel of his shoe.
Then his gaze moved toward the coffee table where I had already prepared a bottle of wine and two glasses.
When his eyes returned to me, amusement flickered across his face.
"Interesting," he murmured.
He reached for my waist, but I moved away before he could touch me.
"Can I see a copy of the contract first?" I asked casually as I turned around and sat on the sofa.
For a brief second, he simply studied me.
Then he followed.
"Does that mean you might actually sign it tonight?" he asked.

Something flickered into his eyes. Hope, maybe?
I smiled faintly. "Why not? If it means I might finally have peace in my life afterward."

His eyes narrowed.

I already knew the contract was a trap.
But what Luca didn't know was that he wasn't the only one willing to play dirty.
Without breaking eye contact, he opened the drawer beside the bed and pulled out a file.
When he handed it to me, I lifted a brow.
"You really don't waste time."
He bent slightly to my level, his voice lowering.
"I don't waste things I value."
My heartbeat stumbled for one dangerous second.
I opened the file while still holding his gaze.
Then, with one finger against his chest, I gently pushed him back.
"Let me read first."
A slow smirk appeared on his lips before he leaned back against the sofa opposite me. Watching. Studying every reaction on my face.
As if trying to decide whether I was truly surrendering to him... or preparing to destroy him.
The room felt too warm under his stare.
The silence stretched between us while I flipped through the pages carefully.
Every few seconds, I could feel his eyes dragging slowly over me. Patient, possessive and dangerously calm.
Finally, after several long minutes, I closed the file.
Without saying a word, Luca picked up a pen and extended it toward me.
"Sign?" he asked quietly.
