Epilogue 1

Shyla’s P.O.V.

“The fear of death follows the flow of life. If life is surely going to hell for your loved ones, it’s better to take solace in the arms of death.”

Call it my selfishness or the desire to avoid more troubles, I didn’t listen to my mate’s advice and made a decision for both of us, hoping that he would understand my perspective over time.

After witnessing the bizarre power of the promise mate, it was obvious that Prince Edith held more power on both of us, interfering in our emotions and minds. His firm control on our bond bothered me.

Like we could never have intimacy, never mind-link each other, and never share a moment in peace, he was able to literally waltz in our lives whenever he wanted.

If there was a fated bond, where three mates were willing to live together, then there wasn’t any issue, rejecting one of them could end in separation. But the promise mates bond was for living and dying together. So, I opted for death, putting him into a magical slumber wasn’t suitable for us.

Edith’s slumber would put our feral sides to sleep. Maddox would become an omega, completely powerless, making him an easy target for his enemies. That life would be worse than death for him.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped on the bridge connecting the after world, my heart was at peace that my mate and my son were safe. I was certain that for our love, Maddox would take care of Marcel.

The strong breeze on the bridge caressed my face, it was oddly refreshing . As I moved forward, the dense fog before me clouded my vision. I was taking every step cautiously when a familiar voice from behind made me lose my balance.

“Hey, my promise mate!”

Prince Edith?

The sight of that headache running towards me churned my stomach, I couldn’t believe the height of my bad luck. I literally died to get rid of him, and here he was, disturbing me again.

Breathless from running, Prince Edith looked exhausted, but his smile deepened as he saw me.

“See, we are true mates, Shyla. We will spend eternity in heaven together.”

No!

My frantic gaze darted from one place to another, focusing on the bridge below as I searched for the endpoint of it. Jumping into the depths of hell was a better option than spending a minute with him, I couldn’t bear to see the face of my dad’s killer anymore.

Edith noticed my panic and followed me around, stopping me.

“What are you doing? We are supposed to go straight, Shyla.”

An involuntary gasp escaped from my mouth as the sudden quake shook us. The bridge below Edith’s feet started cracking as he shrieked.

“No! Run!

It’s getting late!”

Without looking at me, he sprinted blindly, the fog cleared from his way as he ran. But the weird thing was the intact bridge before me, it appeared that this special treatment was for Edith only.

Perhaps, heaven had prepared a surprise for him.

Soon, I heard a loud blast with Edith’s screeches, he was begging piteously.

“No!

I am a good person. Please spare me.

No!”

The fog cleared as Edith fell in the deepest pit of hell, punished for his crimes. I was at peace after seeing his end. It was true that heaven’s justice was unbiased, without any discrimination.

The swiftly building bridge for my way in the dawn before sunrise was a breathtaking scene, it made me feel like I was in the fantastic beast movie where Newt rebuilt the city with magic.

The journey after Edith’s disappearance was a pleasant one, it completed without any hitch. I reached the other end of the bridge where two hooded people in white welcomed me.

“Name?”

“Shyla Miller!”

I said, using Maddox’s surname after marking him felt like home. We were true mates, bound for eternity, the official marking had completed our bond. But my happy moment was ruined by their response.

“We don’t have your name!”

“What?”

My heart sank as I spoke hurriedly.

“Try Shyla Alford or Shyla Harrison. Please …”

Utterly horrified, I pondered over this situation. I had successfully crossed the bridge, and the master of hell didn’t take me with him.

But why wasn’t my name in the list of heaven now?

What the hell?

The idea of being a ghost and roam in the world struck me like a lightning bolt. I gasped, voicing my deepest dreads.

“Am I damned to be a ghost spirit? Is my Goddess angry with me?

Please …”

My queries were responded to by a gentle voice, mesmerizing me with its melodious tone.

“No, my child!

I am not angry with you.”

Dressed in a pure white gown, the angelic figure of a stunning woman appeared before my sight. Her youthful warm smile washed the waves of relaxation over me.

She was truly magnificent!

Before I could ask, she read my mind and spoke in a heart-fluttering tone,

“I am Selene, the Moon Goddess you worship, my child.”

My head bowed on its own as I quickly knelt, paying my earnest respect.

“Thanks for gracing me with your presence, my Goddess.”

The symphony of her divine tone resounded in my ears, healing the deep lacerations of my soul. My Goddess addressed me softly.

“You are the first female Fenrir Alpha King I created for my children on earth, Shyla Alford.

And you have come back so early to heaven?

No my, dear. It’s not time yet!”

Her silver river-like hair flew in the air as she flicked her porcelain hand and turned to leave.

“Go back and serve my creations, Shyla Miller. The Supernatural world needs you.”

…

“Go back, Shyla!”

The Moon Goddess’s words were still echoing in my ears as a proof of that meeting when I saw the light after complete darkness. My head hurt badly, but I tried to keep my eyes open due to the noise.

Blinking rapidly, I tried to find out where I was, the cold hardness below me didn’t seem like a good sign.

I was only able to see a chandelier over my head properly when an ear-splitting growl tended to shatter my eardrums, pounding my heart against my chest.

“I will burn this entire world.

Die!”

Boom!

This furious threat was followed by a solid subject breaking into pieces, someone was on the mission to break the things around me. Mustering up some courage, I turned my limp body, lying on the side to see in the direction of that chaos.

The mix of growls and screams sounded pretty familiar as my frozen brain picked up its service again.

“Bloody vampire!

You will die!”

Oh, my Goddess!

Clutching the neck of helpless Hayden in his bloodied claws, Maddox’s tall, black lycan was thundering in fury. The corpses of werewolves scattered on the floor described the need of my presence on the earth in a split second. I needed to act immediately.

Maddox’s lycan had lost his mind, going on the rampage. His next prey was Hayden, who happened to look at me accidentally.

“Maddox!

Shyla?

Look!”

His coded announcement wasn’t enough, so I screamed at the top of my lungs to call my mate.

“Maddox, come to me!”

“Kitten?”

Maddox’s doubtful voice resonated in the hall, he threw Hayden away and flashed by my side in a heartbeat.

“My Kitten?”

Raising my hand, I touched his trembling paw, letting my tears flow freely from my eyes.

“Yes, your Kitten. Maddox.”

“Mine!”

Maddox lifted me up and clutched to his chest, howling in glee. He squeezed me into his arms, trying to merge our bodies into one. His captivating scent of peppermint eased the yearning of my heart as he cried out.

“Why did you leave me, Kitten? I was so sad and miserable. I thought I would never see you again.”

His sorrowful voice cut through my soul like a silver blade, I could feel his anguish like my own.

But I was back now, there would be no tears from now on.

A sudden jolt of electricity coursing through my body reconnected our bond, restoring it to its former glory. Maddox was also able to feel the bounty of our bond. He licked my forehead lovingly, securing me in his embrace. Silence became our language as we shared our affection for each other, calming our souls.

Maddox asked me in teary voice, “Promise me, Kitten, you will never leave me!”

Taking a deep breath, I thanked my Goddess and promised my loving mate.

“I will never leave you again, Maddox. We will stay together forever.”
