Chapter 298: Gabriel, Hurry and Save Evelyn
Chapter 298: Gabriel, Hurry and Save Evelyn
"Who are you? What the hell do you want?"
Evelyn's face went pale as she demanded answers.
But the line had already gone dead.
Evelyn tried calling back, but no one picked up.
She grabbed her keys, desperate to rush over to Delilah's place, when Delilah's call came through:
"Evelyn, don't worry. I'm fine. Those people are gone."
How could Evelyn possibly relax?
They might have left for now, but who knew when they'd come back?
"Delilah, who sent them? Do you know?"
"I..." Delilah hesitated before telling her the truth. "They said Michael sent them."
Evelyn had suspected as much, but hearing it confirmed still hit like a punch to the gut.
Everything he'd done—all of it—was to force her into performing surgery on Elysia.
But how could he stoop to such methods?
Fury surged through Evelyn. The moment she hung up with Delilah, she stormed across the hall and pounded on Michael's door.
But it wasn't Michael who answered.
It was Elysia.
Elysia smiled at her. "Evelyn, looking for Michael? I'm afraid he doesn't have time for you right now. He's in the shower."
As she spoke, Elysia tugged at the collar of her robe, revealing a telltale hickey on her neck.
"Evelyn, did you two fight about half an hour ago? When he came back, he was absolutely furious. Didn't say a word—just ripped my clothes off and threw me onto the bed. I'm sore all over. But you know, when Michael's angry, he's about ten times more intense in bed. It hurt like hell, but god, it felt amazing."
Evelyn ignored her bragging. "I need to see Michael."
"Evelyn, like I just said, Michael's in the shower. He doesn't have time for you." Elysia looked her up and down with a smirk. "You're not here about your friend's place getting trashed, are you?"
Evelyn's face went another shade paler. "You know about that?"
"Of course I know. Michael did it to pressure you into doing my surgery. I tried to talk him out of it at first, but he was so desperate to get this done for me that he wouldn't listen. He insisted on sending people to your friend's place."
"Evelyn, for old times' sake—since you're technically my sister—let me give you some advice. Just agree to do the surgery. Otherwise, I honestly don't know what else Michael might do for my sake."
Evelyn stumbled backward a few steps, then turned and fled to her own apartment.
Watching her retreat, Elysia pulled out her phone and called Scarlett. "Mom, phase one is complete."
Scarlett's delighted laughter came through the speaker. "This is just the beginning, Elysia. Don't worry—I'll find a way to get rid of that baby Evelyn's carrying. And I'll make sure you marry Michael."
She was still gloating on the phone when Michael suddenly appeared in the doorway. "What are you doing here?"
Elysia froze, then quickly ended the call.
She walked over with a smile and slipped her arm through his. "Michael, you looked so upset when you left. I was worried about you, so I came to check on you. But when I got here, you were nowhere to be found."
Michael frowned at her robe. He clearly didn't buy her story.
Elysia rushed to explain. "I accidentally spilled something on my clothes when I got here, so I took a shower. I didn't have anything else to wear, so I borrowed one of your robes. I hope that's okay."
"I'm fine. You should go."
Michael's tone left no room for argument.
Elysia was annoyed, but she didn't want to push him right now. She left.
Once Michael's door closed, Evelyn emerged from her apartment.
Even though Delilah had called to say she was okay, Evelyn couldn't shake her worry. She needed to see for herself.
Before leaving, she called Isadora and warned her to be careful for the next few days.
Isadora wanted to tell her that her family had ties to the Johnson family and that Michael wouldn't touch her, but Evelyn was too frantic. She hung up before Isadora could finish.
When Evelyn arrived at Delilah's place and saw the wreckage, her face went ashen. She rushed toward the door.
The moment she stepped inside, a hand came down hard on the back of her neck. Evelyn collapsed.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself staring up at surgical lights. She was lying on a narrow operating table, and two doctors in white coats stood nearby.
Dread flooded her veins.
She tried to move, only to realize she was strapped down.
"What are you doing? This is illegal!"
One of the doctors looked at her coldly. "Mr. Johnson said your baby has no right to exist. Begin the abortion procedure."
"No... please, no..."
Evelyn thrashed against the restraints with everything she had, but it was useless. She was completely immobilized.
All she could do was watch in horror as the two doctors moved between her legs and picked up their instruments.
Haven Sky Residences.
Michael sat on his couch, lost in thought, when a sudden tightness gripped his chest—like a boulder pressing down on him, making it hard to breathe.
What the hell?
He frowned.
After a moment's thought, he left his apartment and knocked on Evelyn's door. No answer.
He tried calling her, only to find her phone was off.
A bad feeling settled over him.
He headed downstairs, planning to drive around and look for her.
That's when Elysia called. "Michael, my heart—it's killing me. Can you please take me to the hospital?"
Michael hesitated, then agreed. "Alright."
Delilah had been tied up in the bathroom the whole time. She hadn't seen Evelyn get knocked out and dragged away, but she'd heard enough to piece it together.
She fought against the ropes with everything she had until she finally broke free. She grabbed her phone and tried calling Evelyn—no answer. She immediately called Isadora.
Isadora had been trying to reach Evelyn ever since their abrupt call ended. When Delilah told her what happened, Isadora realized Evelyn had been taken. She immediately dialed Michael.
But for some reason, his phone wasn't going through either.
Out of options, Isadora called Gabriel.
"Gabriel, I hate to bother you, but I'm desperate. Evelyn's been taken. They might be going after her baby. Please—you have to save her."
