Chapter 47: ♥ Secrets Spilled

Noah’s

Enzo’s desperate kiss still burned softly on my cheek as I walked back into James’s quiet living room, my heart suddenly heavy, my head completely muddled with confusing thoughts.

I collapsed instantly onto the couch, my hands shaking badly, trying desperately to push away the painful memory of his intense words—"You’re a Vengas, Noah, but you’re my Vengas." I truly wanted to believe him completely, to finally feel safe right there with him, but Dean’s terrifying threat, Stan’s sudden collapse, the pack’s blinding hatred—it was simply all too overwhelming to process. I felt completely exposed, exactly like I was slowly drowning in deep water.

James walked out from the kitchen, his glasses now fogged up from the cooking steam, holding a plate. He stopped immediately, staring intensely at me, his eyes narrow and suspicious, as if I had just done something terribly wrong. “Are you actually okay, Noah?” he asked, his voice sharp and suspicious. “What exactly was that whole intense scene about with the Enzo guy just now?”

I forced a weak smile onto my face, my stomach twisting tightly. “I’m fine now,” I said, my voice barely audible. “Just… really tired all of a sudden. It’s been a really rough week for me.”

He crossed his arms firmly over his chest, his face hardening instantly. “Tired?” he said, his voice rising in disbelief. “Come on now, Noah. You’re intentionally not telling me the whole truth about what’s happening. What is going on with your life? Why was Enzo here, aggressively kissing you, and acting like you’re his permanent property? Spill the entire story now.”

I stood up quickly, my hands nervously fidgeting, my heart racing fast with panic. “Why are you asking me all of this right now?” I said, my voice shaking uncontrollably. “Did I honestly do something wrong by just talking to him? I’m simply… trying to deal with a lot of personal stuff, James.”

He laughed, the sound short and genuinely angry, instantly stepping closer to me. “Dealing with stuff?” he said, violently pushing my outstretched hand away when I nervously reached for him. “We’ve been close friends for many years, Noah. I clearly know your dad is a piece of crap, and now you’re suddenly mixed up with some dangerous guy who aggressively shows up and acts like he owns your very soul? Tell me the complete truth right now. Did your abusive dad secretly sell you to Enzo for money? And what is this crazy Vengas thing everyone keeps talking about? Why is your life actually in so much danger now?”

I froze completely in place, my breath rapidly catching in my throat, my mind spinning wildly out of control. How was I possibly supposed to quickly and easily explain all of this to him? Werewolves, mates, Vengas powers—it sounded totally insane and unbelievable.

“James, please let’s not talk about this crazy stuff, okay?” I said, my voice low and desperate for him to stop. “It’s truly complicated to explain. I just urgently need to crash and hide here safely for a little while longer.”

He shook his head forcefully, his voice instantly getting louder and firmer. “Complicated?” he said, his eyes flashing with frustration. “No way I’m letting this go, Noah. You don’t get to just brush me off like I’m nothing. I’ve personally seen how you’ve been acting all week—scared, incredibly jumpy, like someone dangerous is actively after you. What truly is a Vengas? Why is Enzo so overly protective of you all of a sudden? And why is your life genuinely in danger from others? Tell me the truth now, or I’m absolutely not letting this crucial topic go.”

I sighed deeply, running a trembling hand through my hair, my heart pounding hard in my chest. “You simply won’t believe anything I tell you,” I said, my voice shaking slightly. “It’s far too crazy to believe, James. You’ll honestly think I’m losing my entire mind.”

“Just try me and see,” he said, his voice firm and unwavering, stepping even closer. “I’m your closest best friend, Noah. I already know your dad is a mess of a person, and I’ve firmly stuck by you through all of that awful chaos. Whatever this hidden thing is, I can handle hearing it. Just tell me the complete truth right now.”

I sat back down slowly, my hands trembling badly, and he sat down across from me, his eyes locked intently on mine. I took a very deep breath, my voice low and steadying. “Okay, fine,” I said finally. “You seriously want the truth? Werewolves definitely exist in this world, James. Enzo is actually one of them. And he’s officially my mate. That means… I’m supposed to actually be with him, like, permanently forever. Like marrying him, living with him, doing all of it together.”

James’s jaw dropped instantly, his eyes wide with shock, his voice high-pitched and disbelieving. “Werewolves?” he said, leaning forward quickly. “Are you honestly serious about this, Noah? You’re telling me that Enzo’s a genuine werewolf, and you’re, what, his fiancée or something ridiculous? You truly expect me to instantly believe this crazy story?”

I laughed, the sound short and bitter, my heart aching deeply from the rejection. “I know it truly sounds completely nuts to you,” I said sadly. “I honestly didn’t believe any of it at first either. But it’s horrifyingly real, James. Enzo’s my mate now, and I don’t even truly know what that intense status means for my future yet. I’m simply… desperately trying to figure it all out day by day.”

He shook his head repeatedly, his voice shaking with disbelief. “Figure it out now?” he said sharply. “Noah, this whole thing is absolutely insane. You’re telling me you’re suddenly caught up in some kind of hidden werewolf romance drama? What is next for you, vampires and witches? And what actually is a Vengas? You keep actively dodging that crucial question.”

I sighed again, my eyes dropping to the floor, my voice quiet and shameful. “I’m still completely figuring that part out too,” I said. “From what Enzo carefully told me, a Vengas isn’t a werewolf at all. They openly can’t physically shift into a wolf, but they can… violently take a wolf’s inner power. Like, completely steal their physical strength with just a simple touch.”

James leaned back excitedly, his eyes wide and bright, his voice suddenly filled with curiosity. “What, like a real-life superhero?” he said. “That’s actually kind of cool, Noah. You’re like some special power-draining mutant in a comic book!”

I laughed, but the sound was hollow and empty, my chest feeling tight with anxiety. “No, it truly is not cool at all,” I said, my voice breaking with emotion. “It is exactly like a painful curse. I accidentally took someone’s entire power, James. I truly didn’t mean to harm him, but I actually did it.”

He frowned now, his voice immediately softer and more concerned. “Who exactly was it?” he said. “What exactly happened to the person? Who did you unintentionally hurt?”

I swallowed hard, my hands trembling nervously. “Stan,” I said, my voice low and full of guilt. “He’s Enzo’s brother’s mate. I touched him in a fight, and he immediately collapsed. Now his boyfriend is actively after me, desperately wants me dead for what I did to him.”

James’s eyes widened in true alarm, his voice urgent and panicked. “Wait, someone is actually seriously trying to kill you now?” he said loudly. “Why don’t we immediately go to the police for help, Noah? They can legally protect you from this danger, right?”

I shook my head sadly, my voice filled with bitterness. “The police simply can’t do anything helpful for me,” I said. “Who is ever going to believe my crazy story about werewolves and Vengas powers? They’d simply lock me up instantly for being completely crazy and delusional.”

He nodded slowly, his voice quiet with realization. “Yeah, I guess you’re right about that,” he said slowly. “That’s… definitely a lot of crazy information to process. So, who exactly is trying to kill you? Who is Stan’s murderous boyfriend?”

I sighed again, my heart heavy with dread, my voice low and resigned. “You truly won’t believe this final part either,” I said, pausing for a long moment, my eyes meeting his. “It’s Dean. Our boring old history teacher from school.”

James’s jaw dropped for the second time, his voice suddenly high-pitched and incredulous. “Dean?” he said, leaning forward quickly. “Mr. Dean, the creepy history teacher? No way that’s true! He’s always been weird and overly focused around you in class, but seriously trying to kill you now? Why would he do that?”

I took a very deep breath, my voice shaking with the fear of the truth. “Because of what I accidentally did to Stan,” I said softly. “Stan is now in a deep, powerless sleep, all because of my touch. And Dean and Stan… they’re both actually werewolves too.”
